decided to make a re-writeblr intro of sorts now that i’m trying to get more active shdkjdsjk

hi!!! you can call me jai or leo and my pronouns are they/them!! i’m a minor :D, i mainly write short stories but i do dabble in longer length fantasy, dystopia and romance stuff as well!! i also write poetry and prose pieces. the things i look for in stories are queer characters, neurodivergent characters, found family, fantasy [DRAGONS!!!], a coming of age story, anything with good friendships, Found Family [i’m literally obsessed with it.]

After shoving Hansel in the oven, the witch turns to Gretel - who is currently fending the witch off with a gingerbread chair - and says:

“I can’t believe you thought a trail of breadcrumbs would save you. I mean, honestly, this is a forest! It’s full of animals. Honestly, the very idea that a dumb shit like you thought you could get the better of me is absurd.”

Gretel hits her in the face with said chair. To be fair to the witch, she takes the chairshot like a champ.

“Ow!”

“Did you know,” says Gretel, “that crows are capable of facial recognition?”

“Eh?” Says the witch, clambering to her feet and pulling a candy cane sledgehammer off the wall. “What’s that got to do with anything?”

“Not only that,” Gretel continues, “but they can remember both friends and enemies. And they’ll often follow people they remember as friends.”

The two fence with their sugared weapons for a moment, before the witch knocks the chair out of Gretel’s hands.

“Enough with the bird facts! Honestly, this whole attempted escape has been utter clownshoes. Get in the fucking oven!”

She seizes Gretel by the collar. Gretel immediately sandbags, letting her whole body go limp. This eminently practical defense forces the witch to try and deadlift her. Which is hard, as the witch often skips leg day.

“For example,” Gretel says, as the witch struggles and grunts, “if you feed crows a lot of breadcrumbs, they’ll probably start to see you as a friend and follow you in the hope of more food.”

The witch stops. Outside, she hears the thunder of wings.

“They’ll even bring you shiny things they find as presents!” Says Gretel, as a corner of the gingerbread ceiling is suddenly cut away by a large crow with a knife in its mouth.

“Oh shitballs.” Says the witch, as the crows descend. “I hope you know this is a great unkindness.”

“Technically,” Says Gretel, “It’s a murder.”

Sometimes, they wondered where would they be if they didn't dedicate themself to their cause. If they took up a profession, where they didn't have to deal with immense dangers involved. Perhaps, plenty of things would go differently.

However, they wouldn't regret any of it. Sure, they had gotten trapped or kidnapped yet they always made it through. Saw it through no matter how tough their situation could get.

And maybe they could be a little foolish for doing what they do. But hey if they managed to help people. . . their safety was negligent. After all: it proved to be a simple price, which they would pay over and over again.

Back in their apartment, their ally tended to their wounds. Dabbing a wet cloth over wounded spots, cleaning it up as much as she could.

"You know," she said, grabbing a piece of gauze. "We'd have more nights of leisure if you didn't get back bleeding. I thought you'd have learned to lessen it by now."

"If those people didn't insist on stabbing or shooting at me," they replied with a heavy sigh. "I'm sure I wouldn't be stuck with it. But hey, they believe draining blood outta my system is gonna stop me."

She snorted, shaking her head. "I swear, you're just finding an excuse to be a martyr, eh."

"Then why bother sticking around?" they asked, arching a brow. They rubbed a hand over a gauze wrapped around a bruise on their elbow. "I mean if you got a problem with it, you can walk out."

They tried making it sound like a joke yet some seriousness slipped out. She lowered her arm, bowing her head. She gulped and set the cloth down onto a table.

Crap, they thought as regret engulfed them. They probably shouldn't have said. . .

When she peered up at them, her lips tilted into a small grin.

"Because I don't have much better to do," she answered dryly with a brief shrug. "Besides. . . who else can I stop from making bad decisions? Don't think I can find anyone else like you."

With a roll of their eyes, they threw a light punch at her upper arm. She burst out cackling

Even if they keep crashing down, a pair of arms were prepared to catch them. Keeping them. . . secured and reassured. That they weren't alone and they had an ally, who would be there for them. Whether they fell apart or get torn at the seams, they knew they wouldn't have to be alone. And damn, they were so lucky to have someone, steadfast and loyal, by their side.

It happened to be pivotal to them especially since they had to get people out of a building. It had been hit by a laser beam and they had to evacuate most of those who had been in it. If they didn't have a team, they wouldn't have done the job at all.

However, they had been slow at escaping themself. But the sound of concrete cracking set them on edge, freezing them on where they stood.

Before it could crumble on them, a whirlwind of a silhouette shoved them to the other side. Rolling along with them.

They tried catching their breath, turning their head at the person beside them. Only for their eyes to widen at their ally, who propped herself up on an elbow.

"You dumbass," she hissed, scowling. Her face crumpled. "You ought to be more careful, you know!"

"Sorry," they murmured, wincing at sharp sensation searing at their sides. "I would. . . I would have. . . but. . . thank you."

"Don't thank me just yet." She scrambled to her feet, dusting her jacket and t-shirt. She stretched a hand out. "C'mon. . . you got a job to finish. After that, you're required to rest. No complaints."

Their lips quirked up at the corners. "Yeah. . . no problem."

As her posture relaxed, she reached for their elbow. Guiding them to where those civilians had been brought to safety.

2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?

It’s difficult. Sometimes, Claude laughs at her own damn clumsy mistakes or her own jokes. Sometimes, she laughs at someone’s jokes or at moments that weren’t meant to be laughable. She laughs, when she’s truly happy. She laughs, when she’s having fun with her friends.

In short, it takes a while to let her walls go down, and show her amusement to someone.

3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

She has insomnia, so sleep is hard to come by and she stays up all night, thinking. But when she does pass out, she takes it as a gift.

36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?

OKAY, RIRI, HOW DARE YOU!?!? just kidding, i’ll happily answer this, lol

*clears throat* so, Claude, when she’s really in love with someone *cough* Ray Palmer *cough*, she actively do something to show that she does have feelings for them. She checks if they’re okay, gives them thoughtful gifts (roses that she grew on her own garden, books she think that they might like, a useful gadget), and tries to spend time with them, even though her social energy might drain.

In other words, she tries being active when she’s romantically interested with someone. (and the dude, I shaded is a damn idiot. but she’s patient, lmaooo)

A) Why are you excited about this character?

Hmm, because she means something to me as a writer. She’s different from me, and the fact that she’s not the stereotypical sexy, pretty girl in most media is interesting. (Here’s how she looks like). And writing a confident smart-ass, who’s a woman is refreshing. Hollywood are cowards, it’s a fact™️.

B) What inspired you to create them?

Here’s one of my dark secrets... I had read lots of Beauty and the Beast re-tellings. Most of them have guys with scars, and some of their personality is basic, and I noticed how there aren’t many women who are the beasts.

So, with Claude, she wasn’t meant to be scarred, but when I imagined her with scars, it stayed stuck with me.

Basically, Disney’s version of the Beast inspired me. But Claude has her own original traits that the Beast doesn’t have, I think.

There you have it, my darkness. Lmaooo.

E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?

Heh, it depends. I’m sure that I might get annoyed by her ego, and her constant smart-assery. It might take Claude a while to warm up to me, lmaooo.

She really did. Jade tended to wrap herself in black dresses or skirts and various trinkets. Whether that was to mark her status as a witch or not, he didn’t know, but it certainly made her fearsome. She had once mentioned allegiance with one of the forces that sacked Rome. It fit. When Caz had first seen Jade — her lips and eyes painted black, the tattoo on her shoulder, the metal stud through her mouth — he would have offered his head on a platter if she invaded his village.

Tonight she was wearing a black dress with straps that formed a pattern over bronze flesh, and her lips were purplish in color. Her eyes, as always, were that dark amber. They were burning into him now in response to his comment.

best advice i ever got as a writer was to pick a hobby that i hated more than writing and stick with it. i’m a runner now and it’s miserable and i Hate It and writing is so lovely in comparison. bonus: i’m in excellent shape and running gives you a lot of time to think about writing. i’ve solved a lot of plot complications while running.

This is such funny advice. Writing is so excruciating, you gotta take up Self Torture so that writing feels like a fun little break 😭

Cut yourself some slack. Writing gets tedious sometimes.
