WIP TAG!
@albatris Logan Rose thank you for tagging me!!!!
Rules: share a list of stories you're currently working on, regardless of whether or not you've introduced them to writeblr.
Apex! (Monster Hunting): this one doesn't technically have a proper name, but it's an urban fantasy story about a large group of students who attend a college that trains them to fight vaguely Eldritch monsters. There's an ensemble cast of superpowered, college-age teenagers and a scattering of professors, a tyrant, a scientist, and a weapons designer. There's a plot braid going on, intertwining the stories of a scientist whose research goes horribly awry and leads to a massive uprising of monsters, a tyrant who uses the power vacuum to try a bit of world domination and filicide, and a bastard who wants to do a little evil on the small scale. It mainly follows Rostya Volkov, an autistic transman, as he struggles to find his identity admist all this chaos, Jacob Sable, a sweet boy who should not be a hunter, and Kinkade McCleary, a genderfluid darling who ends up in over their whimsical head regarding it all. There's monsters and war and trauma and friendship and love!! It's so hard to condense to a blurb.
Nightindale: another urban fantasy following two stories in the gritty city of Nightindale. One one side, you have former Police Chief Blumenthal and his Lieutenant Chanda. On the other, you have Crime Heir Deacy and Assassin Accountant Fox. Both duos carefully skirt around each other as they try to solve the mysteries surrounding a vicious serial killer who leaves bafflingly soulless corpses... Deacy and Fox struggle to find out how one removes a soul-- a task thought impossible-- and for what cause, while Blumenthal and Chanda try to protect their city from a gruesome murderer... but what bigger things are at stake?
The Lamp-Caster Society: hundreds of years ago, an enigmatic lamplighter met an eccentric millionaire and proved to him that the specters, ghosts, and poltergeists that have always plagued this world could be dealt with by channeling fire from the soul, and an entire organization was founded to train others to do this to address the pesky ghastly problem. Nowadays, the Society has become rather bureaucratic, but the Great Northern Division still does its best to manage it's suspiciously plagued city's ghosts. It follows the GND's small cast as they face off against an alarmingly strong poltergeist that seems rather resistant to moving on.
Divine Interventions: finally, my oldest and most complicated story, taking place in a world where the pantheon is rather obvious about their existence. A high fantasy world following a young bard, Mr. Malik who died while travelling overseas and was brought back to life, claimed as the hero of... three separate deities. Malik is sent on a quest to prevent the end of the world by quelling a monstrous entity known as The Heat, whose waking would bring the world to a burning end. Along the way, he has to deal with the pesky interventions of the God of Travelers, one of his deities, who obscures and complicates his journey. Malik isn't sure what he can do against an ancient deity, but he has a lute and forced optimism and he'll take the swing he can.
