i cant believe you’re gone from EFTM makes me miss my nanu (grandmother) so freaking much.
somehow jack is able to express exactly how even after years of trying to deal with it, grief just hits you out of nowhere and you’re back to that same place saying “i can’t believe you’re gone”.
i LOVE how in the first chorus he cant even bring himself to say “I cant believe youre gone” cause you really just CANT believe that they are gone. So many times I hear myself say oh I am going to my nana-nani’s home and then I can’t even bring myself to THINK that oh its just my nana’s home now…
“sand bottles and essays outlive you, how wrong. this room is a nightmare this room is my god” she was a literature phd, she authored books, she wrote essays and poems and sometimes i just hug her books, i outline the words wishing somehow this brings me closer to her. i hate the room she passed away in but then again it is my god because i have countless memories of her there. thats her bed. she used to sit right there. she used to smile.
“some days a giant, others a kid and somedays im too scared to even fucking begin, cause i can’t believe you’re gone” yep. this.
“these hope filled lies” everybody saying she went without pain she had lived a long good life its better this way “these unearned traditions” i took her socks so now everytime i have an important day at college/work or when i miss her extra hard i wear her socks, i wear her slippers every day even though they aren’t in the best condition, she used to love dancing in rain so i do that now to remember her “if you repeat them enough you can live with somebody who’s missing”
