To people saying Max Fosh need to come back. Itās a no. He was disrespectful and didnāt seem the understand the games. He didnāt match the boys energy at all. You could see it on their face that there were annoyed at some of the joke.
I really need anyone who shares this energy to take a step back and reflect.
First of all, itās completely fine if you donāt like guests, or Max. I didnāt enjoy some of the guests either so I get it.
However, whatās not okay is speculating about how SFTH themselves feel about their guests, especially to justify your own feelings towards them, thatās just obnoxious. You donāt know them, you donāt know what they think. āYou could see it on their faceā no I couldnāt. They were performing, what you saw could have been a part of their performance.
Iād like to remind everyone that SFTH invite the guests themselves, and itās their job to be good hosts and make their guests feel welcomed. Youāre painting them as terrible hosts who donāt know how to be professional and helpful towards someone completely new at improv.
Of course if any of the guests was hateful or crossed the line, they wouldnāt have to tolerate them, but Max surely wasnāt, they wouldnāt have posted his show at all if he had been.
Iād also like to ask everyone to be more hospitable towards guests, because weāre also their hosts in a way, theyāre entering our space. You donāt have to like them, you donāt even have to tolerate them, but donāt be rude. SFTH wants to go bigger, which means they need to build connections. Inviting guests is one of the ways to do so. Respect their decisions and their agency.
In short, be nice, be kind, be welcoming. I donāt think thatās too much to ask.
Does anybody remember the survey about subtitles? Well, Iām here to tell you the results! (in a very nonenglishing English)
Before I start, I should mention that I asked a bunch of people from other places and fandoms, but still, around 80% surveyed were from the Shoot From The Hip community. Youāre awesome! Iāve received so many sweet words. Thank you so much from me and from the subtitlers too. I sent them all of your words about SFTHs captions ^^
There are two versions of the survey, one of them is in English and the other one is not. Iāve combined the results in an Excel file and made some graphs.
So, as of November 1st the survey had been taken by 176 people. Out of all of them, only 7% said that they donāt use subtitles at all. Also, 23% always turn on subs, and 49% said that they turn up only human-made subtitles.
Out of all people who use subs in different circumstances (161 people to be exact), 81% said that with colour-coding, it is much easier to understand who is speaking. Another 17% said that colour-coding helps only sometimes. Notably, this group includes every colourblind person who took the survey.
As you can see, subtitles, especially when theyāre colour-coded, are really in demand. But what about translations?
The survey revealed that only 24% enable subs in their native language when watching a video in their second language and 28% do this only if the subtitles are human-made. It might not look like a lot, especially considering the fact that 34% said that even if the translation is available, they still watch the video w/o it.

Some of you might think that all of the hard work of translators is not worth it, but itās not true. As long as the translations help someone, for example with learning a language, not getting a joke, when just being too tired to second-languaging or wanting to share a video with your friend, itās worth it. Have you ever been in a situation, when you really liked a meme and wanted to send it to your friend, but you couldnāt because the meme was in a language your friend doesnāt speak?
Andā¦ thatās all. Really interesting results, donāt you think? I was really surprised, especially by the results of the colour-coding question. Fun fact: all of the ānoā on this question was NOT from SFTH fandom. Hereās the result of the English survey (around 90-95% are SFTH fans):
140 people. 86% yes, 14% sometimes, 0% no. This is CRAZY.
Yes, there are around 3 SFTH fans who took the other survey, but I donāt know who answered what. In any case, even one or two people vs 140 is justā¦ Wow.
In the end I want to say that unfortunately I will not continue my research. I used the results for my article but I probably will not use them in my thesis. I came to the conclusion that the original survey has a lot of mistakes and the questions were asked incorrectly. Also, it turns out that itās just too much for me. I tried to chew more than I can and it made me worry much more than I expected. Iām really sorry but so SO grateful. This was surely an experience!

Stat lovers: I come to you with SFTH mother stats!
People commonly wonder who in SFTH plays the best / the most kids, women, relationships, etc. Well, I was taken in by the slightly less common question: who plays the most and the best mothers?
("The best" is of course hard to quantify, so I focused on role size as an indicator of screentime / contribution to the plot of a longform.)
The quick stats: As of Oct 28, 2025, there are 39 mothers and 4 grandmothers (for a total of 43) across the 63 publicly available longforms. Of these, Tom plays 16, AJ 11, Luke 10, and Sam 6.
Tom also tends towards the largest/most developed roles for mothers, so you could argue that he most consistently plays quality mother characters. (Although AJ was the only one to play a mother who was the lead/protagonist, in The Lollipop Lady's Revenge!)
And I have charts! (Both the mothers and grandmothers are included in the "mother" numbers for these.)

So, to get these charts, I first listed every mother role I could find across the plays. I did this in Excel, but here they are copied to a google sheet, if you'd like to see/fact check the list, or otherwise play with the data:
I sorted them by SFTH member, and determined the role size for each mother by this criteria: how many scenes are they in, how much screentime is that, and how important is their character to the plot?
For a few of these I had trouble picking between med/large, but when it was pretty borderline by the numbers, I went with "does this feel like a side character or one of the main cast"? (Because you also have to keep in mind that the longforms started out around 20 minutes long, and are now usually more like 30-35 mins long, so trying to determine how big a role is by # of scenes or screentime alone isn't actually consistent. 5 minutes of a 15 min longform would be nothing like 5 minutes of a 50 minute longform. So although side character vs main cast isn't objective, it was still a valuable metric because it brings more consistency across different-length longforms.)
I picked multipliers for each role size based on vibes - basically, how many points does each type of role deserve for its contribution to a longform? This is of course pretty arbitrary, but I felt like it was fair to keep a medium role bang in the middle, with "tiny" roles hardly being worth anything and a protagonist mother being an outlier in the other direction with a ton of points.
Then, it was time to make my graphs. I organized my data in this little table:
And then proceeded to make graphs in Excel based on that data.
One thing you may notice is that the raw and the weighted totals I made with my multipliers don't look at all comparable. I wanted to be able to compare them against each other in a chart, so I further processed the "weighted" totals by finding the average multiplier received by each actor (their Weighted Total / Total), and then dividing it by 4, the "default" multiplier, since it's smack in the middle of my 1-7 points per role system. (This creates the same effect as if my "tiny" multiplier had been 0.25, "medium" had been 1, etc, but that way has uglier numbers so whatever, I'm happy with how I did it.)
So, someone who on average plays medium sized roles (Sam) would have a new multiplier of exactly 1, someone who tends to play larger roles (Tom and Luke) would have a larger multiplier to boost their score, and someone who plays smaller roles (AJ) would have a multiplier under 1 to reduce their score. Then that new multiplier is applied to their raw total. This creates much more balanced data:
I then compared this in the Weighted Roles bar graph you see above.
I like that this data shows that although Luke and AJ have a different number of mother roles and a different spread of role sizes, if you average it out, they have pretty much the same size contribution to the SFTH mother ecosystem! (Same weighted score of 10.25)

I started this project one summer's day back in 2024, after seeing that the fandom needs a place to look for information about our wonderful plays and beloved characters.
More than a year has passed but I still havenāt really shared or talked about it. Every time someone finds it, shares it, or makes edits to it, Iām still a bit surprised, and also a bit scared, but in a positive way.
I think now is the time for the Wiki to be seen, and to be built stronger.
