Rain
the-edinburgh-bully:
Joe took the towel with a small nod and quickly dried himself off. His hair was soaked, and flopped over his face like a mop, and his eyepatch began causing him some trouble. But knowing that Acacia would pry, he ignored it and dried his hair (as well as he could).
“Thank you,” he added as he took off his muddy shoes, leaving them by the door and away from his companion’s possessions, “is the rain always this strong?”

Stepping over to the very small element she had, placing the kettle on top and waiting for it to warm up. In the mean time, she dried herself off as best she could, slipping into a silk robe behind the safety of her changing partition. Hanging her now damp dress to dry, she shook her head a little at his question.
"No, usually it's very mild. We usually get one or two bad storms a season. I guess you just happened to be caught in one," Acacia smiled a little, almost apologetically. She felt a little bad that his first time at the show was a gloomy one, but they had to make the best out of the situation.
"Is Edinburgh still as gloomy as I remember?" Maybe it was gloomy because she never wore her glasses, or maybe it was just the mood. Either way, her memories were those of clouds and snow.
So as I said

I didn’t get a title in this years pageant.
I am like 90% sure that I came in 4th or 5th, but there were only three positions. I feel kind of crummy about it, but I think I’m going to be fine. Whats done is done, and I’m running again in 2 years.
But now !! I’m back! So I’ll be online a bit more often.

Rain
the-edinburgh-bully:
With Acacia’s small, and gentle hand in his, Joe had no trouble staying by her side. He took his coat and kept it over her head like an umbrella; careful that he didn’t go too ahead of Acacia.
The storm had gotten stronger since their reunion under the canopy. The rain fell sideways now, and the wind seemed hell bent to push them further away from their destination. A black, and cloudy sky loomed above; only glowing bright when lightening struck the heavens above. Of course, Mother Nature’s cruel teasing only made him more determined to get Acacia safely in her caravan. So they continued, and he pulled the coat tighter over her.
“Are you okay?” He called out, having to raise his voice over the storm
[}@{]
As the wind picked up, Acacia feared that she would be picked up with it; only to float away and never be seen again. That was ridiculous of course, but it was still a very real fear. Luckily, the worst she got was feeling her small frame bump up against his every so often from a strong gust.
She kept her head held high however, and soldiered on, finding the whole situation kind of silly. He looked like he was making a much bigger deal than it needed to be, and she couldn't help but giggle a little bit.
"I'm fine! We're not far," she nodded. Shortly afterwards, she approached the door and tugged it open, the drapes on the inside billowing in the wind. Climbing inside, she found the nearest towel, drying off her feet from the mud and water. Once she was mostly dry, she found a second towel for Joe, offering it to him.
"I'll put some tea on. Feel free to make yourself at home."

Rain
the-edinburgh-bully:
Immediately, Joe’s eyes narrowed. The rain again? She had to be joking, but he had to admit, she was right. If they stayed too long in the storm, there was a very high chance of them getting sick…and he didn’t want to risk it.
He followed Acacia’s eyes, looking for any nook or cranny to help them along the way; all he was welcomed with was an empty marsh, now muddy and undoubtedly waterlogged. It was easy to say that if they made the run, his good shoes would be ruined, and her tiny stiletto heels would get stuck every step of the way. For a moment, he hesitated and thought that maybe braving the storm under the canopy would be wiser, but his eyes turned to his companion who was still shivering, even under his coat.
With a sigh, he stood up (or as high as he could, since the canopy wasn’t high up enough to let him stand full height) and nodded. “It would be best,” he glanced at Acacia’s feet, and stifled a grin “will you even make it with those shoes?”
[}@{]
Looking out towards the soggy paths, she found her gaze drifting down to her shoes. She could dance in them, no problem. However, running would be more of a task. It wasn't that she had a problem with getting dirty. As long as she cleaned herself off afterwards, she would be fine. It was just the chance that she would slip and fall that scared her. Not only would she probably get sick; but she'd ruin her dress and run the risk of hurting herself. If she was hurt, she couldn't perform. With no performances, who knows how long she would be able to stick around.
Still, what was the point of life if a few risks weren't taken? She bent down now to undo her heels as he spoke. Looking up at him as if she was answering his question already, she slipped out of the stilettos. "I can wash my feet once I get inside," she laughed a little, holding the shoes in one hand. She was now considerably even shorter now, but it didn't stop her from taking his hand on instinct.
"Come on!" She said as she lead him out into the rain, and began to run towards the shelter.
The Last Five Years - Sentence Starters
[name] is over and [name] is gone.
I'm still hurting.
What about things that you swore to be true?
Go and hide and run away!
Run away, run and find something better.
Maybe there's somewhere a lesson to learn.
I've been waiting for someone like you.
I've been standing for days with the phone in my hand like an idiot, scared to death.
My people have suffered for thousands of years and I don't give a shit!
I guess I can't believe you really came.
See, I'm smiling--That means I'm happy that you're here.
I think we're gonna be okay.
With all we've had to go through, we'll end up twice as strong.
I didn't know you had to go so soon.
We'll have tonight.
You know what makes me crazy?
I'm sorry, can I say this?
You could be here with me or be there with them - as usual, guess which you pick.
You can't spend a single day that's not about you and you and nothing but you!
I swear to God I'll never understand how you can stand there straight and tall and see I'm crying, and not do anything at all.
Things are moving too fast.
I won't do anything just half-assed.
I met my personal Aphrodite.
I'm feeling panicked and rushed and hurried.
I'm so happy I can't get worried.
Next day it's just like it never happened.
And then he smiles - his eyes light up and how can I complain?
Yes, he's insane, but look what he can do.
I tend to follow in his stride instead of side by side.
I said I'd stick it out and follow through.
I'm a part of that...aren't I?
Maybe your heart's completely swayed, but your head can't follow through.
Don't you think that now's a good time to be the ambitious freak you are?
You get to be happy!
Take a breath, take a step, take a chance - take your time.
Have I mentioned today how lucky I am to be in love with you?
I'm sharing a room with a "former" stripper and her snake: Wayne.
I could shove an ice pick in my eye, I could eat some fish from last July, but it wouldn't be as awful as [fill in what you wish].
He wants me, he wants me, but he ain't gonna get me.
Son of a bitch, I guess I'm doing something right!
'Cause the torture is just exquisite while I'm waiting for you to visit.
We should go meet the dinosaurs.
Will you share your life with me for the next ten minutes?
There are so many lives I want to share with you.
But if you can just wait I will make it eventually.
Not like I'm proud of the fact.
I want to be your wife, I want to bear your child, I want to die knowing I had a long, full life in your arms.
Will you share your life with me for the next ten lifetimes?
There are so many dreams I need to see with you.
There are so many years I need to be with you.
Everyone tells you that the minute you get married every other woman in the world suddenly finds you attractive.
And all of a sudden, this pair of breasts walks by and smiles at you and you're like - "That's not fair!"
In a perfect world a miracle would happen.
I shouldn't care what she thinks since I can't fuck her anyway!
Don't despair, I'll be there.
I am a good person!
Stop looking at that, look at me.
Jesus Christ, I suck, I suck, I suck, I suck.
I will not be the girl who requires a man to get by.
Can we please for a minute stop blaming and say what you feel?
Did you think this would all be much easier than it's turned out to be?
If I didn't believe in you, we'd never have gotten this far.
Don't we get to be happy at some point down the line?
If I'm cheering on your side, why can't you support mine?
No one can give you courage.
I will not lose because you can't win.
He wouldn't leave me alone 'less I went with him to dinner.
I guess he was good in bed.
He blew me off with a heartfelt letter.
I can do better than that.
You don't have to change a thing, just stay with me.
I want you and you and nothing but you.
I don't want to throw up your walls and defenses.
It feels like my life led right to your side and will keep me there from now on.
Think of what's past, because we can do better.
Hey, kid - good morning. You look like an angel.
I don't remember when we fell asleep.
Nobody needs to know.
Come back to bed, kid.
Hold on, don't cry yet.
I won't let you go.
Maybe I could be in love with someone like you.
Goodbye until tomorrow.
I have been waiting for you.
I'm not the only one who's hurting here.
I don't know what the hell is left to do.
I could never rescue you.
All I could do was love you hard and let you go.
So we could fight, or we could wait, or I could go...
I didn't see a way we both could win.
Goodbye.
Rain
the-edinburgh-bully:
Joe loved it when she smiled; it was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen, especially in such a long time. Keeping his composure, he gave Miss Acacia a polite nod. “It’s good to see you as well. Edinburgh isn’t the same without you.” At her question, he shrugged. “I was looking over your postcards…and I decided to pay a visit.” Deciding that the comment would be enough of an explanation he quickly added, “You look lovely. Red suits you well.”
Seeing her shiver, he took his overcoat off and gently draped it over her shoulders. “Your colleagues said you’d be wandering around, I’m not surprised you did that, but shouldn’t you have brought a coat of your own?”
[}@{]
Feeling the coat rest on her shoulders, she took a moment to enjoy the warmth it still held. If Joe did one thing, it was care. Ever since she could remember he had cared about her, and it was one of the nicest feelings she had ever felt towards someone. A small ' thank you ' escaped her lips before she answered his question.
"I didn't think it would begin to pour so suddenly. If I would of known, I would of brought my own coat."
Looking over in the way of her caravan, she got an idea, and looked over to him with a glimmer of mischief alive in her eyes. "There's no use the both of us being cold. My caravan isn't far from here. We could run there and warm up."
Rain
the-edinburgh-bully:
He hated the rain. Hated how it ruined his clothes, hated that it made everything muddy, and he especially hated how it reminded him of home. Hell, at least Edinburgh was cleaner. The snow made everything so sleek and pure, which was more than he could say for Andalusia’s grubby wasteland. He just wanted to see it, didn’t he? No regrets at all…
But it would’ve all been worth it, to see the beautiful Miss Acacia perform, and give him that warm feeling in his chest. But of course, his driver was incompetent and made him late, and as soon as he asked for her, the other performers said that she had gone off to walk in the rain.
Typical of wild Miss Acacia.
And now, here he was, running through the growing storm; trying to cover out every roar of thunder, and cursing the wind. He wasn’t sure what he would be able to do, until his good eye caught sight of a small canopy. Drowning out the other thunder clap, he made his way to the only dry spot available, and–
stopped immediately.
As soon as he poked his head in, Joe’s eye widened. What luck! Dear Miss Acacia, right here under the canopy! He was about to greet her until he saw her eyes squint curiously. The faintest of smiles crept upon his face; the darling always refused to wear her glasses…said they made her look ugly. He had to disagree. When her sight was returned, he nodded and entered the canopy slowly. “Hello Miss Acacia.”
[ }@{ ]
The little singer felt a smile creep up on her face. Joe was her childhood friend; infact he was one of the only friends she made from her time in Edinburgh. He had always been tall, but now he towered over her, and she found herself craning her neck up just to look at him.
Slipping her glasses into their hidden pocket, she found herself rubbing her arms in attempts to keep herself warm as she spoke. "What are you doing here? It's such a long ways from Edinburgh." She couldn't help but notice his eye patch. It was quite the stark contrast to his otherwise very professional style; but not out of place. Paired up with his rather dark way of dressing, it made him look more like a villain than a friend. She could only hope that it wasn't too serious of a change.
"It's so nice to see you again."
Rain
}@{
It was raining. The show was closed, and Acacia found herself wandering the barren grounds alone. She didn't mind the rain; in fact, she loved it. It made her feel fresh, and the sound was like music to her ears. She didn't really understand it, but she was happy.
It wasn't until the first crash of thunder hit, did she start to worry. Maybe she should head back to her caravan. Looking in its direction, she wondered if she would make it before it really started to pour. If she got too wet, she feared she'd get a cold, and she couldn't afford that.
That's why when the second clap hit, she found the nearest spot of dry ground; underneath a canopy. Standing alone, she shivered, waiting for the rain to stop. Little did she know, she wouldn't be alone for much longer. Hearing footsteps, she turned her head, squinting her eyes. Someone was approaching, but she couldn't be clear on who it was. Putting on her glasses, it all became clear.
"Joe?"
