Love Mark's Jesus program, don't think he seemed really "on" his performance today but it was nice to be able to relax during the jumps after the last two

The thing that makes me crazy and so sad about Kamila isn't that I think she's bad, or something - she's good! She's SO good - of course she is!
But despite how good she is, she is still fundamentally a 15-year-old, and skates like a 15-year-old, in my opinion - albeit a super talented one! But there's just so much room to grow in terms of connection to the music, filling out the choreography, breath and pause, quality of movement, etc. None of these are flaws, just things that come with more maturity. (To be clear, this isn't a personal thing against her specifically! I don't think it's controversial to say that all young skaters naturally take time to develop in these areas.)
So what I'm trying to say is, imagine Kamila Valieva at 20. Imagine her at 23. IMAGINE what her skating could be at that point! Imagine how amazing she would be if she is just allowed room to keep growing and developing over a long career.
And I just get sad that the we'll likely never get to see that, because she's so likely to get pushed out in just a year of two by Akatieva (who is also great! nothing against her either). But it's just such an EXHAUSTING cycle of amazing girls who are constantly being recycled before they've even had the chance to show us all they're capable of.
I'm rooting for her to do awesome next week and take home that well-deserved gold, but I'm rooting even harder for her to stick around afterwards - she's got so much more to give!
Excited for locals to witness Mark Jesus Christ on Olympic ice.
The pumped up kicks remix is sending me rn. Thanks NBC for letting me watch nothing (nothing to watch we are inbetween events) and hear a masterpiece.
