Ginger and mint OC

So, I found this really good fic called Ginger and mint from @ginger-and-mint. It's available on ao3 and she has lots of small fics on her account too, so if you want to read a kink fic with good story and some fluff/angst, you should check out her account and fic.

But that's just some introductory words so people know who to give credit and where to go, now I'm gonna say something about my OC.

Yes, I've done this on picrew, because I suck at artisty things. I'm not good writer either, but my art skills are even worse than my writing.

Anyways, say hello to Firen, he doesn't have last name, but I was thinking about Hoover or something similar, because his family owns horse and cow ranch and from what I understood by reading, this fic is in sort of older times and people usually had surnames from the work or some physical trait.

Firen is a di-mage, second year during the present time, meaning he's around 22-23 years old, I will decide later. it's not like it matters

As I written before, his family owns a horse and cow ranch, it's a family business, his extended family owns some smaller ranches and shops with meat and tools over Zlott, on north side of mountain borders of Sumeria and North. He used to work there before he got the purple envelope, he even was expected to inherit the ranch.

This growing up with animals and around hard work, made him quite familiar with it and he has no problem with helping out. He loves animals, especially small animals like calfs or colts, and he has no problem working around them.

He is quite tall, almost 188cm, with muscles from years of helping around his family ranch. Because he spents lot of time on sun, he has tanned skin, with some patches of white from having vitiligo, condition where skin loses pigmentaton cells. He likes to wear longer hair, when he was younger he kept them short so they don't get in his way, but now he likes to keep them longer, often putting them in ponytail or bun. His hair are black with sort of white and seemingly greying edges.

Firen is always trying to be somewhat positive and helpful, he is trying to make nice first impression and be friendly and respectful both to people younger and older then him. Despite his friendly demeanor, he can get quite sharp when things like animal's health or someone's, who is weaker, well being is threatened, because he really doesn't like it and he doesn't like when someone is being too arrogant, even if they have a reason, they could be less annoying about it. He also likes cooking and being with his friends and family.

So, this is all for now, it would really help me if the author of Ginger and mint herself could say if she thinks it fits her lore, I would be glad to change it to make it more accurate. Yeah, you can comment and ask about him if you want.

I don't want to sound too bothering, I just like your work and your style. I wanted to ask, what do you think about OC's from your fandom?

I also wanted to say that, poor Eliott, I just read chapter 23 and I feel sorry for him. His mother sounded like a doting one from the start, but then I read Train ride and other chapters and I feel really sorry for him. Also, I noticed that Eliott is being called honey badger? Is it because of his dark hair or grumpy attitude?

hahaha yes I think I had an anon at some point who referred to Elliott as a honey badger! I believe it was mainly because of his grumpiness.

I wanted to tell you, that ypur work is amazing and I'm so happy I found your ao3 account, you're so good at writing and describing things.

Your world building is so interesting, and I wanted to ask, how exactly di-mages work? From your series Ginger and mint, I understood they cast spells by eating, but it would be nice to have more throughout informations about them. The concept of different mages is so interesting and it would be great to know more about them.

And I love when there are scenes with Ryder being stuffed, he's so cute.

Di-mages indeed cast spells by eating! The type of spell cast is determined by the amounts of different foods they eat, and in what order. The amount of food required is usually high (because... you know ;)....) although with practice, a mage can get better at casting with smaller amounts.

Because each spell requires such a big effort, di-mage spells are usually slower but more powerful than those cast by other types of mages

You know, I think I've had the same conversation Greyson had with Daisy with my own cat. Several times. We got him as a stray, but he runs the place now.

I'm glad to hear it! :D It's a short scene and in fact nearly done, so it will probably be posted by the end of the month

I have decided that when I add it to the Ginger and Mint work on AO3, I'm also going to add in the Train Ride bonus scene that I had previously only posted on this blog. The other bonus scenes I've written are mainly for fun, but I feel like this one and the upcoming one are important to the story and deserve to be in the work proper

hey! I love your universe! I always thought that any character with some kind of extra ability will *need* extra fuel ,so building a world aroun it, is pretty damn awesome ! I do love an occasional "less is more" scenario as well though: like what happens if a Di -mage loses capacity either through some kind of abdominal injury that makes them less stretchy or even something as mundane as being sick for a while and needing to catch up? what if Just a normal portion is too much ?

You asked this question at such a perfect time because that's directly addressed in my latest chapter. :D Essentially, here are some specific soothing techniques out there to help di-mages rebuild their stomach capacity... and we shall be seeing more of those techniques soon!

Thinking a lot about the different stages of being full.

When you first start to feel it. At a normal meal, you would have stopped eating by now. It isn't hard to keep going, but you're aware of the food travelling to your stomach, in a new way; stretching gently. Maybe your sides feel a little bit tight, or your waistband does. When you put a hand on your stomach, it feels denser, heavier. A pleasant overindulgence. You could stop, now, and drift into a thick, comfortable doze. Or– you could keep going.

You hit a point where the next bite's not so easy, anymore. You're thinking about swallowing, each time, instead of it happening automatically. Maybe you put your food down, for a moment, to catch your breath, and find it a little hard to pick it back up. Your belly doesn't just feel dense- it feels rounder, pushing out of its usual frame to spill into your hand, bulging out to accommodate your indulgence. The taste of food lingers in your mouth, at the back of your throat, even after you swallow. When you stand, your belly is a weight. It pulls at you, heavy, starting to get in the way when you move. Your body doesn't want you to keep going- you would have to do it by sheer force of will.

And then even will isn't enough. You're half-lidded, sprawled back to make room for your bulging stomach, breathing shallowly. You can't force the fork to your mouth. Chewing is a horrible chore. Swallowing is almost impossible. Your skin is tight, stretched thin over the massive ball of food beneath. It's not just your breath that's shallow- not just your lungs being pressed on by your massive belly. It feels like everything in you has been shoved aside by the sheer amount of food– even your thoughts. They're distant and fuzzy, consumed with the weight and roundness and tightness of you, the fullness, how your belly aches at the top, where new food is piled up, strains at the sides and bottom, where everything that came before is sitting, leadenly... it feels so good, and right, to be this way, even as you groan and pant and burp, stomach struggling audibly. Maybe you can force down just one more bite....

i have to admit it fantasy digestion scenarios where it takes someone a day or two to digest an entire meal are so good to me. either due to the massive quantity of food they ate or because whatever they had is simply going to take that long to break down, the idea of being that heavy and warm and sluggish, stuck with the roundest belly you've ever seen after just one meal or instance of indulging is so soooo hot. HOT HOT HOT. it probably wouldn't be that much fun irl, but the idea of being out of commission for that long, unable to do anything but lay there and process literal pounds of fat, sugar, protein and carbs for hours and hours is a hugee turn on to fantasize about good god.

the amount of energy their body would need to digest such a massive amount of food would put them out like a light. they'd be in it for the long haul with a ridiculously long food coma, but their tummy would be so heavy and sore and aching that they'd have to keep rubbing it while drifting in and out of consciousness...... dreaming about all that food and savoring the memory of what they ate the whole time.

especially hot if their full tummy won't stop groaning and bubbling, or if they're burping and moaning shamelessly in the whole time, too out of it to stifle their body's sounds out of politeness or do anything else.

an entire day benched from being so, so stuffed. more than what should even be remotely possible.

I think mild/comfortable stuffing is soooooo cute. character who's struggled to eat enough, maybe due to stress or mental illness or just lacking the energy to get themselves anything substantial. getting to have a nice, completely filling and satisfying meal that makes them feel warm and cozy in a way they're not used to. it might not be a lot in an absolute sense, but it's a lot for them, and their little tummy is packed full, rounded just a bit more than usual. they sit down, sleepy and blissful, rubbing their belly and letting out soft belches as they try to digest.
