Ever lift at kohls? Tips?😊💞

Kohls is pretty easy for me. I think it was the first place that I ever lifted clothes. Haha.I’ve heard on here that Kohls is super difficult, so it may be hard in some areas. I’ll just break down what you should look for and how to go about lifting from Khols.

-A friend of mine that worked there said that their towers can detect magnets and sends a silent ping to them to let them know. BUT, she also said that the SAs normally don’t see it in time to see the customer who walked in with it because they tend to stay busy. (This info was given to me yesterday, ironically)If you use a magnet, try to walk in at the same time as another person.

-kohl’s uses pencil tags and gator tags. They also put RFIDs on their earrings and other jewelry.

-If it’s legal in your state, Kohl’s has double sided mirrors in the dressing rooms. If it’s legal, they HAVE TO have a sign up that says that the dressing rooms are monitored. They can also be monitored by an SA through the shutters in the doors. Again, they have to have a sign up to let you know. Mine were monitored through the doors, but I never even saw an SA in the area.

-Their LP tend to be very serious about shoplifting. Don’t go into Kohl’s being obvious about what you intend to do, because their LP will follow you around via camera or one of the plain clothed LP will follow you around and watch you.

-Grab a buggy or a shopping basket and browse around. Grab what you want, then grab things that you don’t want to throw over what you do want. It helps to throw brighter, more noticeable colored items on top as decoys. Before you leave, don’t make your rounds to put everything back individually because if LP do happen to be watching you, they may notice that you never put back a particular item that they saw you pick up earlier and will high tail after you.I normally just pretend to answer my phone, say “I’m at Kohl’s. I’ll just meet you there right now.” then I “hang up” and lay my basket on a display table and leave.If they go to search your basket, you’ll most likely be gone if they notice that items are missing.

-Kohl’s is quick to call the cops on a shoplifter over a small amount of stolen items, so be careful.

Please Don't Lift If You're:

(Highlighted points are common things I’ve seen on Liftblr) •Pregnant - if you get caught you run the risk in some places to have your baby taken away from you after birth. •With your kids/with small children - the charges WILL be harsher and they can get taken away/you will have a restraining order/restriction for visitation put on you. •Feeling off - you need to be on your peek game. You WILL mess something up and heighten the risk of getting caught. •Not sober - especially when drunk it WILL be obvious and they automatically watch you more. •!!**Feeling greedy**!! - greed is your enemy. Greed is what gets you caught. If you don’t get caught in store, you run the risk of a store case building on you. Stores these days love to case build these days since the punishment will be harsher. •!!**Intending to do a large haul from one store**!! - that ruins it for other lifters. That also is very dumb in general since multiples of one item/a large amount of shrinkage will alert the store to a theft problem. •Under probation/semi-permanent watch - this is just asking for trouble and you’d think that it would be obvious but I’ve found a few lifters in my old jobs in retail who were on probation and begged me not to say anything. Don’t. Be. Dumb. •Are with a large group of friends - you’re already being watched just because there’s a lot of you. Most retail jobs train you to watch for large groups of people. It’s unusual and suspicious especially if there’s more than 5 of you. •!!**Constantly getting sussed/almost caught**!! - Lady Luck won’t always save you. You WILL reach your demise. In-store lifting probably isn’t your realm. Try scamming instead or hone your skills in an easier place like the dollar store or known easy stores (I’ve seen H0t T0pic listed as a really easy store) •With strict restrictive parents - if they’re nosey at home and you’ve got no private space that they have no access to in order to hide your stuff, don’t. For your own personal safety please don’t. ESPECIALLY IF YOUR PARENTS ARE ABUSIVE

I’ve never used the cotton ball method, I’ve heard about it but feel it’s outdated. To be honest nobody pays attention to me at ulta. I also never have huge hauls. When I go I get <5-10 things on average. Here’s my (very few) tips n tricks - I don’t even try palettes with the white boxes of death. Not worth it. - I’m nice to SAs. This is my biggest tip for ANY store. I always say hello and smile if they approach me - I always have a story. “I’m just killing time while my boyfriend is shopping/getting us food/etc” is my favorite excuse and it works - I go reallllllly close to closing. At one store I know who the LP guy is and once he was out on the floor talking to SAs because they were going to close in 10 minutes - Grab something you want, look around, swatch something, grab something else you want, swatch, smell, etc. Stick the things in your hand under your arm so you have both hands free to swatch a palette, go to your blind spot, put your items in your purse or decoy shopping bag - Hold your purse/shopping bag/both on one arm and drop things in with your opposite hand. I’m right handed so I hang my purse/bag on my left arm and toss things in with my right hand while I’m walking - I do the same stuff at almost every store so my tips are not helpful I’m sorry and I love you all

Good Stores For Beginners (in my experience):

Disclaimer; please keep in mind that everything is different regionally. Do your due diligence and research, scope, repeat before lifting. Also, it doesn’t matter how little security there is– sloppiness is what gets you caught.

• Dollar Stores - no cams, minimal staff, no tags since the merchandise isn’t worth enough for security measures. Good place to practice before trying your hand at different places. Watch out for ceiling mirrors. • Sally Beauty Supply - no cams [ usually, but still act like there could be ], minimal staff, no tags. Be wary of ceiling mirrors. No Chase policy but don’t try to be bold. They still notice and report anyone who is obviously stealing. • Hot Topic [ this is where I started mall lifting ] - usually no cams but that depends on where you live. Minimal-no tags [ however still be wary, I’ve seen them starting to use them now ]. Some have towers that DO sense magnets so be wary of bringing one since the towers will beep. You shouldn’t be really needing a magnet here though. • Ardenes - minimal cams, minimal [ usually inattentive ] staff, many times have tags but towers do not have magnet sensors. I’ve heard that some of the tags are dummies but please don’t use that as a reason to get greedy. De-tag any tagged items and conceal on floor. Change rooms often count in, but don’t always count on the way back out and sometimes don’t even check if items have been left behind. You need to scope to observe if this could be a scenario that applies to you. • Claire’s - minimal to no cams [ sometimes just has one single large cam in the middle of the store ] minimal staff, usually no tags [ at least I’ve never seen any ]. Same applies here as it does at Sally’s and the Dollar Store- sloppiness gets you caught. Don’t conceal on camera or in front of others and you should be good. • Michaels - minimal cams, plenty of blind spots, no tags since many locations keep valuable items in back and use display cards or boxes [ they can hardly update their POS system lol ] moderate but usually inattentive staff. Don’t conceal on camera. Don’t conceal in front of people. Scope first. • Toys R Us - minimal to no cams depending on location. They use rfid tags and spider tags on major electronics at some locations. Lego is often watched and has the potential to be tagged to check your Lego if you want to lift some. Minimal, usually inattentive staff. Don’t use the walkout method to steal large items and don’t try to steal a bike and you’ll be good. •Whole Foods - treat this as you would any grocery store. And don’t do the walk out

VS is going unmentioned since many locations are ramping up their security and being watchful of changerooms.

Also, I repeat, this is from my experience. Take this with a grain of salt because your situation could be different to mine. Use this as research only.

I’d like to add LaSenza - Cameras are well placed. But they don’t use tags, and you can do everything in the changerooms. In my experience, employees rarely count and are very inattentive. No towers.

La Vie En Rose - No towers, cameras, or tags at every location I’ve been to other than one outlet. Check. You can conceal everything on the floor if that’s the case.

The Body Shop - No tags, cameras, or towers. Some mildly attentive staff.

If you have to start somewhere, Claire’s and Ardene are the best. The majority of my beginning hauls were there. Never been I’m a Claire’s with cameras. The biggest problem was all the mirrors.

Ardene has only ever had one camera in the front in my experience. Check. But these are good places to bet have low security.

Claire’s and icing sometimes have stickers on the back of more expensive items (like sterling silver) but they’re thin and wimpy and fake. Always check to make sure!

So it’s been requested that there be a huge list of stores and the types of tags they use so here is kind of a first draft. I actually had a lot of this written down already so there’s also some general advice about each store. I’ve put down what I learned through research or experience so some stores may have less info than others. Remember this can vary depending on where you live and you should always check thoroughly for tags!

This is a guide on types of tags (with pics) and removal for reference:-)

Abercrombie and Fitch/Hollister Super tags that require a hook Black dome cameras, mostly near register, but the separate rooms make for easy concealment

Aerie/American Eagle Tags for items over $30-$40 In my experience the dressing rooms aren’t well monitored so I conceal there

Aeropostale No tags Personally I don’t shop here so I don’t have much advice about dressing rooms or cameras but as always scope out the store and leave if you’re sketched out!

American Apparel RFID and pencil tags Sometimes you can find things untagged. SAs count going into the dressing room but they don’t usually hover so you can conceal a few things

Anthropologie RFID

Bath and Body Works No tags! Few cameras (mostly by register) and easy to conceal; SAs will probably greet you but if you’re nice they’ll leave you alone

Barnes and Noble NEVER try to lift medical textbooks. Paperbacks are hardly tagged, especially books that have been out awhile, but still flip through them. If you are lifting a moleskin journal or something take the plastic off first. The best method is taking a school backpack, picking out a few books, then sitting for awhile, reading/doing work/etc then just sticking your new books in your backpack

Charlotte Russe I haven’t been in awhile so idk the tags but they do monitor dressing rooms. Once I went in an unlocked dressing room and an SA knocked and asked who gave me the room and why I didn’t have a card saying my # of items etc. However I don’t think they count coming out.

Claire’s No tags Lots of mirrors in Claire’s so watch for those when finding a blind spot!

DIck’s Sporting Goods Tags require a hook I believe; almost everything is tagged in apparel Someone has to unlock the dressing room but they don’t count items

Dillard’s No tags from what I’ve heard

Forever 21 Dome ink tags; require a magnet I don’t believe they use RFIDs, so if an item is untagged it’s probably good to go; However the dressing rooms are well monitored, so concealing on the floor is probably best 

Francesca’s No tags!  The stores are pretty small so concealing clothes can be a bit difficult, but if they don’t count in the dressing room you’re prob good to go. Jewelry is super easy though

Free People Attentive SAs; they like to start rooms for you. Conceal on the floor and try not to linger

Garage I believe some things have tags but I know there are things that don’t. Not many SAs in my experience so pretty easy to conceal if you find a blind spot. They also monitor dressing rooms pretty well

J Crew Tag items over $30 and uses RFIDs

H&M Not sure about tags Stores are generally big and the SAs stick to the register area so concealing isn’t very hard

Hot Topic Not exactly sure about tags but I don’t think they tag everything

Loft RFID Large store usually, and I don’t remember anyone ever monitoring the dressing rooms very much

Lush No tags! Small store and attentive SAs, so getting in out as fast as possible is best

Lululemon Most things are tagged (I don’t remember what kind) and SAs count going into dressing rooms. You can conceal things like leggings and shorts pretty easily, but only if you find a good blindspot since there are cams

Madewell RFID tags

Old Navy No tags Generally few cameras and dressing rooms aren’t monitored

Pacsun Ink tags or super tags, RFIDs inside cardboard tags. I’ve also seen gator tags that you can remove with a hair band Generally inattentive SAs, few cameras (still scope out in advance), don’t count going in dressing rooms

Starbucks No tags This is one of the easiest stores. After ordering a drink just pick up whatever stuff you want and hold it like you own it. As far as I know employees don’t really do much when merchandise goes missing, but make sure no other customers are paying attention

Sephora Some tags, likely RFIDs on palettes I don’t really mess with Sephora; lots of cams and attentive SAs

Target Black dome cameras all around the store. They count going into dressing rooms. Finding a blindspot is hard but can be done. Please be extremely careful here they have plainclothes LP that are generally pretty good and they really don’t fuck around lol

Urban Outifitters Black square tags that require a magnet; RFIDs in price tags I’ve heard they count going in and out of dressing rooms and that they use magnet sensors so be careful. I also believe they have LP but not much info on that

Victoria’s Secret Pencil tags that require a magnet, but they sometimes use tags that require hook so be prepared; tag almost all clothes and bras and the occasional panty Locations vary greatly, but employees can’t act on you unless they are sure you’re stealing. There’s a lot of advice about VS floating around, and most people conceal in the dressing room, using shopper bags to bring in a lot of underwear

Ulta RFIDs on palettes There’s usually a blind spot in the hair care section, but always scope out the area well. Pretty attentive SAs but just act like you know what you’re looking for

holy how to be safe on the internet, batman!

gather round children, it’s time for some cautionary tips. since the advent of this community there has been attacks and drama coming from all sides. the purpose of this post is so that you hopefully don’t experience the same things over again; those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it, blah blah blah.

so let’s get to it-

if you’re going to boost, do not say which website you are boosting on, do not link to where you boost items, do not say what items you are boosting, and if you want to be extra-safe don’t post pictures of things you’re planning to boost (even if you don’t say you’re planning to do that.)

I say this because more than one lifter has been doxxed through their boosting activities, and one had their information distributed to the stores in their area. 

if you’re going to say where you’re from, be vague. province or state is as specific as you should get. 

get an IP changer. I use chrome, and for chrome zenmate is the best option: it’ll let you set your location, it’s easy to figure out, and there are a good amount of areas to choose from.

if you blog from your phone: turn off location services. this way websites cannot record your location data, and when you take pictures they will not have gps data. 

run all your pictures through verexif: even if you have location services turned off on your phone, this is a good safety measure. verexif can tell you if there is any gps data on your photos, and it can take data off if there is any.

if you want to avoid attention, don’t have lifting-related words in your url. klepto (this one is ableist too if you have not been diagnosed with kleptomania!!), lifter, shoplift, steal, etc.

block people who are harassing you- on anon, off anon, big, small, red fish, blue fish- block them all! talking to them just encourages them.

don’t interact with people in the tag who are saying negative things. don’t encourage people who are looking for attention or a fight. it’s not worth your time, it’s not worth the negative attention, and it’s certainly not worth my time.

FOR THE LOVE OF THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT- DO NOT USE THE TAG. HOW MANY TIMES WE GOTTA SAY THIS. this does not just put YOU in danger, it puts ALL OF US in danger.

on-floor concealing methods

first and foremost, always conceal in a blindspot! if there aren’t any natural ones, duck down to create one or, if you’re with a lifting buddy, have them stand between you and the camera.

♥ clothing rack

pick up an item and walk over to a clothing rack. go to a clothing rack and, with the same hand as the item, pretend to look through the clothes. as your hand is deep in the rack, either sleeve the item or drop it into your purse. this is a great, natural way to create a blindspot. 

♥ double and sleeve

this is the most basic sleight-of-hand and is something every lifter needs to have in their tool belt. this works for long and small items, like lipgloss or mascara. grab two of the same item, hold them as if they’re one, and slide one into your sleeve. you can do this while swinging your arm to propel the item into your sleeve, or just put it subtly in with your fingers. 

♥ drop

this works for bigger items. wedge several items between your elbow and ribs.  “accidentally” drop one of them from your elbow into your bag as if you had too many items and one of them just fell into your bag accidentally. 

♥ lightning conceal

this one is literally just putting something into your purse as quickly as possible. ONLY do this in a blindspot as it’s very obvious the intent is to steal the item. 

♥ starbucks cup

get an opaque coffee cup, cut an X into the bottom, and shove little items (concealer, lip gloss, mascara etc) into it. if you do it properly they shouldn’t fall you. you can also pad the cup. 

♥ food bag

get a bag of food from the mall food court. eat some and leave some food in there. drop items into your bag. if you get sussed, you can eat food out of the bag. an alternative of this is to put a hole in the side of the bag and put items through the hole rather than just through the top of the bag. 

♥ armpit

tuck something under your armpit and either walk out with it there or walk to a blindspot and lightning conceal. 

♥ long skirt

wear tight spandex and, when squatting in front of a low shelf at sephora or ulta, push your skirt up slightly and slide a small item into it. pallettes may fit in the waistband. make sure you practice this at home to make sure they’re tight enough and nothing will fall out.

♥ phone

hold something small between your hand and your phone and then put your phone and item back into your purse like you’re only holding your phone.

Water bottle method

So I have a 54oz rove water bottle. It’s metal and opaque and I was thinking of using it for socks and undies at vs. I’m sure it could also be great for thinks like necklaces and rings in other stores. Maybe if I put socks at the bottom I can then use it in a beauty store to get lipsticks or eyeliners. Idk I’m excited to see what all I can get with this one water bottle

Lots of people asking how I did this, literally the easiest thing in the world.

So I went into a LV stand alone store, I didn’t actually go in with the intention of lifting just had some time to kill so went in for a browse.

So the first thing I notice is the amount of products out on display, not locked in drawers or in glass counters. Then I notice that there’s no security person by the door or else where in the store. Next thing I notice is no (visible) cameras, and then that there’s about 2 members on the shop floor.

The store is split into two levels and I’d already picked out my concealing spot. So I wonder over to the wallets, pick a few up, look inside to check for tags and to appear as though I’m genuinely interested in the item. Then whoop, there is goes under my armpit (favourite method).

On my way out I spot the bag which in on display in a little well-hidden corner. I again look inside to check for tags and look at the price etc. Then I slip it on my arm in between some other shopping bags and walk out. Easy peasy lemon squeezy 👌🏻

Just FYI if you thank employees on the way out unless they've actually been helping you the whole time, it's a red flag and pretty much tells them you've stolen something. Like every time a customer at my job did this, my manager knew and would pursue them and every time she was right. Customers just don't do that unless they're trying to act casual. Also don't awkwardly say goodbye. Normal is just leaving the store, if a sa says something acknowledge it.
