Jason during the end of Lost Days: I don't give a crap about the world. This was always about working through my feelings about Bruce.

Jason throughout every other section of Lost Days: I can't let them get away with this, I can't stand seeing innocent people hurt. I have an incessant need to see Justice Done. Talia looks at me and I can tell when she hears me say stuff like that that I remind her of Bruce but I'm not like Bruce and anyway what am I supposed to do? Let people keep doing evil stuff to others when I could use my abilities to stop them and help people? No, I can't do it. A part of why I'm so hurt by Bruce not just killing my murderer is because he's literally still running around and killing other people's sons and daughters.

Sorry I got thinking about Brothers In Blood again, specifically the scene where they try to paint Jason as Reckless and Dick as Thoughtful about their respective targets.

Because the books show the opposite for the most part- Dick's literally gets his ass kicked in the first issue of the collection because he didn't do any research on the Pierce Brothers(Shout out to Jason's monologue in the opening about how any self respecting superhero planning on moving to New York would know about the Pierce Brothers) and rushed in because he saw that they were beating on some guy without knowing that they're Metahumans. He loses his temper just casually seeing Jason during that photoshoot and just starts trying to kick his ass while they're both seen as civilians. He fucks Cheyanne multiple times without knowing anything about her or her life.

Meanwhile, Jason's inner monologue states that he actually bothered learning shit about the Pierce Brothers and throughout the series is mostly attacking them indirectly through their goons. When Dick catches him in the middle of trying to kill some guy he explains that he's a convicted rapist who fell through the cracks, because that's a thing that he knew about the guy. I wonder why he was standing underneath that balcony after Dick fell over, almost like he was spying on his targets instead of rushing in... Dick never finds out where Jason's staying but Jason knows where he lives and where he works and his phone number.

Mind, I don't even think Recklessness is a bad trait for a hero to have necessarily. But it is a Thing that the stated traits and the actual narrative beats contradict each other so obviously if you're paying attention to the traits the characters exhibit.

I was lead down the rabbit hole of the more "fucked up" characters that my brain latched onto. And I remembered Cozy Glow and got really sad about the way Twilight just gave up on her again- like one of the decisions of all time to create a school for friendship and then immediately give up the second a kid actually showed any difficulty in understanding the subject matter.

Honestly there's a little bit of, "My Goal at this school is friendship. I'm going to get a good grade in friendship, neigh I'm going to become EMPRESS of friendship. These are normal goals to have and possible things to achieve." Energy to it during Marks For Effort and School Raze that seems like a natural result of 'Making Friendship a thing someone can be graded on' and her tutoring consisting of a lot of rote recitation of facts (the scene where the paint bucket falls over and Sweetie Bell and Applebloom laugh and then Scootaloo shows her the Laughter card indicating how Cozy Glow is supposed to be reacting is... Something.) and random acts of altruism with none of the follow up that would actually cause a real friendship to grow from those acts. Being called a lost cause and thrown into hell alongside the Dictator Freak Squad made her become a worse pony (though Friendenemies is a great episode to point out how bullshit the idea of her being a lost cause was. Literally just team her up with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon or someone else who would be able to see her but not immediately hate her for being ambitious, manipulative and clever.)

Anyway I don't think I ever paid attention or heard the argument between Virgil, Logan and Roman properly during Learning New Things about ourselves and

Roman reverts back into season 1 comments so easily, "I'm not taking this from the guy who's always causing trouble" my brother in Thomas that's not even true anymore-

Logan's entire bit in that scene is that he didn't understand Virgil's idiom and it's actually kind of great- like he sounds so upset when he says "you what" and then you follow along with the closed captions and he's like, "I didn't even feel any heat when you lit fires under our butts... You're lucky they seemed to extinguish themselves on their own do you have any idea how dangerous fire is?" 10/10 bit.
