As much of a drag as this virus is, it is so wonderful to wake up in my husband's arms intertwined as we have always done for 30 years. We are two parts to a whole, twisted as we are. I love you Christopher @officiantguy I know that we will be very very busy as soon as this quarantine is lifted. He will be busy issuing marriage licenses and officiating weddings in So Cal, and I’ll be busy photographing celebrities, beautiful souls and bodies, flowers, working on my book project, setting up sessions in Ireland, and trying to set up my Long Beach art gallery @linusgalleries and getting the kids ready for college. My oldest, Dexter, just got into UCLA. Now I have to get the twins ready. I already miss him. Until then, I remain a flower unfolding with the man I chose to be mine for the rest of my life. Spring excites me. My creativity goes off the rails. This flower is about the size of a quarter in my neighbors’ yard. They’re new friends. For Throwback Thursday, I found this photo yesterday while I was cleaning up. I photographed this portrait that made it to the cover of Seattle Weekly about 20 years ago. The art director asked me to create a fashion image that embodied elegance but was still hip. At that time "hip" was a bit ugly. I tried to straddle my vision with common culture. Luckily my model was intuitive about the assignment. But what resonates with me always is photography that is timeless. I always want the viewer to NOT attach the image to a certain decade. A recent client was picking out their portraits and saw this print in my studio. He exclaimed, "Wow, you really clean these up afterwards, don't you?" Yes, I am an anal Photoshop perfectionist because my name goes on these. So everything is gone over with a fine tooth comb. We don't just spit them out.
