Heard about those fires.
Tarquin nuzzled his cheek against Finn’s shoulder as he stretched a little and relaxed once more, just wanting to cuddle and go back to sleep— which he quickly did— snuggling closer to the redhead’s side, the fingers of the arm between them sneaking to seek his companion’s hand out. But the other’s words roused him and caused him to look up, a smile threatening to bloom on his face until the redhead mentioned that he had planned on leaving— obviously while Quin had been asleep— and then it faltered and failed, the brightness in his blue eyes dimming. “But you said you would stay, so you had been lying?” He asked in a plaintive voice that was trembling and soft.
The boy sat up when lightly nudged away, keeping his head ducked as his face burned hot with embarrassment until he was sure he was beet red. What did he expect? Why did he think all of those lovely things last night meant anything and weren’t anything but drug induced sweet nothings— at least on Finn’s part who knew how he acted on them? Why did he think that he would stay? Or even want to? He was nothing— had nothing to offer the drug dealer. In that moment Quin’s naivete was exposed, his gullible innocence apparent as if someone had just smacked the words on his forehead. He really thought the older boy liked him. Tears suddenly pricked the backs of the brunette’s eyelids and he bit down on the supple flesh of his bottom lip hard enough that he was sure he was going to bleed— and then he gnawed at it until it was sore, making the tears go away, his hands coming up to rub at his upper arms as if he were trying to warm himself.
Taking a deep shaky breath, the boy nodded mutely and swallowed the stone in his throat, making sure he kept his eyes averted while he ran his fingers through his dark hair a few times and scrambled off of the bed to grab his boots, stepping into them before moving in front of the mirror glass that hung near the door. “What are we going to be doing?” He asked softly, licking his lips that looked oddly swollen from how hard he had been chewing them moments before, causing him to scowl at his reflection before his sapphire gaze darted over to Finn in the mirror, looking at the redhead who sat behind him in an old ratty armchair, while Quin stood there staring and hoping he didn’t notice the effect he had on him.
"Of course I had planned to leave. I was sure you wouldn't notice." he said the words bitterly as he looked at the other boy's expression. He seemed clearly hurt, but the redhead wasn't too sure why. In reality, they knew nothing about one another. Tarquin didn't have the slightest idea how cold and calculating Finneus could be. As Finn glanced at his companion as he stretched his long legs out on the chair, he didn't really feel any guilt at leaving him there in his sleepy form. He wondered if he had left during the night, if he would of gotten away with it. Surely the brunette wouldn't of given him much of a scolding - it wasn't like he actually promised to stay, but who knew?
Maybe half of last night had been caused by a drug induced haze; on Finneus' part. Or maybe the poppy had just brought out more of his true self, making him do the things he actually wanted to do with no worry about his reputation. Finn was betting on the first, but what did he know about true feelings? The man had no right to think about such things, for he didn't know how any of it worked. All he knew was that he hadn't had ever felt the things he did last night; he just wasn't sure whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.
Swiftly moving past the brunette like a ghost, Finn quickly sifted through his backpack in search of something he so terribly needed. Wading out a cigarette and placing it gently to his lips, the redhead lit it up before looking back at Quin with eyes full of pure excitement for the upcoming day. He watched the younger slyly out of the corner of his eye. His reaction to everything he did didn't go entirely amiss by him. The dealer was sure that he could get the boy to do anything he wanted. He could get anyone hooked on him and it definitely was the same case this time.
"We're going outside of the city."
