opposition to the “real women have curves” slogan always without fail drives me up the wall b/c people seem to be under the impression that it was created by some clothing company to make Cash Money when actually it originated as the title of josefina lopez’s play about the latina immigrant experience and her own deeply personal struggle to feel comfortable and confident in her body in a world that reifies thinness and european features, so like, seeing twiggy white women up in arms about it is just like… please… do better… and i say this as a twiggy white person lmao

im going to buy this play and am now inspired to do more reading about my community. latina women and latinx people are so incredible and powerful and creative. and i didn’t even know this play existed. i will do better and educate myself on the lives and stories of the women who came before me.
