Has anyone else had a day when their legs are like 'Nope not today there's a person behind you who is apparently a judge so I'm not going to do it'. Actually happened to me yesterday. There was a dude behind me who was watching me and he WAS A CLRG JUDGE! Every jump I did I fell or it sucked. I felt like I was in beginner again! #sofrusterating

Do you know what I love about Irish dancing?

It doesn’t require a specific body image. It’s a sport for everyone — regardless of shape, size, weight or colour.

I know that some of you are probably thinking “yeah right” and think about how most girls may seem slim, muscular or petite. I’m telling you one simple fact:

IT ISN’T TRUE.

When I started dancing as a young child, I saw girls of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds on stage with me. It didn’t matter what we looked like. It STILL doesn’t matter what you look like.

You know what matters?

The most important thing for you as a dancer, male or female, is your love for the sport and the art. Rather than focus on something trivial like appearances, focus on the fact that you are one of many who have taken up a sport that many people couldn’t handle.

Don’t believe me?

I have friends who were hockey players, cross country runners, swimmers, sponsored athletes and dedicated gym-goers who told me they could never do what we do. It demands stamina, discipline, perseverance, core training, strength, courage and willpower to go up on stage and dance. They only see the appearance, not the hours upon hours of blood, sweat and tears that go into out training — all for a few minute on stage.

Be proud of who you are. Demand everyone’s attention on stage the minute you step onto it. Show the world what you can do — that you’re more than just your image.

We are dancers. We are athletes. But most of all, we love doing what we do! Irish dance is about passion, athleticism and strength — that defies physical boundaries like appearance!

I need new Rutherford soft shoes and I seriously don't know which ones to buy! I have a pair that I bought in a hurry at the oireachtas so I have no clue what brand they are except for the fact that they are Rutherford's... Opinions ?
