“of course! who could say no to such a treat?” nara shook her head up and down eagerly in agreement, the movements joining in on her exclamation. she was aware that in the rules she had to follow as per being part of the company, she had to refrain from indulging the trainees in all activities that would lead to them not following their strict training, but at the same time she realized that having a proper eating session after an exhausting dance class was a must. so she indulged nuri in her shenanigans, at least for today. “whoa, you’re my favorite trainee, you know? i’ll treat you to a meal later this week. but only if you promise not to tell anyone, i need a means to survive, you know.”

         Nuri handed over the extra food to Nara along with a drink to go with it. She smiled up at the dancer and nodded happily when the other said she would treat her. “You really don’t have to, but I’m not going to ruin my chance at a good meal if you do.” Nuri was known for being able to eat a lot, even when she was allowed. She wasn’t sure if it was a fast metabolism or the fact that she stayed until three in the morning and practiced dancing at least four hours a day in two hour intervals. Even though she was better at rapping, she was working extra hard to be on the same dancing level as some of the other trainees. “Maybe one day me and you can dance together. I could really learn from you.”

It really had been Solji’s own fault for believing that she would be able to ever have a moment of peace, especially since the moment included hiding away to answer some text messages that she’d had the notifications for all day. 

So when she felt the body pressing up against her back and the weight on her shoulder, Solji locked her phone on instinct before turning her head slightly to see who it was. “You scared me,” she mumbled, only pouting just a little bit. “And I was texting my grandmother! And no, I’m not dating anyone,” Solji assured Nuri, laughing softly. “And even if I was, I wouldn’t be telling anyone, especially not you. You can’t keep secrets.”

         “I can keep secrets if they’re actually secrets. Like if you were really dating. I wouldn’t tell anyone. Don’t trainees have a pact for that type of stuff? Unless you’re out for yourself.” Nuri pouted and leaned against the other, turning to stare at her friend. “That’s cute you were texting your grandma though. I already sent my aunt a good morning text. Do you miss them?” Nuri could definitely say she missed her aunt, but she was already used to being independent, not wanting to stress her aunt out considering she hadn’t asked to take care of Nuri in the first place, even though she was selfless and did anyway.

         NURI LEANED OVER THEIR SHOULDER to see what they were doing, a rare moment of affection she usually didn’t share with just anyone. Well, it was mainly reserved for the group of trainees she was with, but really anyone she’d known there for awhile and felt like she connected with. “What are you looking at? Who’re you texting? Are you dating? What’s their name?” She would never ask those types of questions except to tease the other, which is exactly what she was doing. “If you’re dating someone, I have to interrogate them. It’s the rules.”

         The clock ticks, the building b r e a t h e s.

          His footsteps are quiet as he walks down the hall, an apathetic look on his face wiping away any sign of emotion. He lets his gaze glance over the doors, not needing to look at the numbers to know which room was which, he’d been walking these halls ever since Century had expanded from a small company building to an intimidating highrise that cast a shadow over everything below. The irony was not many people wouldn’t remember that small modest building, hell there were some idols in this building who weren’t even born at the time of his debut, yet his name is one often spoken of, his presence more like a ghost story than reality; always whispered, yet hardly ever witnessed.

          Royal preferred to do his business in the middle of the night, wanting to avoid the stares of staff and younger idols. A part of him was used to it, he’d been dominating the Korean entertainment industry for seventeen years, helped skyrocket Century’s influence onto the map. Yet dealing with it on a daily basis, wasn’t something he actively wanted to put himself through. Pushing open the door to the room he usually used as a dance studio he found himself cocking his head as he was faced with another person occupying it.

          “It’s late.” He drawled, steely gaze. “You should be at home sleeping.”

          Nuri had been practicing most of the night. Even though she liked to push limits, and probably ANNOY staff more than some of the other trainees, she also worked just as hard, if not more. She wasn’t the type to just spout she needed a break or the trainees needed some food for energy only to lay around most of the day and take advantage of what she could get from staff. No, she was one of the ones in the training rooms at three or four in the morning, going over choreography and making up her own in order to impress the people who need to be impressed. She didn’t train three years through countless days of little to no sleep, strict diets, and numerous lessons not to debut with the upcoming girl group. 

           She’d just finished dancing to one of the songs when the doors opened. She turned around, EXPECTING it to be another trainee or a staff member saying she had to wrap it up, but what she got was....Royal. Nuri liked to test people, sure, but she was also respectful. And considering the man had been in the entertainment industry for so long, you had to be.  Even though her eyes were questioning,  she bowed,  and looked back at him, surprised at the sudden statement.  “...Sorry sunbaenim. I was practicing choreo.”  She’d rarely ever seen him, but she knew about him of course, since he was basically the face of the company. She didn’t say anything else, but there was almost an edge to her words. She wasn’t planning on leaving.

               "how LUCKY am i that you came in my time of need?“ after back-to-back dance practice and vocal practice, he hasn’t gotten much of a much-needed break in between. he had been so focused on assuring his improvement that he didn’t even REALIZE he was starving until she announced she had food. he’s well aware of the fact that he’s on a strict diet, staff voices echoing ‘ youngkyun, don’t even think about it ’ in his ear as he sits down across from her, but he is SHAMELESS, eager to eat anyway. “how’d you manage to sneak these in? were the hallways just conveniently empty?”

        She happily handed him a lettuce wrap filled with delicious goodness and an extra drink she was saving for later but decided to give him anyway. “I got it from a restaurant down the street. I just hid it in my bag. I’m pretty sure one intern saw me, but I hissed at them and they ran away...so..” She shrugged and stuffed her face with another bite. “I don’t care if they say anything at weigh ins. All that matters is my ass looks good in some shorts, and it does, so I’ll eat as much as I want.” She had never been particularly bothered by cold or blunt statements about her weight. It bothered her when she was a teenager and insecurities ran high, but now as a twenty year old, she’d heard enough from staff not to let it get to her.

      “I got lunch. Do you want some? I snuck in the goods.” She didn’t always treat herself, but after a long and exhausting week of training and eating healthy, she thought she deserved it, whether or not the staff approved. She usually also got snacks and stuff for her fellow trainees when she could, wanting to make sure they ate. She couldn’t stop how strict some of the diets were, but she took responsibility for her juniors’ health especially. And sometimes she was just in the mood to break rules. “I even got some manju for dessert. We can split it. ”

           "You know, it’s been two days already, but I still feel like I smell like peroxide.“ He mused absentmindedly tugging at a strand of his hair, which was now such a light shade of blond, that in some lights it bordered on looking grey. It hadn’t been a fun process, in fact, it took three different bleaching treatments to get it this light, and when the hair stylist said they wanted to do a forth to get him to white he had promptly put his foot down, not wanting to risk having his hair fall out. "Also on top of that, now I’m pretty certain my hair is more thirsty than I am.”

         “Really? That intense, huh?” Even just being a trainee, Nari was very used to seeing many different colors of hair around the company and knew they would most likely be doing her hair just as much once they debuted. She didn’t mind the hair colors, but she knew there was only so much a person’s head could take before it messed with the health of their hair. “They dyed my hair for an event once. It wasn’t pleasant to say the least. I’m pretty sure they had me go back to my regular hair right after anyway. If you want, I can recommend you some hair treatments? My aunt works with a lot of models and hair stylists, so I’ve gotten a lot of tips over the years. It might save your hair from drying out.”

        Maybe you’ve seen [KIM NURI] around century records.           Hello, my name’s Percy, and this is my precious bb Nuri I’ve been thinking about making for awhile. Basically, she’s a gay icon who was supposed to debut in Wanderlust but the company decided she hadn’t trained enough/picked an older trainee over her, so she’s now been training three years. Nuri is really protective over other trainees since she’s been there a good chunk of time. She tends to push boundaries and call out bullshit more than someone usually would if they were new, but obviously she can’t control everything. 

Nuri grew up with her aunt, after her single mom couldn’t handle the stress and went to go live somewhere else instead of take care of her. This is why Nuri is so comfortable in her sexuality and self because her aunt is gay and a successful photographer who taught her to own who she was. 

Nuri dabbled in underground rapping when she fifteen & sixteen, charming people even though she stood out like a sore thumb. Someone from century saw her perform and scouted her. Realizing there was potential to actually turn it into something, she took the opportunity and joined even though she never even thought about being an idol. 

Nuri's strong points are rapping and dancing, though she has the ability to sing as well. She used to dance when she was younger, so getting back into it as a trainee was something she actually enjoyed. 

Nuri knows she can’t exactly come out, but she doesn’t really hide her sexuality either. She knows that the majority of people see affection between girls  as completely platonic and uses this to her advantage. She can basically be as gay as she wants, and no one even bats an eyelash. Honestly living the dream???
