Jean Grey: Look, the Professor trusts me to fly a giant jet. He wouldn't trust the rest of you to take care of his dentures.
Jubilee: [wearing the Professor's dentures] Yes, he would.
Jean: In hindsight, I might have gone too far in a couple of places.
Shi'ar: You ate a sun.
Scott: Hey, she was very hungry, so you can't hold that against her.

Jean Grey as the Phoenix In Uncanny X-Men (1963)
youāre a firecracker. and i am an atom bomb.
original dps is sexy because jean could set out across the galaxy destroying planet after planet full of life and scott would follow her and love her anyway
original dps is even sexierĀ because ultimately, jean would never do that and she chooses love over destruction, even if that love means her own death
scott saysĀ āi will betray everything iāve ever believed in for the phoenixā and jean saysĀ ābut i wonātā
[after the X-Mansion gets attacked and blown up (again)]
Cyclops: You could have called us.
Kitty Pryde: You took our phones away.
Jean Grey: You could have used a landline.
Bobby Drake: I donāt know your numbers.
Storm: You donāt know our numbers?
Rogue: Whatās my number?
Everyone: ...
Wolverine: Three.
Rogue: No.

āThank you.ā Halvor had been proud to die for the cause at the time, but leaving behind Raynor and his entire life was something else. āYou think so? Itās like living on borrowed time. How do you fit in all the things you want to do before itās up?ā He asks not even as a serious question as he shrugs his shoulders. āWe do understand each other, different experiences, but also similar too. Death is a strange thing. I always worry too that thereās a catch to being alive again ā like spending bad will happen.ā
āyou just do,ā she spoke from place of unique experience. few people had as many chances as jean had to get it RIGHT. āyou get up every morning and you live each day. you donāt have to fill every moment. you just have to do exactly what you want to do - itās rare to get a chance to do that again.ā and she couldnāt blame him for thinking the way he did. the REAL shock would have been if halvor had woken up knowing exactly how to proceed from moment one.Ā āsomething bad is always just around the corner. living those moments isnāt...- a catch, or wrong. theyād come without the resurrection, and theyāre part of the experience.āĀ

āiāve been a lot of places ms. grey, iāve not seen anyone else that can do what you do.ā well, sure, on much smaller scales. or with the involvement of that pit. or not being from earth at all. or a clone. we donāt get involved with superpower shit, his dad had told him on a handful of occasions. and then he turned out to be one of them- of course, on a much smaller scale.Ā āso mutants and meta-humans- is there much of a difference there?āĀ
āyouāre flattering me.ā perhaps no more than she deserved, but jean wasnāt one to have such thoughts independently. she was one of the most powerful mutants on the planet - and more than that, she was the one true host of the phoenix force, an entity that could scorch the very universe to the ground, if it so chose. heād have been hard done by to find anyone alive with that amount of power running through their veins, and even more hard done by to find someone out there with quite as much humility as jean possessed. āi donāt think there is,ā perhaps, she was the minority. ātheyāre both genetic anomalies. the only realĀ difference seems to be that metahumans can go their whole life without developing their power ; and even at that, whoās to say that mutants donāt exist in the exact same boatĀ already? just because the research hasnāt been done, doesnāt mean that itās not true.ā
blindjcsticeā:
āHuh.ā Her death, or the fake that it had actually happened, wasnāt a well known factāher family deciding it was the best way to keep her identity a secret after she had come back. Sheād seen a therapist about, not that they were any she could find that specialized in people that came back from the dead.Ā āI assumed the came back part. I donāt think ghosts would appreciate therapy that much.ā She joked.Ā āIt seems like a useful therapy group. I donāt think many superhero or superhero-adjacent people stay dead for long.ā
āyouād be surprised. emotions can be pretty tumultuous, as a specter,ā she could TALK,Ā āthey might benefit just as much as everyone else.ā jeanās time as the closest thing to a ghostĀ someone could get was still fairly fresh, and she remembered how everything had been heightened - how she had felt RAGE instead of just anger, passion instead of love. it wasnāt unlike another point in her life, though she shuddered to think.Ā āthey donāt, do they? you know, there was a time when i almost thought that i had rewrote the rules weāre playing by,ā it was one of her only self obsessedĀ thoughts, and it stemmed from fear.Ā āthen i realized..- it was something else, entirely. i think we need to start addressing it, more. itās not RARE anymore.āĀ
ofnarcissvsā:
quin had come back to life. he had missed the first few months of the twinsā lives. he had missed their first smiles and giggles. they were small when he first met them but they had been SMALLER when they were born. which he missed. because he died and wasnāt around. when he had come back , he dove right into everything that he was doing before he died without a second thought. he never really stopped to think about what he went through or how hard it probably was on him. he never stopped to think about his own emotions and like before he died , he buried them. it was easier to bury them after coming back than deal with anything.Ā ā iāve made peace with it ,Ā ā a COMPLETE & UTTER LIE. quināsĀ ā at peaceĀ ā simply meant that he ignored it. how do you deal with coming back to life but not recognizing your own body because youāre part plant ?Ā
āhave you, really?ā it wouldnāt have been fair to argue, and jean never would have dreamt of doing so. she had been in quinās position. more than ONCE, at that ; and some might have even argued that her level head about it all, now, was still a semblance of it. could anyone ever really make peace with the dying and the return? - she couldnāt say. experience was a teacher, and my god could it be a brutal one, but who out there living with that truth could honestly say that there had never been a point where the thoughts in their head grew too loud, or their sense of belonging had suffered? who could say that they hadnāt had a sleepless night or a hundred? that they had come back whole? jean couldnāt. and she was perhaps the only one in the world with such an intimate sense of what she was talking about.Ā āyouād have to be stronger than anyone iāve ever met, to be past it. i donāt doubt that you might be, but i do question whether you believeĀ what youāre saying, or if youāre just being... what everyone expects you to be.āĀ
jean: diamonds are a girlās best friend :)
