⟢ note: the long awated robin hood based verse. this verse is mostly to write with all my dc / marvel mutuals. the only thing that's different in this verse is that zuko doesn't use his firebending. it's just pure martial arts, and sword fighting. the reason for that is that... there are already too many fire related powers in them both, and i didn't want to make zuko just one of them, if that makes sense? also the fact that he uses the blue spirit persona in the show to be a vigilante and save aang... top tier, me thinks <3
⁽⁰¹⁾ zuko, the son of a rich beijing tycoon, has been banished from their establishment on mainland china by his father, ozai rán, for speaking up against his corruptness. ozai uses his money to play with the lives of the people in china, all from enviromental damage, to tax evading. he's just a fucking pos, so he does everything he can to use people, buy people, tweak everything from governmental to economical for his own good.
zuko still has his scar, it happened on a similar pattern as in canon, but instead ozai pushed his face into a fireplace. the scar was so bad, so gross that even plastic surgeons couldn't save his eye. his scar in this verse is a bit milder than canon, but it's still very visible. he is blind in his left eye, and has about 30% hearing in his left ear.
he grew up learning martial arts and fighting with swords, as did everyone in their family. his sparring partners used to be his sister and cousin lu ten. he was homeschooled most of his life, and their mother left the family when he was very young. she never reached out for them, and whenever zuko and azula would try, they'd get shut down. they gave up in the end and learned to grow up together.
⁽⁰²⁾ after his banishment, zuko is sent to the us, to be a "scout" for his father. why would ozai want zuko to be a scout for him in another country, when he already had hands all over the world to do that for him? it was mostly to get zuko out of the way, and get him killed. zuko survived a few assassination attempts sent by his father. in a way, taking on the mantle as the blue spirit was to fight back and show his father that he wasn't as weak as he thought he was.
the blue spirit pays a homage to his mother, and the love she had for southern chinese folk opera. the nuo mask depicts "the dragon king" - a chinese water and weather god. that zuko chooses to wear this mask when he's being sneaky and underhanded speaks to show how clever he can be when he's not being hotheaded.
the persona started as a way to protect himself, but it ended up becoming so much more than that. his main goal was to protect the innocent government people, or investors, or art collectors his father was after. it expanded to civilians with time, and soon people were talking about the blue spirit all over town.

zuko has a degree in international politics. he does the rich people events, he donates a lot of money to orphanages and tries to help as much as he can.
zuko's location actually depends on where your character is. it can be from any city in all of dc or marvel, i don't mind adapting him. zuko will probably be the "new comer" almost every time though.
as dc and marvel is set on a modern universe, then it is only right for me to let everyone know that zuko is han chinese, beijinger / taiwanese. ursa is from taiwan, and that's where she went when she left the family.
iroh followed zuko to the us when he got banished. he didn't want to leave him alone, and lu ten was understanding on this. both lu ten and azula visit them often. zuko would like if azula could just move in with them, and he has asked her a few times but she's always said no.
zuko is totally different on / off mask. when he is the blue spirit, he never talks unless its absolutely necessary. his answers are always short, he never says more than what's needed, and he is never one to initiate small talk. but when he doesn't wear the mask, he is the biggest yapper in town. so if he catches you in one of those events, run the opposite direction <3
he doesn't have his license. why would he need to have it when he has people driving him around?
