Sokka: we found Zuko wandering the parking lot of a 7eleven at 3am.

when he was little, sokka always wanted to do his hair with traditional braids, but he couldn’t figure out how to do them. he could do large braids easy, but his fingers just couldn’t make the little ones work.

one night, he and zuko stay up late talking and somehow, they end up talking about that. sokka just means it as a funny story (he failed a lot of times trying to do it as a kid), but zuko makes him an offer.

from that point on, they make it their thing. each night they sit in bed, sitting a little too close together, while they talk and sokka practices his braids on zuko’s hair. it’s long, which makes it easier to work with.

slowly, sokka improves until he feels confident doing it on himself, and he does. always. but he doesn’t stop doing zuko’s hair. their late night talks are too special, even if the braids became second nature.
