Poison Review: Holly

Holly is a Christmas time icon, I don't know why though because the fruit arrives quite a while before Christmas. These are a wide reaching highly diverse genus of tree having over 500 difrent variations, and is unfortunately very invasive in a lot of places, birds love to eat the fruits (which are actually drupes rather then berries) and spread them around. The trees can thrive in shade and thus out compete many native trees. You should not eat Holly because of the fact that it can contain a large number of toxins depending on the species, it can cause vomiting and diarrhea.¹ that being said I've always wondered what they taste like

I am a 6 foot tall women and olny taste these and then spit them out it would take approximately 20 fruits to affect a child and I tasted 5.

Taste: this one was quite surprising! The taste was very lightly sweet, with a sort of vegetal taste akin to the smell of ivy, the interesting part was that it was mildly nutty and warm with hints of cinnamon like flavors, it did not taste like any specific nut or even quite like cinnamon but it was unmistakably in that ball park. The after taste on the tongue is down right pleasant mostly just a nice warm aura. 8/10

Texture: there is extremely little meat on these druits, and very little juice, the plant is dominated by large seeds that make the experience unpleasant. There is no path for your teeth that does not intersect with a location of a large seed. 3/10

Poison Review: Laurel Cherries

Cherry Laurel are a very very common evergreen ornamental shrub, and is actually related to the common non poisonous cherries. You should not eat these because they contain various cyanogenic glycosides, which break down into cyanide in your body, and potentially has just straight up hydrogen cyanide. Or well, okay that's the hard part about doing stuff like this, the seeds for sure have all that, the wood for sure has all that, the fruit though? Well almost everyone says the fruit flesh is also poison and some people say the fruit is edible as long as you don't eat the seed. You should not risk it this can kill you dead.

I am a 6 foot tall women, who is only tasting these and then spitting them out, I have also done a lot of research.

Taste: really interesting actually, don't get me wrong it's bad, like it's not good at all. I'd say it tastes kinda like other stone fruits, it sorta kinda close to plum? Like if you uh imagine it. But I can't overstate this it is so bitter, and a very interesting type of bitter, it makes your whole mouth dry. I'd say its close to switch cartridges from what people have told me. The fruit is also very very slightly tart. 3/10

Bonus taste: God i I wish the inside of the bark of this thing did not taste so good, it tastes exactly like an almond poppy seed muffin (that's the cyanide) it's got the almond the kinda grainy flavor and the acidic flavor it's so fucking good but it will kill you, I wish I could taste it more. 9/10

Texture: actually pretty close to a plum or apricot or one of those freak mixtures of both. Very pleasant mouth feel overall actually, it feels like something enjoyable to eat. 8/10
