original story concept: flight feathers (working title)
aka me shoving my new OCs in everyone's faces for a few minutes. low and behold, my gang of losers:
from left to right: Phoenix, Selene, Helios, and Killian
so a wayward beam of divine insanity lightning struck me about four months ago in the form of the first genuinely coherent original story idea i've had in... basically forever and i am finally crawling out of my mad ornithologist lab to talk about it, if only so i have something to point to when i start tagging random innocuous text posts with the names of characters no one's ever heard of. this project is perhaps the most self-indulgent Autism Fueled venture i have ever gone on and it is so fun actually
the basic gist of the story is that local Teenage Bird Hater Selene accidentally gets isekai'd to a Greco-Roman/baroque-inspired city on a floating archipelago hidden in the clouds, inhabited by bird-worshipping winged people. there she befriends a strange one-winged fortune teller named Phoenix, who takes her in while she looks for a way back down to earth.

MALIK WHITE in BLACK ADAM (2022) #2
First of all, this āblack equals bad, white equals goodā crap: you do realize we donāt do that anymore. Secondāyour guy is dying. Gave me his ringāleft me in charge, right? Well, thenāa transporter, you say?
Finally made some more art! This is a MHA/Star Wars mash-up because it just makes sense to me that Anakin has Bakugou vibes
WIP of Witcher!Yen
Trying out procreate for the first time! Iāve only sketched before on paper so this is definitely a challenge š
Rewatching S1 of The Witcher and I forgot how fucking GOOD that scene at the end of episode 2 was where Jaskier is playing Toss a Coin for the first time and itās cutting between the Aretuza Eel scene and Ciri and Dara and itās just so RAW like what I wouldnāt give to be able to experience that again that scene is the SHIT and just argh amazing
So Iāve been trying to come up with some possible ideas for the significance of Jaskierās jewelry this season. First, this is the necklace we are given:
Obviously thereās the tuning fork, as an artist he is probably using that to tune his lute, I know Iāve done that with my mandolin and guitarĀ
But I definitely have some questions about the ring. Itās just a plain gold ring. Itās not the one form the first season, that one had a thicker band and symbols on it. So where is it from? Is it a past loverās ring? Is it one that he has been saving for someone? Does he just keep a gold ring on hand for fun?Ā
And then the ring Jaskier wears on the middle finger of his right hand this season is also different from last season. It looks more like a knot design than anything else.Ā
Season 1 on the left and Season 2 on the right
He switched both what the ring was and the placement of the ring on his right hand. Thereās a lot of possibilities as to why or it could be heās just a bard with lots of different jewelry and he wants to be fancy.Ā
If anyone has ideas feel free to add them!Ā
Just thinking aboutā¦Jaskier calling Yennefer āmy wifeā as an inside joke and then slowly over time Yennefer realizes she likes hearing it. Maybe it isnāt a joke. Maybe she likes the way his name rolls off his tongue and she wants to call him husband in returnā¦
Oh wait I just wrote that š
Read:
Don. Veish. Mein.
There are two reactions Witcher fans have to this Jaskier quote:
āThey come for the Elves, Yennefer. Theyāll come for the dwarves. And sooner or later they will come for everyone. Anyone that they deem the āotherā soā¦ā
1) non!human Jaskier headcanons are alive and well head so empty
2) Jaskierās emphasis on āotherā is an indication of his queer identity in this essay I willā¦
Or possibly people are having both reactions simultaneously
Iām actually surprised more people arenāt picking up the reference here: This quote is referencing a famous poem about the holocaust.Ā First They Came..., by MartinĀ Niemƶller:Ā
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak outā Ā Ā Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak outā Ā Ā Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak outā Ā Ā Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for meāand there was no one left to speak for me.
When I first heard Jaskierās quote this poem was the first thing that came to mind. It used to be really famous, even having a picture book adaptation calledĀ āTerrible Things,ā by Eve Bunting. Iām genuinely surprised itās no longer in the common consciousness.Ā
@cracks-and-chaos I actually made a post about that thereās a reason this post says āfan reactionsā and not āwhat is this referencingā because I think the poem is pretty obvious but a lot of fans used it to craft some of their own theories based on the meaning of the quotation.
As well, many people reference it as a poem but the poetic form was popularized off of Neimƶllerās lectures. There are actually different versions of this quote because Neimƶller would often speak extemporaneously at events and didnāt use the same wording every time.
Pretty interesting real-world tie-in the writers used for the show!
The way that Eskelās death and Ciriās possession were directly meant to mirror each other is just---Ā
With Eskel, Geralt makes the final blow, he sees Vesemir in danger and makes the call. Similar to Ciri if they had just had more time, created the right potion, spoke the correct spell, he could have been saved. But Geralt made the choice to save Vesemir at the cost of Eskel.Ā
Then with Ciri, when Vesemir goes to make the same move, to kill Ciri to save the others, it is now Geralt standing in his way, refusing to let Vesemir make the final blow. Now obviously Ciri holds the future of the continent in her hands and killing her wouldnāt stop the demon the same way you can stop a Leshen but the parallels are clearly meant to be seen by the audience.Ā
The first time Geralt is making the killing blow. The second time, he is standing in the way.Ā
Can we talk, I mean CAN WE TALK about the implications of Fringilla being taken away alongside Cahir. Because for all the fellow fans of the books we know what this means. Because Cahir being imprisoned by Emhyr and being labeled as a traitor to Nilfgaard is what leads to him joining the Hansa alongside Geralt and Company.Ā
So what Iām hearing here is that we are going to see Fringilla joining up with the Geralt and Ciri and Yen crew sometime in the future. IF THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS I WILL LITERALLY ----
I think itās pretty clear to many people who watched The Witcher that this Jaskier quote from S2E04:
āThey come for the Elves, Yennefer. Theyāll come for the dwarves. And sooner or later they will come for everyone. Anyone that they deem the āotherā soā¦eventually no artist is safeā
Is meant to mirror this quotation from Pastor Martin Niemƶller referring to the Nazis:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak outābecause I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak outā because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak outābecause I was not a Jew. Then they came for meāand there was no one left to speak for me.
And they really donāt try and hide this fact either. They use the same anaphora and general sentence structure
But just for those who maybe missed it (letās be honest it was a fast paced season) Here you go!
