When Dib had found a lost tape that explained sea life that could talk && wear clothes, he had to see if the strange occurrence was real. In an act of desperation, the boy told his father that maybe some vacation time would help his insane mind, && it was off to the beach for them. Of course he’d snuck into Membrane’s lab beforehand for some things he’d need for his exploration. Shrinking ray ? Check. An advanced scuba suit that made it possible to go to the deepest depths && never run out of oxygen because his dad is a genius ? Long name, but check. Soon enough he was ready to find this Bikini Bottom, && after using the equipment, he went exploring.

Who would have known he’d actually find it ? Surprise && wonder lit up onto his face. He knew space creatures talked && had their own civilizations, but FISH ? Incredible ! Dib was so excited he was almost unsure what to do, until he saw a crab walking along- that was wearing a suit. Okay. He had to see what that was all about.

“ Hey you ! ” The child shouts, running- er, swimming- over to the other. “ I can’t believe this ! It’s all real ! Can you… can you talk ? ” That was one of the things that was claimed on the tape. Was it true ?

$ Unfortunately the crustacean’s car was in the shop, thanks to a no-good sponge who wrecked it a million times during driving practice. There’s a reason he hired a frycook to make the patties instead of himself these days: that back of his is crumbling and age is the malicious, devious culprit. There was going to be a long bath after this walk home, and definitely a few hours alone with a good six grand of cash. Those stubby legs were already aching and he hadn’t even made it one block from his prized restaurant. There was a mumbling and a grumbling from the depths of the crab’s throat. Focused on trying to make it home, he didn’t notice the kid swimming his way until that erupting voice rattled in his ears.

$ Eyes popped wide from the volume such a little kid could make. Claws smack against either side of his face, trying to keep such a blasting and booming voice to a minimum. Eyes squint as a headache ensues -- Sweet Neptune! Does anyone care for the middle-aged these days?! Once the pain hit its peak, both arms were thrown down at either side. Fists clench in fury! Body shakes as he overlooks the young man. It’s taking every crusty fiber in this crustacean’s being to not kick the boy right back where he came from.
