Building Your Own Past

Watching him, Masaru felt himself relax a bit as well. Someone in a similar spot. What are the chances? Probably decent, but you never know until it happens what might occur. Running into a nice enough guy who doesn’t mind a little idle chatter while traveling might be a bit more rare. Either way, this wasn’t his norm so he wouldn’t know the best ways to do such a task. But it was the journey he choose.
“Kumamura..” Testing the name on his lips to see if it sounded familiar, he ended up having a small laugh. “Think I went far enough I don’t think I’ve even said the name of the place before. I really have gotten away.”
It was almost like a joke to be able to say after years of sleep he was fully gone from the local he used to know into brand new winds, new people, and new territory. An amazing feeling, but one with some fear starting to creep in. Fear of not knowing what to do, where to go, and how to build himself. He knew what he wanted, but not how to get it. But that was his own story, his problem. Not this nice stranger.
“I wouldn’t mind a cup,” his words kinda went short. Warm up? Right. The cold. It was cold. He didn’t even notice, nor did he think about it the way. It wasn’t necessary for him, so why would he notice? “Oh, yeah. It is chilly riding around.” That sounded so forced no one would probably believe it.
Taking in a sharp breath he looked a little side to side. “I’ll go inside and order a cup, just a sec’-”
A good cover to quickly inch himself away from an awkward moment. But would going inside and getting a cup give him enough time to think of a good response? Masaru wasn’t sure but he sure was going to try.
Keisuke chuckled at the small joke and took a drink of his coffee. It was good to see good spirits on this stop on his journey. “Well, it is a smaller town,” he mentioned. “If you’re from the city like me, you probably wouldn’t have.”
The seaborg did notice the slight pause in words after mentioning wanting coffee. The trail of the voice as Keisuke’s words settled more into the other’s mind. He had a suspicion growing in his mind, but he didn’t have much evidence to support it. He smiled a little wider and nodded, trying to pretend he didn’t notice. But, of course, he could feel his body be too stiff, his expression a little too false.
He really needed to get better at acting. “Of course, take your time,” he said, watching the other man enter the café.
He, too, stood up from his seat and headed to his bike. Opening one of the bags, he dug through a few layers of clothes before pulling out a jacket. He carried a spare in the event something happened to his current one. Keisuke could always pick up another and give this one to the stranger. He folded it over his arm and returned to his seat.
Regardless of whether or not his suspicion was correct, the man would need a jacket.
