@fishinspecteur
Bonjour.
Inspecteur Moreau, at your service. Should you have a crime or suspicious activity to report, you may contact me.
Morning, inspector. I hope Pontmercy didnāt give you too much trouble.
@javert-de-letoiles
Good morning.
Not at all. He hardly spoke a word. The most he did was pout at the wall.
I donāt suppose I should have been wary of that boy?
No. Heās quite possibly the least threatening man Iāve ever met. He and his entourage are quite the squawkers, though.
Ah. I suppose that explains why he reminded me of a doe.
His entourage? What, exactly, does that entail?
Some band of revolutionaries. Anti-monarchists, anarchists, you name it. They want to bloody upend the whole of France for their silly ideals.
Oh, yes. I recall you mentioning this group in the past. I take it theyāre still a thorn in your side.
How did you manage rounding up this one?
He simply walked into the station. Heās not a very good liar.
..I see. Unfortunate for him, then. But I suppose it makes our lives easier.
Should we be expecting more of them to show up, then? I need to know which days I should plan on taking off.
Moreau joked dryly.
Iāve gotten a. Few names. Enjolras, Feuilly, Combeferre, and Courfeyrac and Marius of course. But I believe there are more of them than that.
Moreauās posture stiffened. Each name listed was a name he recognized as friends of his nephewās. But most importantly, the name of his nephew himself. Combeferre. Oh god.
..Mm.
He nodded slightly, indifferent once more.
Well, that is certainly useful information.
Certainly, but no first names is irritating. I deceived their leader, though. They think me one of them.
He either doesnāt notice Moreauās discomfort or ignores it.
You always must go above and beyond, hm? Iām quite surprised you managed a stunt like that.
Moreau adjusted his glasses and glanced around.
I suppose it pays off.
I rather think that itās a fine example to follow, Moreau. Justice cares little for slackers.
I didnāt say that it wasnāt. Iāve just noticed that you, in particular, tend to do more than necessary. Itās as admirable as it is amusing. Perhaps I should strive to outdo you.
Morning, inspector. I hope Pontmercy didnāt give you too much trouble.

Monsieur.. Do you know if the Inspector delivered my letter? :(
Inspector Javert, you mean? Yes, I believe he just left with one.
Might I ask your name?
Marius smiled softly, glad to know his letter would be received.
Marius, Marius Pontmercy. Iād be inclined to say itās nice to meet you, but being in a cell is.. quite embarrassing for me.
His eyes stayed fixed to the ground.
Pontmercy. The name sounded familiar, for some strange reason. Outside of the case file, he could have sworn he had heard it before..
Ah. Yes, I recall now. Javert hauled you in a bit ago.
Moreau studied the young man in the cell for a brief moment. He didnāt seem particularly dangerous, though most young criminals often looked that way.
Inspector Moreau. Pleased to make your acquaintance. I reckon Iāll be seeing more of you in the coming days.
I- uh- Iām pleased too, Inspector Moreau.
Marius smiles weakly, pleasantries quite hard in a situation like this.
Hopefully Iām not here long.. unless Javert finds a reason to arrest Courf and the others as well.. Oh god..
He walks away from the bars, taking a seat on the bed. He buries his head in his hands, worried for his roommate and possibly friends.
Moreau paused. Pontmercy had mentioned a āCourfā. He was familiar with that name: a close friend of his nephewās. Could he be referring to the same person? He was incredibly tempted to ask. Courfeyrac had been arrested in the past. It wasnāt unlikely they were thinking of the same man.
Instead, Moreau decided it was best not to pry. If Courfeyrac turned up at the station one day, he would have his confirmation. The inspector stood outside for a moment longer, then decided to leave the young man to his thoughts in silence.
