Arms are still sore from slingin' this rat around. What an awesome bait with a really cool tight slithering/wobbling action. It's only a matter of time before someone explodes on it. Evergreen Combat Rat.

The other part of fishing. Catching is fun, sometimes you have to just stop and appreciate the views.

What a time of year. Sprayed a bunch of "perch" colored square bills the other day. I'm down 2 of the 6. This river, it eats lures. Thankfully both caught a couple fish before being lost.

Got a new swimjig mold. Poured some. Paired it with a Rapala Crush City Mayor Swimbait in Fire Flame. Caught a smallmouth. Thought I was getting bumped and missing, so I cut down the weed guard. Not sure, but it might have made the difference.

East Meyer Lake - Ransomville, NY 4/17/26

Went hunting for a big bite. Didn't happen.

First outing in the Pelican Catch Classic 100. Few quick thoughts. Kayak fishing is hard, having all the right gadgets and accessories probably makes it easier, but at that point you could be in a small boat. This is a kayak only spot so I get the appeal. It was much better than the last kayak I tried. Paddling and tracking were as too be expected with an entry level kayak. All in all it was a great day on the water.

Finally. Been chasing these browns for a few years now. Last year I started throwing a glide at them and struck out. Couple weeks back I ran into a couple. If you like swimbait fishing for bass, this is just as exhilarating. The one in the photo chased that bait right to the shoreline. I made a quick 1/4 turn on the reel and he smoked it.
