Important Message About Native American Women

These are most likely lower than they should be because these cases ARE NOT LIKELY TO BE REPORTED.

1) 85% of Native American women experience VIOLENCE in their lives.

2) Over 50% of Native American women have experienced DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

3) 56% Native Women experience RAPE or SEXUAL HARASSMENT.

4) Native Women are murdered 10 TIMES the NATIONAL AVERAGE. That’s more than ANY minority group in the entire USA.

5) 38% of Native Women and 17% of Native Men have been UNABLE to receive SERVICES or AID from their TRIBAL GOVERNMENTS in cases of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

6) Native CHILDREN suffer from PTSD at the SAME RATE as ARMY SOLDIERS.

7) Native Women are 4x MORE LIKELY to be sexually assaulted than the NATIONAL AVERAGE, and Alaska Natives are at a higher 12 TIMES THE US AVERAGE.

27 known murders and missing cases of Native Women have occured in my tribe’s reservation community alone.

Natives and non-natives alike need to spread the message. We can stop this cycle by sharing this, by voting, standing up for ourselves, and for getting ourselves known.

We as a people need to get help and stand together. This is an issue that has continued for a long long time, and needs to stop. Thank you for reading my post, and please take the time to reblog if you can.
