Not sure if you’re still around, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate ur fics even to this day. I read Watercast while you were posting it back in the day, and I recently reread it and it’s still one of the best fics I’ve ever read. Hope ur doing well!

Ack I didn’t realise I posted this publicly but I was also gonna share my new fandom / fic account (I’ve only recently returned)….. but uh. Tumblrs spam bot shadowbnd me this morning and as of 15 minutes ago terminated that account with no warning. So that’s. Scary. I’ve got years on this fishie account and I don’t know what I’d do if it just got deleted ;—;

Do any of you have experience w this stuff? Reddit threads suggest it’s been an issue for years and you can lodge a support ticket and never hear back

i’m still here, not sure how I have not turned to chalk from the pressure, but here I am. I hope you guys are okay. I think of our little corner of fandom sometimes, even though I know it’s been quiet. I have so much I can’t share here. hearts on sleeves, books around our necks.

Hi! i just finished reading your marvellous Fortunate Unkidness, and l really, really liked it! Ahh anon you are too sweet to be reading my old fics! I'm currently working on an original novel that's coming out next year so at the moment (and for a while there) i've been very quiet on the fandom front TT ^ TT (I am also actually searching for a new job rn so things are....very bad, hashtag lockdown...). Sorry for hte lack of content, I am the worst TT ^ TT I miss writing daemon fic so much....

a small quiet fish coming out of the mud to blurp. XD god. after dealing with hostile neighbours for over a year in lock down when the llandlord refused to do anyting cus those neigbours were relatives of his (before that an entire glass window / wall exploded and I had to move to a different unit in the building)...now they want to raise rent because covid is “over” and the agent (also family member of the landlord and so took the neighbours side) pretty much said if i can’t do it they they’ll issue a notice to vacate.

meanwhile....toxic boss at work ...trying to figure out next steps one thing at a time but i feels like it’s been a lot of shitty stuff non stop for years. i know ltos of ppl have it worse than me so i feel bad for feeling bad u know? :C

I've long since fallen out of vld but I still periodically check up on watercast because the world you created and how the characters interact within it is just so interesting? And now that I realized you're doing original work I'm super excited to see what shit you pull this time.

Anyway good luck on everything, looking forward to whatever you decide to do!

hi! I've been here since watercast and i only rarely see you on my dash, and when i do, i feel a little sad. you're a wonderful person. i haven't actually talked to you but you seem very sweet and kind. right now you're under so much pressure and stress and general rl bs, but you're still trying your best not to disappoint anyone. actually, i quit the vld fandom a long time ago. it just wasn't fun anymore, didn't help me de-stress from rl, so i let it go. (1/3?) .

(if you feel comfortable). thank you so much for this x__x Yeah i feel like i’ve let everyone down by not being able to finish watercast in a timely manner... it’s been a very long wait now so I know everyone who is seeing this probably don’t really mind but I just. Like I don’t even feel like I can get ppl to read my current original work because I’ve let them down with watercast.  I think all the RL badluck items have not helped for sure (though I know lots of people have it much worse). I’m. I try not post too much RL stuff here as it’s not being balanced out with fic and content for you lovely lovely people x__x <3

I know you must be sick of me saying this but im also sorry that watercast / fandom has been on hiatus for so long (and very grateful there’s still a few of you sticking around or willing to give my original work a go)

I just. there’s no time in RL and i’m so. I feel like i’m constantly suffocating. Working on EF has helped keep me focused and leaving my job for med research / healthcare sector was -- like we didn’t know covid was gonna happen haha..... I just really feel like i’ve been a terrible person today.  I hope you are doing okay and keeping safe.

Commenting fanfiction is the easiest thing in the world once you start doing it.

I leave a comment on every single fic I read. Sometimes when I read published books I go and leave a comment somewhere the author can find it. Granted, I literally majored in ‘leaving comments on fics’ (English Education), but once you start doing it it just becomes second nature. Now you’re gonna go to the Ozymandias school of leaving comments: 

Problem: I can’t leave kudos again.

Beginner: This is a second/third/fourth Kudos

Advanced: This is my second/third/fortieth time reading this, I still love it so much. Here are a few new things I noticed. I like the way you personally do x, y, z compared to other authors I’ve read (in this ship/genre/fandom).

Problem: I don’t know what to say :(

Beginner: Just list what you did to read this fic. “I stayed up late reading this”, “I read this on a crowded train”, “this kept me company while sick”. 

Advanced: X,Y,Z parts made me get butterflies, and I had a physical reaction to this part of the story, I squealed outloud when characters did x,y,z. I blushed at this part. I laughed out loud here. Whatever. 

Problem: I’m embarrassed to leave a comment (what if I annoy the author?)

Beginner: Short answer: you won’t EVER annoy the author (unless you’re needlessly mean) But to start, be generic, you don’t have to spill your soul in the comments section. “I liked this” “I enjoyed reading this” “nice fic”.

Advanced: This really meant a lot to me that you wrote this. This is something I feel like I’ve always wanted to read. This fic hit me in all the right places. Etc. 

Problem: I don’t know how to express myself/my experience 

Beginner: My beginners go to is to highlight a line, put that in your comment and say “i liked this” or to identify basic emotions you had while reading and comment those “this made me happy” “this part made me sad” “i almost cried” “you made me laugh”  Advanced: “Highlighted line” This line made me smile because it has to do with character development/it’s really romantic/it’s so unique/it’s moving. Sometimes I don’t highlight a line at all, I just talk about the stuff I’ve noticed were unique to the fic. “I love the way you did this particular thing with this character”.
