“Oh…’ Lukas deflated, the enthusiasm leaving him and his pretend scenario. Well, scratch that, he supposed. Common sense told him that it was a good thing she wasn’t actually injured, but what about his princely rescue? Okay, he was a little disappointed he couldn’t play hero. Still, that vivid smile made him feel a little better.

“Well, silly is perfectly fine as long as I happen to be enjoying myself.” Lukas stepped closer, a tiny bit distracted by her… unique clothing, but choosing to focus instead on her smile. The people in Sharance were all so happy, but this girl seemed to top them all in that respect. She seemed like she didn’t have a care in the world. “Accompany a beautiful woman will a gorgeous smile? It must be my lucky day.”

“You tend to the inn, correct? I’ve spoken with the innkeeper a few times…” Lukas would cut that story short, considering each time he had seen the innkeeper, it was because he was being too loud or causing too much of a stir. She was quite a scary woman when she wanted to be. “… but I don’t know that I’ve ever had the pleasure of introducing myself. I am Lukas, an (self-proclaimed) expert poet and renowned performer.”

The fellow sat down in the sand, immediately realizing it was rather uncomfortable. He would have to find a blanket or something if he wanted to come back here. Still, the pink haired bombshell didn’t seem the least bit worried about it, so it would look pretty uncool to complain about it.

“Mhm, I clean the baths and create a new census each week!”

It was all she was allowed to do in the bathhouse due to what Shino listed as health concerns, knowing very well what would happen if visitors found out the truth. If anyone were to ask Pia, she was the best unofficial adoptive mother anyone could have asked for. Understanding, kind, polite, and lots of fun to be around. Not to mention that she doesn’t let anyone push her family around and Pia admired that. She didn’t know her own parents very well and loved getting to know this one as her own while she stayed here.

“Luka is a super pretty name~ I’m Pia, an expert swimmer and singer!”

She wasn’t sure why they had to list things about themselves, but if he did it that meant she had to as well, right? It was odd, but the humans did it a lot. She was told it was polite to respond the same way.

Felicity had been walking along the roads, humming a little tune to herself as she came back from a visit to the local restaurant. Both the service and food there had been positively delightful, and the entire experience left the waitress in very high spirits.

But when she hears a commotion nearby, turning to see a rather cute girl yelling at the vendor, she can’t help but act on her concern and go to check it out.

“Ah, excusez-moi, what seems to be the problem here? Is everything alright?” She looks between the girl and vendor, a concerned frown on her face.

Pia was in the middle of explaining why fish should not be sticks when a tall blonde approached them and questioned the situation. She asked if everything was alright and it took the mermaid aback. Did everything look alright? This guy was a fish killer! And fish were her friends, some her best friends. It was unacceptable! Unbelievable! Horrible!

“No!”

She stated sternly, turning to face her with a frown.

“This person turned fish into sticks! Can you believe that?”

Needed Décor|| Rebecca & Pia

Rebecca was busy in her shop making the basics for building materials. Wood wasn’t always ready to go with a magical swing of the Axe, no matter what videos games taught kids. She sighed remembering when Toni called to say he got a new game called Stories of the Harvest Moon, and began asking it if was true that just cutting down trees would make perfect lumber. She promised to show him how to do it properly when he came back home. After all, he may be interested in it when he grew up.

She finished fashioning the lumber and hear the bell above her door ring. A young woman walked in with a cheery attitude and nice smile.

“Hey there. Well you came to the right place. Have any idea what you’re looking for?” Rebecca asked.

Pia nodded.

“A giant fish couch.”

She smiled, but she was completely serious. There was no place for her to put it which would cause a problem in itself, but all she really wanted to know was if she could make it. The details could be ironed out later if she decided that she wanted it. It shouldn’t be too hard to launch a couch into the water, right? She has witnessed people littering a lot worse in her waters, so the least they could do was help her move a couple of items.

“I’m thinking pink. Lots of pink and lots of glitter!”

Passing the Time || Open

What did this mean? 

Pia had recently bought a new book in hopes of learning more about human, but unfortunately for her, she didn’t understand anything. It wasn’t that she couldn’t read, it was that she couldn’t understand the translation of words. Everything would make sense at first, then as she kept reading, the phrases were gibberish.

Sitting under the shade of a tree, she looked at the pages like they were blank. With the little she was understanding, they might have well been.

Water Those? || Open

“Sticks of fish?”

The pinkette tilted her head to one side as she listened to the traveling vendor describe the items for sale this week. The wares sounded as normal as they could to her until they listed a food called fish sticks. Of course, Pia didn’t know it was a food at first, her face lighting up at the mere mention of it. But then the explanation came and it didn’t make sense. They weren’t sticks in the shape of fish. No, they were sticks made of fish.

The horror!

“That is unacceptable! What did they ever do to you? They don’t put you in stick form!”

Through passing conversation on different lands, Pia had learned of a woman who could make requested furniture. She wasn’t really in the market for new home furniture as she had no way to get it back home, but she wanted to see if this woman could help her. Possibly in decorating a future land purchase. Nothing was set in stone, but the idea was tempting and lessened the chances of someone finding out.

“Hi-ho~♪”

She walked into the shop with a friendly wave and approached the front counter.

“I need furniture help, pretty please!”

Okay Lukas, this was your chance. Just play it cool– damsel in distress saved by onlooker. It was a great concept, especially when Lukas was well aware the girl worked at the inn. Maybe he could get some kind of discount… or even better, maybe she would swoon. All good things. As far as he could tell, this was an obvious victory for the poet.

“My dearest water lily! Allow me to assist, for I could never leave anyone so helpless and frail to their own demise.” Lukas entered the scene, extending her arms in a dramatic, swooping gesture of importance. He wasn’t important, but that didn’t stop him. What did make him pause for a beat was the fins that she may have called ears. He had seen her from a distance and assumed they were some kind of weird accessory, but up close it was very obvious that was not the case. Intriguing! Lukas could smell a good tale to tell. It was in this moment that Lukas realized what he had just said moments ago. Well, maybe the girl wouldn’t notice that he implied she would die if she were left here alone. She looked a little airheaded, after all.

This was new. Pia was enjoying her own thoughts on the shoreline until some stranger waltzed over to her offering their help in weird words. Or it sounded like he was offering help. He had called her ‘helpless’ which she knew wasn’t the case for herself, but she giggled either way. The way he said it was funny. His dramatic motions were even funnier.

“You’re very silly!”

“I don’t need help, mister. I’m enjoying the clear skies and hot, hot sand!”

She reached her hands back to prop herself up, her fingers digging to the sand under them. The small shells scratched at her skin, but it didn’t hurt. Not as much as the larger, broken shells at least.

“Would you like to join me~?”

Open

It had been some time since Pia had stepped foot on land and it showed. Much like a newborn fawn, her legs were shaky as she tried to gain her composure and stand upright. Just when she thought she had the motions, she’d plop back down into the sand butt first. It wasn’t usually this hard on her, but moments ago she had hit her tail against a large sunken object, which of course hurt and immediately made her sore. The pain carried over to her legs.

While she waited for the unpleasant feeling to subside, she rested on the sand just out of reach of the tide. There wasn’t anything a clear, sunny sky couldn’t fix for her.

Right now? He figured they would meet after school, but he glanced at the clock. There was probably enough time. He nodded.

“Yeah, I can go ahead and get changed,” he said and with that, he was gone. 

Raeger had changed into his swim trunks but kept his shirt on. No, it wasn’t so he could take it off in front of Ms. Arabella. Or was it? Although he wasn’t self-conscious about his body, walking around without a shirt just seemed a bit.. weird. 

Once he returned to the pool, he could take off his shirt. He was wearing a button up shirt so it’s not like he could just pull it over his head. Instead, he removed it. Button. By. Button. 

“Okay, I’m ready!” he confirmed. 

Pia waited patiently as the student went to go change and greeted him with a smile once he returned.

“Raeger, you’re so silly! It shouldn’t take you that long to remove a shirt. You’re wasting time!”

Whether he meant something by it or not, it didn’t matter. Pia was too naive and dense to make anything of it and even if she did know, there’s only one fish in the ocean that mattered to her. Not to mention that this kid was a student of hers and that completely threw any interest out of the window for her.

“Awesomesauce~ Let’s start with a single lap to get a good estimate of your lap time, then you’ll do three more and we’ll average those times.”

Blub blub! - [Ivan & Pia] - [Flower Festival]

“We’re certainly trying our best!” Ivan laughed softly, taking time to soothe his baby daughter before continuing with his thoughts.

“So, Miss Arabella, I hope I am not intrusive in asking this, but, well…” Ivan scratched the back of his head. “Have you been receiving many flowers today? Particularly, ah, ones with deep meanings?” Ivan had seen many friendship-based flowers around the school, which were lovely, but he did want to see more variety, to tell the truth. He hoped Pia did not find it odd, but he had assumed Pia was very popular among gentleman, so she seemed about right to ask.

Pia was about to compliment his efforts of trying his best when his next words brought her to a complete stop. Flowers with a deep meaning? Her cheeks immediately flushed and she felt her whole face get hot. Why this question?

“I- uh.. Well...”

She stumbled over her words, her thoughts now occupied by a certain Oceanography teacher. One who surprised her with a lavender rose and a tulip among the prettiest arrangement of flowers in a neatly ribbon-tied bouquet. They hadn’t known each other for long, but to already convey these feelings... It left her speechless. And extremely happy.

“I did~”

Finally, she was able to speak normal sentences again. The sudden confession of sorts might have made some things awkward between the two aquatic loving teachers, but she didn’t want that to follow into other conversations when they asked. She needed to play cool. Calm. Collected. Not Pia-like at all.

The school day had passed quicker than he thought it would and, despite it moving so quickly, he still felt as though it had sucked the energy from him. Perhaps it was because he did a lot of walking around the classroom that day. There was a lot of papers to be passed back and worksheets to pass out. At least it wasn’t too much work. 

He was on the other side of the room collecting the finished worksheets from the wire baskets on the counter, each one with a sign for each period of the day. He turned when he heard Pia’s greeting and smiled. They had seen a lot of one another since he’d first arrived at the school. He wasn’t complaining one bit, though. 

“Good afternoon, Pia.” He carried the papers over to his desk where she sat. “I was just collecting some worksheets from today. How was your school day?”

“It was the same old~”

But better now. Pia was a dense woman, there was no doubting that, but she knew very well when she liked someone. If they liked her back, well... That’s why she was so dense. She had a hard time picking up on subtle notions, especially since she was extremely friendly herself. She didn’t take many things too personal thinking that they could simply be as friendly as her. Complimenting her outfit and eyes? She saw it as they truly liked them and weren’t trying to advance anywhere - even if they were. Again, dense.

She leaned back in his chair and her smile grew the closer he was. Hopefully he didn’t think he was getting this spot back because he wasn’t. Not unless she had somewhere to go, though she wouldn’t really feel like going anywhere alone. It’s no fun that way.

“Got any plans after this?”

She paused.

“N-not that I’m trying to invite myself along! I’m only asking!”

“Sounds like a plan, coach! If it’s alright can I get help with getting timed? I gotta make sure I don’t slow down even more, he he.” Swim cap on, Frey pumped herself up to start a lap. She position herself near the edge of the water, about to dive in but pausing at the last thing Pia said.

“E-eh? Don’t tease me like that, coach…” I’m fragile. With both Aden and coach Pia encouraging her, it’s just so hard to say no.

“You can count on me~”

Pia nodded and took the stopwatch that hung from her neck in hand. It was important as a coach to make sure that this one item was always close by. She had to make sure that no one was slacking, especially with a couple of competitions coming up. She was not about to settle for more losses from anyone.

“Tease you? But I really do miss having you on the team!”

Truth be told, Pia was looking for more additions to the team. Although they trained hard, she knew it was important for them to get breaks and rest, but in order for that to happen, she needed more members first. There can’t be a break for a certain styled swimmer during a competition if they’re the only one in that category.

“Let’s focus on this first! I’m expecting good things!”

I need an adult! || Pia and Pierre

@fishysecret Due to his short stature, people often made the mistake of thinking Pierre was one of the new students. He was a full grown adult and he will defend this until he has one foot in the grave. Even though he was a capable and responsible adult, he sometimes made mistakes. Everyone does, right? 

He was just trying to make copies of an assignment for his French class, but fate had a different idea for him today.

Pierre entered the copy room and brought his laptop with him. The document was already pulled up and ready to go! All he had to do was press print! He had decided on a number of copies he wanted to make and pressed the button. He twiddled his thumbs and wasn't really paying attention having faith in the printer. 

It made the familiar humming noise and started spewing the copies. All of a sudden, Pierre smelled… Smoke? He looked up to see tendrils of smoke leaking out from the cracks and crevices of the printer. Oh no. He looked around frantically for something, anything! If this were in the kitchen, he would just put it out with an extinguisher but.. would that be okay with a printer? 

Thankfully someone came in at just the right time! “Ah! Perfect timing! Help!” he waved his arms around and pointed to the printer.

What did I have to do again?

Pia sat at her desk, twirling a pen between her fingers as she tried to remember what her plans were. She felt that there was something important she needed to do and it was at the tip of her tongue, but... Nothing. As fast as she thought of it, she forgot it.

It wasn’t until the last student of the period left and commented on their upcoming assignment that she remembered-

Ohhh, it was the grading rubric I needed to print.

She stayed seated for only a moment longer before deciding that she should go get it done. She didn’t want to risk something else distracting her from the task that had finally come back to memory.

As soon as she reached the printer room, a small blond called out to her, asking for help. Pia looked around him, which wasn’t very hard at all, to see smoke coming from the printer. The printer that she also had to use!

“Oh no! What happened?!”

Frantically, she scanned the area for a fire extinguisher and as soon as she found it, she tossed it to the blond with a “hey, catch”.

“Hurry! Put it oooout!”

Pia stood to the corner of the room, not wanting to get caught in a potential wild, printer fire. It wasn’t like she was the one to start it.

⌜ .｡₀:*ﾟ✲ﾟ*  – No one ever believes him when he bothers to tell, but the swimming club had a secret scare factor that frightened even Aden. If terror has a face, it’d have long bubblegum pink hair and even brighter pink for eyes. You’d think donning such sweet colors would equate to a sweet disposition, but Aden knows that’s not the case. He lives it. And so as he finishes a lap during practice and realizes he’s a 2 seconds off his usual record, he fears for his life, fears looking up to face his coach. But he has to. So he does. ⌟

⌜ .｡₀:*ﾟ✲ﾟ*  – “ That was just warm-up. ” He tries to show confidence as he looks up from the waters to face his coach but after losing the relay last swim meet, he knows he has to at least step up his game some more. Get a better record and set an example. “ I lost momentum midway– but i’ll be faster next lap. ” ⌟

The swim team had been doing alright this season. Not too bad and not too good, which didn’t please their coach at all. She had been rather lenient with the practices thinking that it might be better for the team to have a small bit of down time, but they proved her wrong. They needed constant practice to stay in tip-top shape. A shame for them, really.

“Only two seconds?”

Her facial expression and tone of voice were complete opposites. She was smiling, but a person could easily sense her irritation. She looked down at the stopwatch in her hand, then back to Aden.

“I believe this says you were two seconds and thirty-four milliseconds slower. Next time stay focused or the only thing you’ll be warming up is the bench.”
