went on a little bike ride yesterday and picked up a beautiful roe buck. summer is coming up fast so this guy will be ready in no time! super excited, it will be my first roe buck cleaned by me! and the skull is intact which is a miracle. i have some goats and sheeps finishing up in the buckets as well and I'll be trying to bark tan some hides soon :)

Coyotes are finished!

Young(?) female. Assuming young as M3 hasn’t erupted yet, but she’s got worn wonky incisors that could indicate older age, but then it just could be environmental factors playing in. Very brittle bone due to weathering. Lost some of the green patina that I found her with in processing, but still turned out with very nice colors.

Adult male. Above average size I would say. Now my most complete coyote skull in my collection. His gorgeous patina stayed put through processing, very glad for that. Also has some incisor wear, these two came from the same hunter dump so this trait very well could be a product of the environment.

A teethy Mustelid post today.

Unfortunately we own neither of these as they were both passed on to other people but the teeth were too interesting to ignore.

First up we have a Badger, this guy has Vestigial Premolars, whilst this isnt totally uncommon with Badgers its the first ones we've seen. So this fantastic chappy has little additional teeth behind the canines

Then a Stoat, who appears to have adult teeth growing in in multiple places but the canines are fantastic. Which is why we figured it'd make the perfect gift.

Wolf skull age progression. ~2 months, ~4, months, and old. The two babies both have all deciduous teeth, except a couple of the teenager's incisors. What a difference 2 months can make!

comparison between a hydrocephalic Nyctereutes procyonoides and a healthy individual. first one was not cleaned by me hence the lack of turbinates and overall worse quality. i degreased the skull and it finally looks presentable :) both were locally sourced. side view in a separate post.

going on a little trip to the seaside this friday and honestly id be surprised if i come back empty handed. i always bring a cormorant or two :) but i'm hoping to find something new. also i'm slowly warming up to the upcoming antler shed season, i'm so excited!!

wow, I jinxed it!!! no dead finds this time, they permanently closed my favorite spot on the beach. but hey, i found some old bones and a handful of amber.
