I have a confession to make. Don't be shocked. I am a professional procrastinator. I have been putting off so many things lately and when I look at what I'm avoiding it all makes sense.

Nobody likes discomfort. And everything I put off doing is something I perceive will be uncomfortable or painful.

I'm pretty sure you can relate, no?

So I'm going to cross something off my list right now...

BOSU facts you might not know... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. BOSU is an acronym for Both Sides Utilized. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Using the BOSU will not help with your strength. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Doing sit ups on a BOSU is only slightly more effective than doing them on the floor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. BOSU is great for balance and some rehab, but can actually make weak ankles worse if you don't use with a trained professional. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A little background: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Before 1999, some trainers and therapists would use a full stability ball (Swiss ball, physio ball, etc.) to challenge balance by having clients sit on it, roll around on it, and occasionally stand on it. Some people squatted on it and Darwinism weeded out those that deserved to live and those that deserved a concussion. Few people understand the art of physical competitions. What It takes, the commitment, the dedication, the sacrifice, the tears, and of course the reward at the end, which makes all of it worth it.

Of course few people also know that the trophy is NOT the reward. The real reward is knowing how strong you really are to be able to withstand 16 + weeks of restricted food, sometimes eating six times a day, working out hard for no less than 2 hours a day, and still trying to maintain some semblance of a life.

But what very few people understand is that physique competitions are not unlike any other sport competition. It all comes down to will, inner strength, desire, determination and of course, mindset.

This sport is not about the bikini. It's about the work of art that you can present to judges who are looking for the most comprehensive, symmetrical, balanced, and beautiful physique you can deliver to them. Of course we all know art is subjective. So presentation plays a huge role as well.

Posing. How you present your sculpture is as important as the body of art itself. In fact, as much emphasis goes into the presentation as the creation of your masterpiece!

So much so that my client @jeaninejohansen works on her posing daily and is still humbled by the pain in her back every time she hits this pose.

All competitive athetes have my sincere admiration, but my bikini competitors get so much respect and love. I know what it is to be one and to go through the process. My heart pours into my #isababes and I am honored to be their coach.

Next Saturday Jeanine will be taking the stage for her second competition and I'm quite certain she's going to impress the judges.
