ginger snaps behind the scenes dropped
katharine isabelle as ginger fitzgerald in “ginger snaps” (2000)
DELETED SCENE 10: "Don't Touch My Sister!"
Karen Walton's commentary:
This is one of my very favorite scenes and I am sorry its not in the film. I thought it was important to check in one more time with where Ginger was at when Brigitte wasn't around. And to see how compared to Brigitte ginger is no longer the player she once was. For instance, she can't even believe seriously that anyone would think Brigitte was some kind of threat but then again she hasn't been paying close attention to how different Brigitte's become because of what's going on between them.
And I love the fact that Mr. Wayne has the Fitzgeralds number on a sticky on his wall, ready for anything. Now here's the cops. And I thought too this was an important thing to put in the move. Unfortunately there was no time. The sensation that the world was closing in around them, that the police were looking for who is responsible for Trina. That there couldn't be a lot more screw-ups without somebody getting in trouble.
Alright, and speaking of trouble. This scene is an the movie but in a substantially altered form. Ginger of course immediately realizes she has to justify what she's done. So, she throws the relationship back in Brigitte's face, she says "You blew me off. This guy was gonna nail you, and I saved you. You owe me. Still, always, forever." "How come I smell guy, B?". This one's one of my favorite lines that isn't in the final film. Little things like that contributed to the physical transformation of Ginger, that she might have a heightened sense of smell. And that of course the kind of exception she takes to being excluded to see Sam is... heightened, to say the least.
And this is an interesting moment to omit from the final cut because it's the moment where it's starting to become clear that Ginger does not see a future outside this. Yeah, live to run, to hide, to die anyway. What's the point? This is the beginning of the... the beginning of the end for Ginger.
DELETED SCENE 7: "PMS Is The Least Of Your Problems"
Karen Walton's commentary: Now, this next scene came out is interesting, especially for people who feel that the back half of the film sort of lets down the 'girls stuff' of it. This scene was all about the girls stuff. Time has passed since they made the plan the keep Ginger in the bedroom and out of harm's way. But of course on the calendar she's entered that one full situation, that we all know is PMS. And there's nothing worse than a werewolf with PMS. So in addition to her womanly problems or challenges. I guess that's not the right language, whatever. She's growing new teeth, her body is physically changing. Even above and beyond the usual monthly call of duty. And most importantly, we need to see that Brigitte can't reasonably expect to keep her pinned up here. [Ginger: You suffer from cramps. headaches, violent mood swings, unusual cravings, tearfulness, tender little titties, we recommend you try aerobic activities...] And so Ginger tries to use a description of PMS symptoms to rationalize why she should be let out for a kill. Because the symptoms are the same. *chuckles* Clearly she's not taking the "no" well.
