Though he was without a trace of guilt while conscious, in his unconscious state, while asleep, Killian suffers from unimaginable nightmares, so bad that he steps out of bed and sleepwalks through the house. His father is haunting him, that much he knew. The old man just wouldnât DIE. This is why Killian will never sleep over Isabelleâs house and why she was never allowed to sleep over his. He assumed she thought he was just being a dick, hit and split. But really, he just didnât want her to know the truth. That behind his jazzy, cool exterior was a child who missed his father. Not that he should, his father spent most of Killianâs adolescence kicking his ass. He said he was âmaking a man out of himâ which was just total bullshit â it was just an excuse for him to put his hands around his neck until he passed out. That was Daddy Steele. A total, drug-induced asshole and King of the Reapers. He always told his son that if he did everything he was told heâd one day inherit the money, the mansion, and the entire club. But when he got sick, Killian found out he was going to sign everything over to his newborn niece. In his words, âeven a newborn baby girl is more of a man than you.â It took Killian a few weeks to work up the balls and a handful of drugs and copious amounts of alcohol but then he did it, he killed his father in his sleep and then took it all. The house, the money, and his chairman spot with the Reapers. But killing his father changed him. It unleashed this darkness that had always been there, hiding in the walls. He felt free. Stronger. However as amazing as he felt, he also felt an unshakable loneliness. Enter, Isabelle Samson. She was, for lack of for better words, amazing. Killian wanted to make her his Queen of the Reapers. He even had a throne set next to his for her. Everything seemed to be on the right track for them until the power inflated Killianâs ego far beyond rectifying. He had become a different man. He thought he was a God and expected Isabelle to be a Goddess, though stopped treating her like one.
Stepping down from Isabelleâs bed, Killian turned, facing her completely naked and shining with sweat. âTime for me to go.â He says, glancing at the clock on her nightstand while pulling into a pair of black jeans, Reapers t-shirt, and a hoodie. âWhatâs up with the moving truck thatâs been sitting outside for the past couple of days?â Isabelle may have told him a hundred times about her fatherâs new wife but Killian has yet to let anything sheâs said in the past couple of days soak in. âWhatever â I donât want to hear itâŠJust stop talking. Sometimes a question requires only a minimal response. This isnât a girlsâ bathroom.â Realizing he was being a dick, Killian closes his eyes and takes a calming breath.
âDidnât mean that.â Leaning down over her bed, two of his fingers slip beneath the black choker around her neck, pulling her closer to his mouth. âTomorrow is a big day. We have a meeting with the Serpents, so get your rest. Youâll be dancing for them.â He smirked, not willing to take no for an answer as he silences any retort from her mouth with a kiss.
