In this one I kept Alastors iconic red because I do think it suits him. There's just so much red in hell that characters blend into the scenery so I wanted to try and branch out a bit. Also I gave him a jazz suit and a casual cravat in both because he's spiffy like that. The main thing I wanted to change was to simply lean into his deer characteristics and 1920ify him.

For Vox I was just having fun and wanted to make him a shark. What can I say? I've been obsessed with sharks since I was six years old. If he's a shark demon he should BE a shark demon! This let me make his counter shading look like a rating chart which is a nice bonus.

Also I gave him cathode ray tubes because I think it would really irk him to permanently have the mark of outdated technology. It has the nice perk of looking cool as well.

I'm probably going to play around with their heights when I get to drawing them next so for now we're just going with vibes.

Since finding out The Rerun was written with AI I wanted to chase a gut feeling I had about the prevalence of coffee.

I don’t have an AO3 account so I can’t comment… but what I can do is draw so I did that instead. Prepare for a little bit of a ramble cause I’ve got lots to say.

I’ve been reading this since around chapter three released, and it has become my all time favorite fanfic. The characterization, the world building, the pacing, the conflict, all of it is beyond fantastic.

It is so refreshing to see the way they’ve been written. They feel like real people, like they’re actually immersed in their world instead of characters floating atop it.

Neither of them are perfect, they have flaws AND they have reason behind said flaws AND those flaws cause meaningful conflict which is consequential!!! The emotional beats hit so hard too! The stakes feel so high and I’m very invested into where their paths take them. Everything about it is done so skillfully I could go on about it for days!

I starting my drawing immediately after chapter seven released because of how it good it was. I think it’s been three months? It usually doesn’t take that long but I was super busy and changed the color pallet a billion times. I might go back and work on adding some dynamic lighting but the flat colors have taken long enough and I’m happy with it for now. It’s definitely a sign of relief to finally get this one done.

Also basilheaps, if you’re here (and still here) then thank you for taking the time you need to recharge. It’s important and healthy for any artist and it shows the commitment you have to your work, both of which is awesome 👍

Heres some old art I finally got around to finishing up after six-ish months.

This was my first ever digital drawing after a several year hiatus from traditional art. The need to draw human alastor and vincent dancing was enough to overcome 4 years of art block 👍

Does anyone else keep water fleas (daphnia) as pets? Not as food for fish or anything of the like, but just to have them around.

My lab got a shipment of them probably 8 months ago and I got permission to take some home. Been taking care of them ever since, super low maintenance, and it’s been a blast.
