SOAP IS ALIVE!!

The Modern Warfare 4 trailer that released on May 28th 2026 did not feature Soap or Gaz, nor did it address any possible way Soap might still be alive. What other way to fight back than to override Activision’s reality with our own? 

For this event, we’re forging a space in this fandom with one goal in mind: creating art in which Soap is still alive. You can do this however you’d like: art, writing, animation, video edits – a MW3 canon fix-it, supernatural incidents, Soap simply never having joined the military in the first place… The possibilities are endless!  It doesn’t matter how, as long as Soap is alive in the end.

This is a Soap-centric event. However, we’re Feeling A Way™ about Gaz's absence from the trailer as well, therefore we encourage everyone to include our beloved Sergeant in the spirit of the movement.

FAQ

Is this event 18+?

No, but to join the event Discord you must be 18+, as we will have designated NSFW channels. However, we want to encourage everyone to flood the tag when the day arrives! 

Do I have to join the Discord to participate? 

No, it is not required to participate. Joining the Discord is the only way to guarantee that we’ll be able to add you to the AO3 collection once the posting day arrives. We understand not everyone wants to join a server, and not everyone has a Discord. This shouldn’t stop you from wanting to create and spread the news that Soap is alive! 

Why do I have to submit a writing/art sample in my application?

Our participant application is purely for those who wish to join this event Discord. The process is to ensure that we are creating a SAFE environment in which the people who take the time to join actually want to be here in good faith. You will not be turned away based on writing/art quality. If you don’t have any writing or art samples, tell us some prompt ideas instead! 

Overall, we’re trying to keep our community safe from bad actors and trolls.

How long is the creation period?

We officially start on June 23rd for those who choose to join the Discord server. You have four months (until October 23rd) in which to create your work, which also just happens to be the date MW4 was announced to be released. >:)

When do we post?

On the weekend October 23rd-October 25th. The posting will occur over 3 days, and the way you post is up to you! If you make multiple pieces, you can either post them all at once or spread them out over the weekend.

Where do we post?

Use any social media you like with the Hashtags #SoapIsAlive and #GazisSAFE! The official event pages are only hosted on Tumblr and Bsky, so these are the only two platforms from which we'll reblog fan creations. There will be an AO3 collection that will be available for those who join the Discord, but that shouldn't stop you from writing and posting!

What are the requirements?

There are no minimum word counts or minimum render levels required. You can also post unfinished works. 

The only requirement for your creation (also applies to unfinished work): Soap has to be alive ultimately!!

What kind of creations are allowed?

Anything is allowed. You can create fics, threadfics, artwork, comics, playlists, physical flyers…  Go absolutely nuts to your heart’s content. We love to see anything!

Hello, I have come with angsty ideas for y'alls Eridian!Grace AUs;

- Eridian Grace is fucking TERRIFIED of going to sleep at the start. Reminds him too much of what Stratt did to him. The whole "sleeping with no dreams and no ability to be awoken" just chills the mercury in his bones and sends him into such a panic the other eridians are afraid FOR him. Adrian and Rocky have to soothe him both in and out of sleeps and make it so the sleeping cycle is as comfortable to him as possible. They also fiercely guard him the entire way through.

- Eridian Grace would more than likely have a measure of limb pain and phantom limb pain from when he was human. All of it basically psychological, no less real. They've found that warm baths actually help his joints and limbs ache less, maybe due to the stress relief?

- probably also has audio processing issues? Since he's lived most of his life as a human with a separate sensory way to see his surroundings, his brain might lag when processing information as an eridian, not because of pure processing capacity but because his psyche is just not used to sight and hearing being essentially one sense. So he takes a longer time to process stuff.

- insanely, ABSURDLY clingly and touchy. Will have bouts of uncontrollable shaking and will basically freak out if he cannot hold claws with Adrian or Rocky at LEAST. Was clearly deeply affected by not being able to touch other living beings for so long.

- gets easily overwhelmed sensory wise too, to the point sound kind of hurts his receptors. Adrian and Rocky have established on pain of Adrian chucking mfers into the artificial ocean of the biodome that if Grace has a "quiet day", then EVERYONE must respect Grace's need for a Quiet Day and if it needs to be more than one day then he'll get more than a day! As many days until sound stops hurting him!!

- He misses being able to see.

Just thinking about how Rocky was certainly TRAPPED in Tau Ceti for 46 years. That's not explicitly said in the book, but he was an engineer just there to repair things. He has absolutely none of the training or knowledge required to pilot the Blip-A. Not only that, Eridians have no computers. Piloting the ship must be incredibly manual and meant to be done by specialists, maybe even multiple of them at a time.

Through painstaking trial and error Rocky figured out how to do very small maneuvering within the Tau Ceti system, but there's absolutely no chance he could fly the ship back to Erid. Plotting a course home would require complex knowledge of astrophysics that Rocky absolutely does not have. In fact, in the book Grace is the one who plans the course back to Erid for Rocky when they are parting to go back to their separate planets.

All this to say, Rocky must have felt HORRIBLY trapped and helpless for 46 years. No way to move forward in his mission: the astrophage sampler broke off on the way to Tau Ceti and he can't figure out how to make a new one. But he also has no way to get home to get help. There is NOTHING he can do, but wait. Try to make himself useful taking down observations about the Tau Ceti system, hoping that another ship of Eridians will show up someday who can make use of the data.

Nothing to do but wait. Wait for people who almost certainly aren't coming... It's been 46 years. They probably all think he's dead. And sometimes Rocky wishes that he were...

I have this headcanon that eridians have soulmates that they can recognized by a specific song or melody.

For the eridian culture which sound and songs are so important, they have this idea that if you find all your soulmates (platonic or romantic) you can create an harmony with their songs, an harmony unique for each eridian.

For Rocky is easy to know that Adrian is the one, because their mere presences, the way they move and sing is just right, it is the melody that Rocky had been chasing since he knew about soulmates. After finding his romantic soulmate Rocky - thinking that there was no way that the song that Adrian produced could be better- assumes that he was destinate to only have a romantic soulmate and that his harmony is already complete.

It isn't until he is deep in the space, far away from Adrian and everything he has known, that Rocky discovers that the hearbeat of Grace turns to be another piece of his harmony.

When they get to Erid and Rocky is able to present his platonic soulmate to his romantic one he can finally hear the harmony that he didn't know he was longing for.

When Graces dies, so does the harmony. Rocky can still rememeber his hearbeat, he has perfect memory, he is able to recreated in his mind, but is just not the same.
