Five Companions

Hello there!

This is an ooc post by the mod! I have five prominent characters, all existing as OCs within the Flight SMP universe. This post will often be updated, as it will remain a pinned post.

I am always open (and actively enjoy) asks, roleplay requests, and other sendings. Feel free to whenever. For clarity; four are currently students, one will be soon.

Rules!

Romance is absolutely okay, but don't expect it to be automatically reciprocated. Flirting and such is a-okay, though NSFW is not permitted.

Blood and violence is acceptable at any level.

Obviously, be respectful and do not perpetuate hate.

Different characters have different pronouns. I, mod, use any with a preference for not-she/her.

Characters and Notes

Celina: A friendly, but pragmatic and sensible person with weather magic. She uses she/they pronouns.

Jupiter: A sociable, if curious figure who keeps his cards close to his chest. They have vampire magic and use they/he pronouns.

Hum: A bright and blunt birdfolk who has, fittingly, bird magic. She uses she/any and is getting accustomed to the ways of humanlike living.

Parav: A quiet and somewhat irritable person with significant anxiety, exacerbated by overstimulating sense magic. He uses he/him pronouns.

Palesor: A doppleganger who quickly connects to a dragon and is discovered to have the magic of double. They use any pronouns, most often mimicking those of whoever is before them.

Note: I have their magic types, but don't have firm spells. I figure it is acceptable that way, as I can add more spells down the line if needed. Some characters have passive magic.

Additionally: do not be surprised if I add a sixth character down the line, though I'll only do so if it works narratively.

It's worth noting, I will have some NPCs. Think of them similar to characters MrMadSpy plays. They will not be colorcoded, but can be visited, so feel free to stop by. I'll add them to tags when they are first introduced.

Hum skipped through the halls again, the dragon in her arms wriggling as the dragon in her backpack stayed fast asleep. She hummed under her breath, pausing as she saw a person. Her eyes immediately brightened at the stranger.

"Hello!"

cassidy’s eyes widen and she covers her mouth to quickly finish the mouthful of apple she had just bitten into. ‘sorry- hullo! you’re new! to me, at least. why do you have two dragons?’

“I’m dragon sitting!”

Hum beamed.

“You’re new to me too. Is there eatable-apples here?”

‘dragon sitting…? whose dragon is it?’ she tilts her head. ‘i get the apples from the other world. the, er, resource world, i think it’s called? d’you want one?’

"Celina's dragon, this is Rayes!"

She lifted her arms, motioning to the wriggling dragon. It had taken to eating part of the fabric on her shirt, potentially out of spite.

"Seeder is on my back. I do want an apple!"

‘celina..? i haven’t met them. rayes seems… boisterous.’

she slips her backpack off one shoulder and rummages inside to find an apple. ‘here! i have a lot.’

"Boisterous?"

Hum tilted their head at the new word, before taking the apple and biting it. With a full mouth, she continued.

"Celina's awesome! She's got a super shiny sword!"

‘boisterous means, like, energetic and rowdy,’ she takes a bite of her own apple. ‘that’s cool! i’d like to meet her. you guys must’ve awakened your magic by now, right?’

"Boisterous.... mhm!"

Hum nodded emphatically, her head bobbing up and down at Cassidy's last question.

"Mine's just me! What's your magic?"

’just you..? what does that entail?’ she tilts her head.

‘oh, i have illusion magic! i only awakened a couple days ago, though, so i’m not too good at it.’

"I've got bird magic! Have you tried to do magician tricks with your magic?"

‘well- hm. no, i haven’t, actually. i did magician tricks before i had my magic, though, with lamps and mirrors and a kaleidoscope!’

"So your magic is you too!"

Hum grinned.

"I like that!"

’hm,’ she smiles a little. ‘yeah, i suppose so. i like that too.’

Hum nodded again, their head bobbing before he abruptly changed topics.

"Mhm! Can you teach me magic tricks? Then we can have a duel-magicianing!"

cassidy laughs and grins at hum. ‘yeah, sure! d’you wanna learn some card tricks?’

Hum leaned from foot to foot as she nodded emphatically.

“Yes!”

Celina looked up from her position outside the school, nearby some flowers. She listened for a moment, then seemed to realize.

"The translator works for students too then, that's good to know..."

She murmured to herself before speaking more clearly, making sure to direct her face to the stranger in case lipreading was of importance. She thought for a moment of sign, before realizing that must not be how it worked. What a relief she'd had the translation ritual sorted, at least.

"I'm Celina, it's nice to meet you, Mage Thunder. Is that your magic type as well, if you don't mind me asking?"

<No, Lightning! And call upon a thunderstorm is one of my spells though>

*He smiles. Upon closer look, he has something metal on their right leg*

"Lightning?"

Celina tilted their head. She reached back as she spoke, tying her hair up to it's familiar messy ponytail as she spoke, rather than letting it rest out on her shoulders. Her eyes glanced, subtly, over to the metal, mostly to determine if it was medicinal, prosthetic, or potentially a weapon.

"We have some overlap, I work with weather. I wonder if our magic is compatible then?"

<Maybe, would be fun! Also, I can hear. Talking is dificult for me. The thunderstorm I call upon, makes my magic stronger. Does use alot of mana, that’s how I got this scar!>

*Mage shows their left arm with a Lightning like scar from his palm to just above her elbow*

"No immunity to lightning then?"

Celina's eyebrows raised at the scar, as she stepped forward to examine it.

"I haven't really seen it rain here, minus magically-caused. Can you make thunderstorms with your magic as well?"

<Can't die from it and this was lightning from magic. I can summon a thunderstorm, but nothing more with storms or weather>

"I've summoned lightning in rain once, but I couldn't maintain it. It just fizzled out..."

Celina tilted their head, thinking for a moment.

"Would you be interested in training together sometime? There has to be some sort of overlap with our magics, something useful in that..."

<Intresting! Sure I would love to, I do have to train more with my new leg brace so> *He grins*

"You've trained before then?"

Celina asked.

"I haven't trained my magic as much as I should have. It will be good to start working on that properly."

<Yea, I like sparring. Also that's when I got the scar. I use my cane as weapon and also a bow> *He takes out a cane from her bag*

"Resourceful,"

She untensed slightly. Finally, someone taking this seriously.

"Are you usually long ranged then? I tend to use my sword, but I'm a half-decent shot even in subpar conditions."

<Also quite short ranged> *She extents the cane to about 10ft* <And it depents on how I feel I do bow or cane>

"How quickly can you adjust to changes in range?"

[mage-thunder]

*She takes a couple steps back, starts hitting air and changes the lenght of the cane in less than a second*

Celina nods to herself. Internally, her relief kept growing.

"When are you free to train? I wake up pretty early, but I know a lot of people prefer to sleep in when they can."

*She stops and walks back* <Pretty much everyday, I don't really sleep in or go to bed early>

"Early morning then? We can meet by the training room tomorrow."

[mage-thunder]

*They nod* <Alright> *And smile* <How have you been holding up here?>

"It's been interesting. I got her a bit under a week ago, it's been fine adjusting but there's not enough structure here, I'd say."

Her mind flickered back to the letter.

"It's been tense here though. There's a lot left behind, that part can be harder."

<It is intresting, but also great! I can fully make my own choices now!>

They tilted their head.

"Were you not able to before? Outside of responsibilities and such, I mean."

<Not really, I grew up in isolation because of an incident>

"Geez. It's probably not my place to ask, right? At least you've people around you here. You seem pretty sociable, so you've adapted alright to it I'm guessing."

"Mhm!" <I like talking, no signing to people! And I don't mind questions>

"In that case, can I ask about the incident? It sounds intense."

[mage-thunder]

<Just some a****les trew rocks down the cliff I lived near. Bones in leg shattered, got scar on shoulder and now use a leg brace!>

"That must've been awful. Were they just stupid or was it malicious?"

[mage-thunder]

"Eh" <I don't know, they were never found>

"That's gotta suck. There were a few cases back home of stuff like that, either stupidity or cruelty, that couldn't be caught either. Can't imagine what it's like not knowing."

<Yea, and then I didn't really leave the house for 14 years>

"For mobility reasons or just the event itself?"

Celina continued speaking for a moment.

"Whatever the reason, I'm glad you're here now. It's good to know you're here."

<I think it's both, it became worse after dad got infected. I have reasons to believe I'm immune to corruption. I'm also happy to be here>

"Wh- sorry, immune?"

Celina paused, blinking.

"Talk me through this immunity."

"Mhm" <First, for some reason the corruption is purple for me. Second, I haven't coughed or felt diferent when I'm in it. Third, I grew up in a largely corrupted town>

Celina looked over Mage for a moment, looking for any signs of the corruption.

"Was anyone else in your town immune?"

[mage-thunder]

*There aren't any, her eyes also reflect any and all light* <Don't know, don't think so. I never left the house like I said>

"Right. Maybe it's worth giving your hometown a visit sometime, if you're up for it. If immunity is possible, that's worth having confirmed."

Celina's skepticism was obvious as she spoke, but she didn't seem to think Mage was lying. More likely, there was something more at play. As far as she knew, immunity wasn't a thing. If it was, it was useful in the field, not in an academy.

She'd be more useful in a field too, maybe. But she pushed that thought out of her head - she knew her task.

*Mage looks sad* <The whole tow is corrupted, as long as I heard. No one escaped> *She sighs* <Also it's really far from here, so much that I speak a different language>

"Right. That can be a goal for another time then. I'm sorry that happened, the corruption is a rotten thing."

"I don't know if it helps, but at least you get to avenge them. It can't erase it, but it's something."

Celina glanced back at the flowers before her, pulling one stem loose. She kept it in her hand, bright and red.

“That’s good, really. Hopefully we can meet up for sparring and I can hear more about your people sometime, if you’d be up for sharing.”

*She nods exitedly* <I'd be happy to! Sparring and telling you about my friends!>

“I look forward to it.”

Celina grinned, flower still in hand as she excused herself. Her fingers thumbed against the petal for a moment.

“I’m going to go finish up my walk, don’t want to leave something half done. I’ll see you tomorrow morning in the training room then?”

"The translator works for students too then, that's good to know..."

They were an older group I think they were camping? But on my way to the academy I ran into them, they worry horrified, well that made sense I prolly looked horrible, but they helped me, patched me up, and taught me how to hunt and fish!

"I don't hear very well. Hearing aids resolve it well, but obviously it would be absurd to wear them while sleeping. If they died prematurely in a day, or something occurred while I rested, that could prove difficult to navigate."

Celina looked up from her position outside the school, nearby some flowers. She listened for a moment, then seemed to realize.

"The translator works for students too then, that's good to know..."

She murmured to herself before speaking more clearly, making sure to direct her face to the stranger in case lipreading was of importance. She thought for a moment of sign, before realizing that must not be how it worked. What a relief she'd had the translation ritual sorted, at least.

"I'm Celina, it's nice to meet you, Mage Thunder. Is that your magic type as well, if you don't mind me asking?"

*He smiles. Upon closer look, he has something metal on their right leg*

Celina tilted their head. She reached back as she spoke, tying her hair up to it's familiar messy ponytail as she spoke, rather than letting it rest out on her shoulders. Her eyes glanced, subtly, over to the metal, mostly to determine if it was medicinal, prosthetic, or potentially a weapon.

"We have some overlap, I work with weather. I wonder if our magic is compatible then?"

<Maybe, would be fun! Also, I can hear. Talking is dificult for me. The thunderstorm I call upon, makes my magic stronger. Does use alot of mana, that’s how I got this scar!>

Celina's eyebrows raised at the scar, as she stepped forward to examine it.

"I haven't really seen it rain here, minus magically-caused. Can you make thunderstorms with your magic as well?"

"Would you be interested in training together sometime? There has to be some sort of overlap with our magics, something useful in that..."

"Are you usually long ranged then? I tend to use my sword, but I'm a half-decent shot even in subpar conditions."

Celina nods to herself. Internally, her relief kept growing.

"When are you free to train? I wake up pretty early, but I know a lot of people prefer to sleep in when they can."

"Was anyone else in your town immune?"

*There aren't any, her eyes also reflect any and all light* <Don't know, don't think so. I never left the house like I said>

"Right. Maybe it's worth giving your hometown a visit sometime, if you're up for it. If immunity is possible, that's worth having confirmed."

Celina's skepticism was obvious as she spoke, but she didn't seem to think Mage was lying. More likely, there was something more at play. As far as she knew, immunity wasn't a thing. If it was, it was useful in the field, not in an academy.

She'd be more useful in a field too, maybe. But she pushed that thought out of her head - she knew her task.
