Edy’s Pumpkin Pie
Review under the cut!
The first thing to notice is the orange color. It’s a much more realistic orange color for something that’s mostly milk, but it is not the deep orange that we expect from the usual pie.
Next, note that it has a “graham cracker swirl” instead of pieces. This was an odd choice as swirl, to me, implies liquid and not a solid chunk. My main problem lies with the faux crust as well. They did not give the ice cream the usual bump of spices in the pie, but the bulk of spice flavor comes from the crust. I wouldn’t want to eat a pumpkin pie where the majority of the flavor came from the crust. Now, I can partially excuse it, as it is supposed to be an ice cream version of the dessert, and not the dessert itself. It still seems like a strange choice though.
On the ice cream side, I found the pumpkin flavor a little lacking, but overall very satisfying. No matter how far from the first opening, the ice cream itself was always very creamy and consistent with the taste.
The packaging is quite festive and really gives it that fall feeling. I like the design of the graphics, however, as always, it is always a mess trying to scoop from a container that is taller than it is wide.
Overall, I would say this is a good version of the popular Fall pie, but if you’re looking for an exact replica, you should try elsewhere.
