First of all, I’m so happy I found a way to get in touch with you. I have many thoughts and questions, so I’ll try to express them as clearly and politely as possible. I don't speak English, so I usually read your work using a browser translator, and I’m using translation tools to write this message as well.
I want to say that you and your sister have done a magnificent job! Your creativity is stunning. I can’t even fully express how much I admire and love your AU. I’ve been reading your fanfiction for about two years now, and I look forward to every new chapter with so much excitement. Your world is so multifaceted and layered.
The first chapter of your new story arc literally blew my mind. My reaction was basically: "Ah! Oh~ Damn! So that’s why they- He! AAAAH! That explains that moment! THIS IS INCREDIBLE!" And I’m not exaggerating. When you posted the new chapter, I spent the whole day reading it in small bits because my brain needed time to process everything.
I have so many questions! But I’ll hold back on most of them and wait for explanations as the new chapters come out. However, if possible, I would love to know your thoughts on one specific thing regarding MK.
As I recall, he was created artificially through magic, and Wukong and Guanyin granted him a soul. He grew at the rate of a normal mortal, but he isn't human - he was a demon from birth. Because of this, I wanted to ask a clarifying question about the races in your universe.
Given that MK is 21 (effectively 17), stands about 5 feet tall, looks and acts like a teenager, and possesses incredible combat and magic skills... how do members of other races or beings from other continents perceive him?
I have this specific idea in my head that MK is often perceived as a "cub" or a child, even if he is an adult by mortal laws. In the eyes of many gods and immortals, he really is still a "little one," but for those who only live for a century or two, the way his family and friends treat him might seem strange. I can’t stop thinking about how MK will have to deal with these varying perceptions for many years to come. (This is just based on my understanding of the plot and your comments - please correct me if I’ve missed or confused anything!)
Also, if it’s not too much trouble, I would love to get some physical descriptions for some of your original characters. I’d really like to try drawing them when I have time, or even just to have a better mental image while reading (for instance, I’d love to know if a character has dark fur, a horn, etc., before I start sketching a scene).
That’s all! Sorry again for the long text. I hope I wasn't being rude. I would be very grateful for any response. Have a wonderful day!
So… *evil laugh* We, my sister and I, agreed that MK is still a kid. The demon/mystic (we use “mystic” to denote good non-humans and “demons” to denote bad non-humans) community, in our version, recognizes that until you complete your first century, you are still a minor.
Mystic children will grow into an adult-like body at the same rate as humans because being a young child for long is dangerous for the child. They, however, endure a second phase growth spurt.
This is known as “Mystic Puberty”.
This takes about a year and during this time you are legally insane. The whole puberty thing is so unpleasant that the child will remember nothing about that year at all. There will be casualties and some sacrifices. I believe our vision of MK’s distance pubescent fever is him gnawing on Wukong the entire time, because his instincts said “Monkey King safe”, and Wukong just has to endure it, because he’s indestructible. I also believe we discussed that Liu and Beng were laughing at Wukong’s expense over this, because when Wukong went through that phase, they were the sacrifices. (Sacrifices are responsible for wrangling the pubescent youth during that time. Chaos will vary.)
Fun fact: When Havoc had become king, following the death of his parents and disappearance of his brother, he had just wrapped up his Mystic Puberty a couple months earlier and was still all arms and legs. He hadn’t had the chance to fill out his frame when everything went down.
Fun Fact 2: Macaque had a miserable but tame year, (a lot of whining and wanting cuddles cause he hurt all over,) and Emmet was with Ao Wen, the dragons, during his. So Wukong will be caught completely flat footed when MK hits puberty. (I think the dragons had a physically and magically reinforced cell with a small flap in the door to push food and water in that they would stuff their problematic youths into. They didn’t let them out until the roaring stopped. Emmet continues this practice with the enclave.)
As for appearances… I can give some racial features, but for specific characters it’s better to just ask specifically. We can give a run down of their features. Hell, maybe I’ll actually get out the drawing pad and post crude sketches if you ask.
Tigrens: All Black. The males are typically tall with thick muscles. Females are typically much shorter and slender. Macaque is considered to be a runt and even effeminate due to his smaller more delicate appearance. Havoc was on the upper side of typical but not the biggest brute in the kingdom. I think the battle crazy duke was the big boy. Thanos is in the same class as Havoc. Latana is typical female, which makes her about the same height as Macaque. Ayla is the similar height but proportionally bulky due to all the axe throwing. Lily is slender but tall, I think, not that tall but a little taller than Macaque and typical females. Niyak is the right height for a man for slender instead of bulky. Nova was slightly big for a lady Tigren but not really that noticeable. Her pure white fur was a result of a magical backlash, she was originally black.
FFM Monkeys/White Macaques: (We are talking about the “enlightened” ones with forms more like Wukong, not the little guys we see in the show, though they do come from them.) They are cream white furred, typically, short, shorter than Wukong, and a little rotund in their features. They’re not fat, think Hobbits. Liu, however, is as tall as Wukong but slender in build. Beng is as tall as Havoc and equally bulky. Beng’s sister suffers a similar problem. She isn’t as tall but she is still too big to feel comfortable dating anyone from FFM. Which is why she is ecstatic when she meets Emmet as he is the first man she’s met whose chin she can fit under. Ma and Ba are the typical type, small, round and ready to kick ass or make mischief.
Piebald Monkeys/The Enclave: They are the descendants of Fei Ling’s force population integration project for the commoner Tigrens that survived the purge way back when. The piebalds, as the name implies, are mixed fur color, black with another color, black and white is common. For reasons the bigger size was favored, so they have the same proportions as the Tigrens. Emmet is actually tall for a Tigren but carries the same mass as Havoc, which causes him to not appear as bulky. He has more black fur when he was younger but due to trauma the white has spread.
Owl Monkeys: “Why OWL Monkey.” “Because Parrot Monkey sounds stupid.” Okay that wasn’t why. We were looking up different monkey types for reasons and discovered the actual Owl Monkey. We decided to make them flying monkeys… then made them showy and… well… Parrot Monkey still sounds stupid. Onward! Males! Tall, brightly colored, with wings and feathers, slender build. Females! Tall, subdued colors, fur only, no wings, tail twice as long as any other monkey type that they can crack like a whip. Red, orange, yellow are desired in males and considered masculine colors, with red being the manliness of colors. Red also seems to contain the largest population of deadbeat dads for some reason. Green, blue, gray are considered feminine colors as those are the colors found on the women. Females are predominantly gray with hints of blue and green in their fur. Unfledged boys, before the feathers grow in, are gold furred, and young girls are silver furred. Apollo is a rainbow of colors with dominate red feathers. In fact, the Solar Mystic being a red head is the reason why red is THE color to lust after. Ajax is emerald green with a blue crest. He is not considered pretty by the ladies because he has feminine colors. Marmet is blue gray with stronger blue tones here or there. Her long hair is not natural, they’re extensions but that action is also typical of females as they love to create their own crests to show off their trophies, aka the feathers of the men who annoyed them and got plucked as a result.
I think I should stop there right now. Hope that helps. I enjoyed this way too much!
