Summary: Gai has never been extremely good with weapons, always preferring his bare hands, but Anbu required a vast knowledge of everything so he had trained himself hard and then harder to learn even just the basics.
He still wasn’t as good as many others, but he also had a lot of aces up his sleeves.

Gai has joined Anbu. He thinks everything will go smoothly, but nothing ever goes as it should in the shinobi world.
Something happens. Many things happens, to be honest, and Gai is not sure if he can keep up with everything.
I am, somehow, still alive.
This story was previously posted with the title "And so it begins", but I wasn't satisfied with what I had written and I've ultimately decided to take it down and write it again.
I also have a very clear vision of the path this story will take, sooo... I hope people will like it.
its time for cursed headcanons, or ‘how madara could develop his rinnegan with hashirama’s spunk in his ass and why its better than whatever have happened in canon’
so madara unlocked his power after sewing a piece of hashiramas flesh into himself
im not sure if i remember it correctly but even if it wasnt mentioned its not an easy process to make an alien flesh to naturally get accustomed to your own, there sure is a lot of rejection to come
HOWEVER sperm is exactly the kind of thing thats SUPPOSED to fuse with another body, thats its main function, to fuse and to BRING LIFE
now lets talk a little about biological sex switching
if either one of them had a vagina with an uterus and stuff (and liek it doesnt matter who’s the one with the uterus) their child would definitely not only have rinnegan but would probably become another rikudou sennin
9 months is what takes for the fetus to develop
my point is if the one bearing the child was an uchiha (and im talking generally about any ~reincarnations~ of ashura and indra, this could as easily be applied to sasunaru), im pretty sure these 9 months would be enough for the bearer to develop rinnegan. its the thing that doesnt get rejected by your body, its the thing thats supposed to fuse with parts of your body so it doesnt take 90 fucking years. also you have a literal sage of six paths developing in your belly
NOW even if you dont have an uterus and no means to grow a goddamn rikudou sennin inside you, exposure to sperm might still be a better solution to all of this fuckery bc madara wouldn’t have to walk around with constantly rotting flesh on his chest. it might take maybe a little more than 9 months but id say he could get rinnegan in maybe a year if he follows his prescription correctly (which is hashiramas spunk constantly inside him)
thats the general point of it all
now if we talk about literal god senju hashirama feeding uchiha madara with his spunk maybe he wouldnt even need to bear a child that would become god, he could become god himself bc hashirama is just That strong
there could also be an added aspect of the emotional stuff. maybe for the rinnegan to awaken through getting a piece of the other “half” it would need some unspoken contract of trust and consent bc this ashura and indra stuff was all about trust and mutual understanding after all

I was re-playing Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask and I just noticed that Hershel and Randall reminds me a lot of Kakashi and Obito.
Both pairs were friends when they were younger. Both pairs find themselves in a dangerous situation, Hershel&Randall in the Akbadain Ruins while Kakashi&Obito going to save Rin. Both Randall and Obito ‘dies’ while Hershel and Kakashi are left watching their friends’ death. Both Randall and Obito are not really dead but everyone thinks so. Both Hershel and Kakashi are left going on with their lives with the guilt of letting their friends die. Both Randall and Obito are taken in by a bad guy, Randall follows Jean Descole while Obito follows Madara and Zetsu. Both return years later as the bad guy that the good guys needs to somehow defeat, Randall as the Masked Gentleman and Obito as Madara/Tobi. In the end both repented, but while Randall survives Obito dies.
How could I not see all of this before? This is wild.
Kakashi’s unimpressed. Most Jonin can hide Their chakra signature better than this. At least Genma should be able to do a better job. Keep himself hidden.
Not that it would do either of them any good. Kakashi knee those smells too well. They burned in his throat, left over reminents of the last time he was in Konoha. The time when Sukea and Gai got a little too close.
“Are you two done hiding?” He doesn’t take his eyes off of Team 7, but his attention is elsewear. He knows the standing orders against him. He knows what the possibilities of a fight arising out of all of this are.
The fight never comes.
Instead, Genma and Gai appear directly in front of Team 7. Blocking the young shinobi from Kakashi’s view. A protective stance, though unnecessary.
He never has any intention of hurting his students.
“Kakashi...” he keeps his eyes on Genma. It hurts too much to look at Gai. To see the sadness that matches that voice. To look at the man he left behind.

“Not here to stab me?” It’s obvious Genma wants to. That he would love the chance to attack. To hurt. He had always made his hatred of him clear whenever Gai brought him up around sukea.
Genma didn’t hate anyone like he hated him.
“I’m not here for me,” the words are simple and to the point. This isn’t a mission to take him down. Genma didn’t have the skill to do it anyways and he was smart enough to know it “I’m here for Gai.”
“You shouldn’t be here at all.” He says simple, still refusing to meet Gai’s eyes “students caught with me will get a slap on the wrist. You’ll both get in trouble.”
“Like you care.” The words are meant to hurt, and the succed. He wonders what lord third told them all. How he convinced them that he was a danger to Konoha. It must have been an interesting web of lies
“You’re right.” He lowers his eyes. It’s not a fight worth having. Nothing Genma says will be wrong. It never has been before.
“You’re a coward,” the words are spat at him, and they’ve never burned so deep “you left Konoha, Us...Gai.”
For the first time since their arrival, Kakashi dates to look over at Gai. He expects to se hatred. Anger. Hurt. He expects to be hated by the one person he dared to love no matter what. He’s ready for it.
He’s not ready for that soft look. That tender smile. Eyes that tell him he has been missed.
“Kakashi,” when Gai steps forward, he steps back. He’s afraid. Even after all these years he hurts. It has never gone away. Never healed. How could it? “Kakashi please. I just want to talk.”
It takes all his effort not to cry.
“You should go.” The words burn in his throat. He doesn’t want Gai to leave. To vanish.
He wants to lunge forward and bury his nose in his shoulder, never letting go again.
He can’t. It’s too dangerous.
“All these years,” the anger still drips in Genma’s words “all these years and you’re still a coward!”
He knows it’s true. But if being a coward is what will keep Gai safe.
As always, this is all @depressedkakashihatake‘s fault! But I must say, I needed a small break from the insane shit I’m writing right now. So. About that Rogue Kakashi AU. And now I’m discovering a small love for Genma/Gai (I still love KakaGai more, but, I mean, I do appreciate them)
Anyway. I was saying? Ah, yes. Here’s a bit of angst.

No matter what.
“You still love him.” Genma’s voice is firm and his eyes hard. Gai knows that he’s not asking, he’s only stating the truth, and he finds himself looking away from his partner’s face. “After everything you went through because of him...” The tokubetsu’s hands close around Gai’s, his senbon kept between his clenched teeth.
Gai feels like a rock is stuck in his throat, and he has problems swallowing down the lump. “I’m sorry...” Is all he can say, his voice barely a whisper, so far from his usual boisterous self. He grips hard on Genma’s hands, almost afraid of letting go, lowering his head until it was resting on his lover’s shoulder.
The chunin exams where finished with almost no problems at all, aside from Oto’s shinobis trying to attack them, even if their attack was rather weak. It seemed that their boss, whoever they were, never showed up, and they went down easily. Suna’s Kage was missing and Lee’s leg was still in an uncertain condition after his fight with Gaara, but Gai couldn’t bring himself to care right now.
He feels bad for it, Lee is his adorable pupil, he’s like a son to him, but after seeing Sasuke using the chidori against Gaara he feels like his brain had stopped, reaching a screeching halt and erasing anything else around him, because that was Kakashi’s jutsu and no one but him could use it, and that meant that Kakashi was out there, somewhere, helping Sasuke with his training.
Genma doesn’t say anything, he just bring one hand Gai’s silky hair, massaging his scalp with tenderness. “I’m sorry...” Is all that Gai can whisper, but Genma is not mad at him. He’s mad, yes, but at Kakashi, who thought that he could reappear after more than ten years like it was nothing. Like he had any right to just teach something to a Konoha shinobi.
Genma is not able to explain all of this to Gai, and all he can do is letting his hands go to hug him, trying to keep him grounded. They stay like this for a long time, Gai murmuring apologizes and shaking in his arms, Genma embracing him with all the love he feels for him.
He always knew that Gai was never really able to forget Kakashi, even after the Hatake decided to run away from the village after the Yondaime’s death, at barely fourteen years old, leaving behind no one but Gai, who always cared way too much about him. It stings, but Genma knows that he can’t do anything about it, no matter how hard he tries.
“You’ll try to see him.” Is what Genma says after a long time in silence, and Gai goes rigid in his arms, before the first sob break free from his control, followed by many others. Gai’s not pretty when he cries, he’s loud and he has snot in his noise and his face becomes red and blotchy, but that never stopped him from breaking in front of Genma, who’s probably the only person in the whole village that saw him cry for real, and not his usual manly tears.
Gai cries, and Genma holds him while they sink to the ground, on the floor of his apartment.
Genma hates this, hates that just the idea of Kakashi being near the village can make Gai cry, he hates that Gai’s feelings are still so strong after all this time, even if he was able to make room in his heart for Genma as well, because Gai has enough love for two, even if Kakashi doesn’t deserves the tears of this wonderful, pure-hearted shinobi who never tried to kill his emotions just because the others says that it’s the right thing to do.
“I’m not going to stop you, Gai.” He murmurs, on of his hands never stopping stroking Gai’s hair, trying to make him relax just a bit. “But if you do want to see him, than I’m coming with you.” That gets him a reaction, and Gai’s suddenly looking at him through teary eyes, and Genma smiles. It’s a small smile, a bit pained, but still honest and full of affection. “I’m not letting you deal with this alone, Gai. I still love you.”
Gai’s lower lip tremble, and Genma can’t help himself. He takes his face in his hands, kissing his damp cheeks, and than his eyes, before kissing his lips with all the love he feels for him, and Gai is clutching at him like Genma’s the only things that can keep him afloat in his internal ocean of emotions.
“I still love you too...” He hiccups when Genma breaks the kiss, their foreheads one against the other, and Genma chuckles weakly, sweeping his thumbs on Gai’s cheeks to take away his tears.
“I know.” He says, looking at Gai’s bottomless eyes, his smile gentle and kind. “I know.”
Why do you and your followers have to create such wonderful AUs, now I wanna write on Hokage!Danzou but I already got a very long story in the writing...

But like... the thought of Kakashi completely out of control of himself being forced to be the obedient root operative Danzo wanted?
Although I couldn’t see very well through the snow…That was him. The other middle-schooler. Well, even though we didn’t meet, we’re both detectives. We’ll meet again someday, upon the stage of mystery.
