Also I got to draw a fat character so I get a chance to give him some complex traits/stories going forward!! Surprisingly, I struggled more on the girl. I suck at drawing pretty ppl :(

Started off as simple separate drawings of them. I probably shouldn't have placed them so close. Now it looks like she's standing there, nonchalant that's bros getting bullied lol. This is a bit of a sad one, lads. Yeah, hes dirty cause he was bullied, but his mom's also a hoarder—and refuses to buy anything for him. It's not like he has a good wardrobe, which makes him even more of a target unfortunately. And who’d even try when everyone, including ma keeps calling out his failures. So I added a cute doodle because I'm a KIND, GENEROUS person. Also, I didn't use a reference for both shoes, so l just free-styled it. Same with the shading toh lol. "Little bit of this and that" ahh drawing. Also I was watching Baki so if my characters all become huge muscular men, don't be surprised.

Holy ahit i am a terribly slow artist. I came up fully with the idea of gabe and anne last year in march-may. Or maybe earlier since characters and ideas evolve over time. Back then Gabe was kinda a “joke”. Kinda. It was supposed to be this sort of lolcow fat uggo nerd with this girly pretty bimbo girl. Nerd web creep subculture vs gyaru subculture. Opposites attract?!?!?! I am so original and so clever and my brain is as big as my 12 incher. Obvious thats kinda changed more and more. Atleast in the notes app. It felt kinda disrespectful to him. Hes more than a joke. He has so many problems with how he was raised and how much he thinks he messes up. Yes, i like to draw crazy characters. And gabe has LOTS of flaws. Morals are kinda out the window. Hes bad and creepy. And unconventional. And i love outsider art. But i was lowkey scared to draw fat characters for some reason?!?! It always relates to fetish slop cause ofc it does! Wow, you cant have interesting overweight characters. Their entire existence has to rely on a sexual fetish. And its kinda sad but true cause all the fetish artist draw really good diverse body types. And im not gonna hate on them—just dont wanna be a part of it cause its not sexual. And i asked one and they were actually helpful on references. Like, wow, lovely people, really. Im gonna draw midwest freaks now cause its been a year daddy.

It was on the ref but I got completely rid of it. I was gonna erase it but I felt kinda bad so I saved it. Uhhh… I hate it. Hate it. As you can see,I struggled on the skin, dress, face, feet, whatever. Again, I cannot draw women. This was when I was leaning way more on the gyaru, ultra girlie Anne. And she still kindaaa is, just less revealing lol. I do like how she was wearing the bracelet Gabe made for her tho.

OKAY I LIED. there was a previous version of her. I hated it cause she looked weird. I struggled with the pose. Also IBIS KEPT GLITVHING AND RUINING MY FILE. FUCK IBS PAINT BRO. But I discovered an old photo on my phone. It’s blurry but it showed I tried to lean into online archetypes— bimbo gyaru and ugly loser nerd. Obviously Anne became something else and lost her swag. Also it was old. I took me months to actually settle on a design lol.

Someone please.. take my computer away from me. I planned to draw all weekend, instead I stayed up all night playing this. There was no way I could afford a switch. But boats are practically free nowadays and the ocean was so nice. They’re so cute in mii form

Is what goes through my mind as I try to write Gabe or look for drawing inspo/refs. Because the only thing you’ll find on fat people is centered around the fact they’re fat. And I’m not gonna shame or judge anyone’s fetish. That’s ur turf. And ik from experience, weight is a huge deal. I will not step on any toes. But finding non-nsfw refs is hard and body types are so diverse 😭 Like can I get good fat people references? It’s either stock photos depicting them as stereotypes or fetish gainer pics that just focus on the belly. 🤦
