perhaps she couldnât fully relate to her fellow godsâ struggles, but Finn had a gut feeling that Noah had transitioned well. She had a feeling it had something to do with his leg injuryâmaybe it made it clear that the door to his old life had firmly shut. As good as that was for Hephaestus, she couldnât imagine how Noah mustâve felt about it all.
âIâm not virginal,â Finn blurted out, feeling her cheeks redden even more. Liar. She knew the logistics of things, and she knew how you were meant to feel. But all her boyfriends had been wrong for herâshe mustâve been the first incarnation of Aphrodite who cared about true love, because really, it shouldnât have been this difficult. Clearing her throat, she added, âI believe in fate, so guess itâs pretty similar. But I wouldnât be surprised if we were meant to meet.â She wanted to add that they would be meeting again, but she thought that was implied. Even if they couldnât remember it, they were always meant to meet.
Finn couldnât help but laugh. âSo you must be a pastry boy, then?â Pastries werenât her favourite thing, but she could appreciate a good danish. It surprised her that they were Noahâs thing, though. For some reason he didnât seem like heâd be the type. Then again, what did Finn really know about him? She was reminded of that only moments later. âYou threw a ball at his head because he was annoying you?â She couldnât help but be a little bit alarmed. What did he necessarily think was annoying? Regardless, she nodded and looked at him some uncertainty. Ben had had many flaws, but one of the biggest was how rough and violent he was. An uneasy feeling settled in her stomach.
She didnât want to judge Noah one something that mustâve happened in the spur of the momentâmuch like her own muffin moment did, even if it was more violent. It didnât stop her smile from being a little forced, however. âYeah, youâre rightâbetter the drums than a wall. It would be a good emotional outlet for all that, I guess.â Finn nodded and smiled. She was a little curious at what he would write. This whole conversation had thrown her. She didnât know what to expect of him. Tousling her hair a little, she shrugged. âMaybe,â she answered honestly. âI think I need to get to know you a little more.â
âJust because I have a pretty face, doesnât mean I donât have to put some work into it. How many people do you know who have pretty faces but are ugly on the inside?â Finn tilted her head. It was something she thought about quite a bit, especially readings the old myth stories. Aphrodite had been vain and petty, expecting things to go her way because she was beautiful. It didnât sit well with Finn. âBut they should be⌠I mean, of all people, I think that itâs nice that itâs them.â
