"We're not supposed to be honest when people ask us how we are?"

Uhm.. Actually, you can be. There's a lot of people who are honest when answering that question. They just do it in ways that don't come across so upsetting or depressing.

Many people sugarcoat their answers to be more palatable for a greeting, or for a start of a conversation. It can also just be a polite way of giving others an out for a potential depressing conversation they may not want to be a part of.

These responses usually come in forms like, - "How are you?/How's it going?" - "Could be better." "It's definitely going." "I'm still alive." "I'm getting there." "New day, new problems." "Well, I'm still here." "Same old." "It's not all sunshine." "It's moving along". "It is what it is." "Not great but I'll survive." "Hoping tomorrow comes quickly." And many more responses like this. These are all ways of basically saying "Things are kinda/very shit at the moment for me". But they just don't go into detail about it. They are being honest, without the extra information.

If the other person doesn't want to go further into this then they may just responed with something like "I feel you", or "That's relatable", or "Yeh, that's life". Which are basically ways of saying "I acknowledge things aren't easy right now", without having to go into a conversation about it. Not everyone has the emotional energy to deal with conversations like that in that moment and that's okay.

Honesty doesn't need to come with the extra information. A lot of people won't give the extra information and that's the difference.

id love to write a story where there's like maybe 3-4 main character povs and all of them are like, extremely subtext heavy povs, except for one, that spells out everything they're thinking in a direct and straightforward manner, except they're an incredibly unreliable narrator so you can't trust their information either

like, it saw v1 and immediately started showing off; sliding by all nonchalant? crashing through the window?? the flamboyant little bow??? and it gets enraged when you're NOT fighting, engaging with it?

most of all, how it runs away.

that's not something we have the option to do as the player, but it makes me wonder. is that something v2 expects of v1? recognition of a loss that doesn't end in death? among all the little mannerisms that v1 is never given opportunity to show inclination for or lack thereof, is v1 set apart by a killer instinct because they've never considered not fighting on to be an option?

I'll keep playing the game, and see if i get answers, i suppose.

I do think it’s interesting how the flowers knew Kris was the one to create the Dark Fountain and still didn’t snitch to Asgore. Like, here is this perfect opportunity to drive a wedge between Asgore and his child and resolve Asgore's whole obsession with being proven right (especially with how Flowery continues to understate how much Kris means to Asgore) and Flowery doesn’t take it.

Like Flowery probably assumed it would make Asgore deeply upset, but also... Flowery is probably the nicest of the bosses we can fight in that he won't kill us if we fail the boss fight with him. He is very clearly taking extra care to not seriously hurt the Fun Gang. So it reads as an element of protecting Kris from Mr "parade their body around town" as well.

83 minutes fighting the tundra and agony swordsmachine yaoi power couple and then the hideous mass

once again the. strategy. for swordsmachines. bounce on them :') and parry the sword throws :') but equally because these guys help each other up :') and big booms when you have a moment :')

the hideous mass just- keep it chill i wound up mainly using the revolver buzzing around it in circles blasting away at the tail, plus a bit of close up shotgun to heal. but those aren't important really. it's just keeping it chill.

and then another half an hour to find out you can ragebait v2 by hiding behind a pillar and just... flick them with coins until they dont-die
