Summary:
A father who lost his daughter. A daughter who lost her father. Isnāt that a familiar story? Cassandra Kohen is fifteen. Cassandra Kohen is an orphan. And there is a lake. There is a lighthouse. There is a widow, a graveyard, and a keeper for them all. There is a protection broken, a binding loosed, a horror no longer soothed to rest. Arthur Lester is the death of her, over and over and over again. Arthur Lester killed her before he even met her. But this time, her death takes her by the hand and tries to protect her. He tries. There is a shadow of a god and a failure of a father and a malevolence in them all. So twist the screw, make it hurt a little more. Maybe that will fix us, or at least keep us in place a minute longer. There is beauty in the gutter, and a light in the dark. There is love, and there is grief, and there is a hand to hold despite it all. There is a girl who should be dead with no home to return to. There is a father who was the death of his daughter. There is a god who learns to adore them both. And there is the ghosts between them all.
