do you have any fic recs? I love Optimus centred fanfics (esp ship centered ones hah) im very interested to know!

Oh gosh I thought i would be more prepared for an ask like this so im sorry for how late this answer is getting to you. I'm going to try and break this answer into sections. But im telling you now that enjoy dark and more toxic fics then i do fluffy fics. Also I'm gonna try to avoid one shots since if i did those i would have a million recs.

MegOp centered fics: these fics either are building the megop relationship or its a consistent focus in the fics or the ship is a plot point/ motivation for either Optimus or Megatron.

Two Sides To The Same Coin series: TF one/ Incomplete/ Two fics that follow both Optimus and Megatron as they try to navigate their new lives without each other. Optimus learns he is sparked with Megatrons sparkling and is currently raising him in secret. Meanwhile Megatron finds an Orion replacement and makes a sparkling with them. If you like how the two take their divorce this is a good fic for you.

Idol Optimus/ Orion: TF One/ Incomplete/ Orion is an idol that goes by the name Optimus and D16 has a massive celebrity crush on the bot. That is until he actually meets Orion Pax and it turns out he's a massive brat. A mostly fluffy slow burn with D16 liking when Orion is mean to him. Also calls out the toxic and overly controlling idol culture.

The Lost Prime: TF One/ Incomplete/ Tangled AU with Orion as Rapunzel :D This is a very cute fic and I love Sentinel's portrayal in this. A bit of a good slow burn as well and im excitedly awaiting the next chapter.

Prisoners of the Prime: TF One/ Incomplete/ Sentinel finds out that Orion is the only remaining fertile mech on cybertron. He gives both Orion and D16 cogs and keeps Orion locked up and casts D16 out to Kaon to die in the pits. D16 now Megatron vows to become a monster to save Orion from Sentinel (Fic contains Non-con)

Pandora's Box: TF One/ Incomplete/ D16 gets a datapad about interface as a reward for stopping a... "Mugging" and he decides to leave it in the miners public library Orion finds it instantly and causes a new wave of sexual exploration between all the miners and D16 suffers for it. A comedic explicate fic that has D16 learning new things about himself and his relationship with Orion

Surrogate: TF One/ Incomplete/ A dark and twisted Megatron keeps Senteniel alive, disabled, and coggless to use him as a replacement for Orion for when he eventual captures his prize. Orion shows up a couple of chapters in. Please make sure you read every tag before reading as this fic is very graphic (Non-con in nearly every chapter and Megatron is a delusional and deplorable bastard)

A Million Words and Worlds Apart: All Media types (Mostly G1 vibes with jet megatron) / Complete/ Optimus finds out he's sparked and is forced to look back on his and Megaton's really messy relationship. This fic is one of my favs cause of how Megatron is written as a smug and possessive bastard and Optimus is just so done with him. Also there is a twist near the end that just makes me laugh if i think about it too long. (Single Non-con Scene near the beginning)

Optimus/ Orion centered fics: While most of these will contain MegOp the realshionship is either already established or takes a backseat in the story.

Return Me To The Stars: TF animated/ Incomplete (one chapter left!!!) / MegOp near the end/ Optimus is discovered by the nemesis floating through space and half dead. When he awakes he is taken prisoner after attacking the medic like a wild animal. But he escapes and just starts living in the nemisis's walls and bribing the crew to leave him alone by making them sweets and fixing the AC.

The Matrix's guide to raising a Prime: All media types/ Incomplete/ no MegOp/ This doesn't really follow optimus but it is mostly about him. The matrix of leadership is frustated that it hasnt gotten a new holder yet and sets out to find one itself. But instead comes across an orphaned and feral sparkling he lovingly name Orion and plans on raising him to be a Prime some day if he can't find a holder any time soon.

Keep It Sealed: Tf Prime and Animated/ Incomplete/ MegOp included/ Tf Prime Optimus gets sent to the Tf Animated universe and meets their team prime and Megatron.

I hope at least one of these fics catch your interest these are the main fics i could remember off the top of my head and i know i can dig through my history but this post has already gotten pretty long.

Everytime I try to comprehend the cybertronian perspectives of time all ways cause me headache

Even though Transformer was written by human, I just can't help but felt like something was off somehow.

Average cybertronian could live up for millions of years, so one solar cycle on Earth would feel like a day or weeks to them.

In a blink then their human companion is gone. But we need to take in other factor into consideration like the physiology.

As we human get older, our brains process new information more slowly due to the degradation of neural pathways. This slower processing means we perceive fewer mental images in the same amount of clock time, making days and years feel like they pass more quickly.

Cybertronian are different arn't they ?

How much could they remember in the span of centuries ? How do time flow from their point of view ?

I also read about other stories that include immortals, characters with long life but cybertronian doesn't feel exactly like them in term of writing .

And most of the vibe I felt between human and transformer is like between me and my goldfish , not even comparable to relationship between an owner with their dog or cat.

Sure my fish death did make me sad but not for long.

So the human felt more like an exotic pet in some case

Anyway this is going to be mainly the IDW1 Orion Pax/Early Optimus and pre-Earth Optimus, which are roughly the same design bc that one is my favorite. In no particular order:

1.- His little white finials or whatever they're called

They're so cuuuuuuute!! All Optimus finials are fantastic and i love them dearly, but these white ones are absolutely adorable and a nice framing for his face.

2.- Beautiful yellow eyes

Look, Optimus Prime with blue eyes is nice and all but the yellow eyes are amazing. They stand out among his blue/red scheme and look very intense, they're especially good when they compliment small yellow accents in other parts of his frame.

3.- Face Mask

Is not Optimus Prime without one

4.- Tits

Sir, do you need help holding those?

5.- Blue crotch

Sir, why are your dressed like a harlot, sir?

Drift, Optimus Prime, and LOVE

Everyone who has followed this blog for at least a year knows that I ship Drift and Optimus Prime for several (kinda silly) reasons. Namely:

They look hot together (thick thighs squad)

A crystal/horoscope/pagan girlie and an atheist pope. (Oversimplification but funny as fuck)

Deadlock domming/getting dommed by Optimus Prime? Sign me the fuck up.

But.

But I totally overlooked the fact that I have CANON material backing me up. Ohohoho let me get my sources.

Lil disclaimer: I have a love/hate relationship with the first idw run. I don't know which one is stronger tbf. Even if I don't agree with several plot points I'm going to discuss I can still see how they [intentionally or not] formed a bugger picture that serves my purposes. It's a bit of cherry picking if I have to be honest, but I don't feel too guilty looking at all the retcons this series had to begin with.

Why am I saying this? Because Drift as a character is one of the things I both love and hate for the way he was handled as a whole, but I won't go into details because it's not necessary and because I have already seen people on this site articulate this better than I could. The same thing applies to Ratchet, but that is another can of worms, and I am not willing to open it now.

So:

Drift: He comes from Rodion, where he is homeless and is found in a state of confusion by Orion Pax that saved him from Sonic and Boom (these fucking names 💀) and was then brought from HIM to Ratchet's underground clinic.

At this point I was full on rambling in the server becasue:

So to tidy up all that here's what I was hinting at:

Ratchet and his words sure were the initial push that Drift needed to get his life back "together"(as much as one can during a war, but you understand what I'm saying) were it not for Orion Pax's choices he wouldn't be here at all.

Orion Pax saved a mech from two thugs, someone completely out of their wits in that moment, a complete stranger. He had done his job, thugs were dealt with and then he could either arrest Drift (don't quote me on that but I am pretty sure whatever circuit booster he was on was not legal/legally obtained) ergo. Drift would die.

Or take him to a normal hospital, so either Drift died or he would later have troubles with the law, or whatever way the system could further fuck him up. Either way Drift does NOT meet Ratchet.

But Orion Pax took Drift's lufe in his hands and brought him to Ratchet. So he ensured that he had both a good doctor and someone he KNEW and trusted AND that Drift would not suffer more than he already did.

So- Ratchet is sure Drift's [hero/important person/insert better word here*] because he was the doctor that saved him from a fatal overdose and that told him he was special and all that.

But ORION PAX hauled him up and made sure he would live in the first place. And I Will come back to this point later to expand on it. Remember it.

So you see the sentence "what if not the love for life itself of Orion Pax saved Drift?"

This is what then promoted another ramble about a scene I wanted to put in another fic and then about idw OP so... I will ignore the part regarding my wip because it's not too relevant and juno to the idw op part:

To explain how I came to this it's because I was imagining a scene in which Optimus Prime sees Drift and Ratchet and then had a convo with Drift.

And to further prive my point Drift is one of the several statements of LOVE from Op/Orion.

Every action in the comics is driven by an enormous amount of love underneath. The love for "freedom, those he cares about, those that are weaker, those that cannot fend for themselves end even for his enemies and their battles"

Now you can say these are all different kinds of "love" and yet Orion Pax and Optimus Prime both love ardently. His anger and guilt DO come from their love! Ffs it's right there abfjgjg.

Now i went on a rant about Megatron and how he benefits from Optimus' love

That inspired part of the entire thing about love and the part about Megatron and fear.

So to go back to my original statement about Optimus Prime and Drift.

Optimus Prime is really a teagic character and I was getting a bit teary thinking about him if I have to be honest. He sacrificed so much and got such little payoff, even speaking of meta.

All the good things that came from his action, well he is able to witness a very small percentage of them. All the goodbyes and the people he cared for were denied to him.

Drift. Drift exists thanks to Orion's love. Drift met the love of his life, he met his friends, he found reasons to live, and found himself and yet...

Optimus Prime was never able to see Ratchet and Drift together. His best friend and a mech he saved so long ago happy and together.

As I said above, the price Optimus Prime/Orion Pax paid for the love of life itself he felt so strongly was all of himself... just so others could love.

Optimus Prime is not sfupid, though he loves strongly. Galvatron was a menace, and his existence a danger for everyone else. So he had to go. Like. Be fr. That was one of the darkest moment in Op's character for a reason fellas bjt still he was NOT wrong imo.

You cannot serve two gods at once. Optimus Prime for Love and life had to end some lives. That's the tragedy of this character.

This man was willing to fight his own kind to ensure others would not be hurt? HOW EXPLICIT DO YOU WANT HIS LOVE TO BE GUYS.

IDW Optimus is a catboy: My hypothesis

Can fall/jump from high places without being hurt

Has cute ears

Is a bastard

A strong need for personal space

Prefers time to himself to think and unwind

Subcategory of the above: Enjoys sitting in enclosed boxes to think better

Gets zoomies that can only be relieved by running around and doing action things

My hypothesis is very hastily formed, so I may have forgotten some points or worded them poorly...

hiiiiiii youre quite literally the only person who has given me hope that idw optimus can be an interesting character (my first introductions to him were tfone and tfp, which hold him as the better good, and while im not against the idea of him fucking up what i see most people doing is boiling him down to be a piece of shit, esp when talking about the rodimus n megatron situation in lost light). soo as someone who has never touched a transformers comic, where should i start?

Honestly I think there are people in the fandom that are way more informed about IDW1 as a whole, but if you want comics specifically about IDW OP, I believe somewhere in the #idw op love tag on my blog (I will add it to this post for convenience) has a post by quetzalpapalotl with exact series and issue numbers that would be the most concise list for OP-only content.

If you don't want to go hunting for that, my top picks for select issues/series to read for the "best of" IDW OP would be these (if you just want to skip directly to his bits and are okay with missing some context)

The Transformers (2009) #22-23 (Chaos Theory and Police Action): Introduces pre-war Orion Pax and his first meeting with Megatron, how that inspired him to rebel against the Senate. Has really good megop as a bonus

Death of Optimus Prime: The one-shot that started phase 2, leads nicely into reading MTMTE which is by far the best series in IDW1 that most people start with. Very briefly summarizes what happened in the Chaos story (the aforementioned bullet point) and features some snapshots of how exactly the public sees OP (neutrals hate him so bad) and what his thoughts are on being a leader

The Autocracy Trilogy (Autocracy, Monstrosity, Primacy): Takes place some time after Chaos Theory/Police Action (skips over some events that are covered in flashbacks in MTMTE) and covers the early acts of the war such as Orion's ascension to the primacy and becoming Optimus. Really digs into the nitty gritty of war causing environmental and resource crises, people flee the war as refugees, Optimus faces a lot of questions to his leadership because of how he worked for the previous Prime, Zeta. Literally the trilogy that made me fall in love with IDW Optimus

MTMTE #9-11: A flashback arc that covers what happened more or less right after Orion stormed the Senate in Chaos Theory/Police Action. OP and co. investigate a conspiracy.

MTMTE #36 (part of Elegant Chaos): A flashback issue that covers what happened right after the flashback in MTMTE 9-11. OP and his friends are outlaws fighting the Senate in undercover missions

Punishment (part of Barber's Dinobots trilogy): Takes place during phase 2, the context isn't super important but basically OP is investigating serial murders among the Decepticons. A really really good portrayal of his views on justice, the cycle of violence, and how to build a post-war society.

Those are honestly the shortest/most important/most Optimus-centric issues you need to read. The rest would be stuff like the rest of The Transformers (2009) or a lot of exRID/OP, but those are literal entire series with like 80 issues combined that would be a huge burden to read (and IMO aren't that good, or at least exRID/OP aren't. TF 2009 is good but has some dumb/cringe aspects).
