Arsene Lupin as a read
Hello! My name is Flash Ghost and this my first short book review.
Today i'll be reviewing:
Lupin's adventures are written as short stories with correlation between them, kind of like my d&d table; This makes so you don't really need to read all previous works to understand the plot at hand. Some adventures are better that others, and though i haven't read all of them (there are more that 20 books in this bish) They're mostly fun!
I think the most fun comes from 2 things: Lupin's uncanny luck and how its framed in the world of the book, And his talent for both breaking in and escaping (Its honestly BS sometimes, but it is fun to see how far the writter makes his characters push their luck). There are many stories with Lupin as their protagonist. The worst stories for me are the ones containing huge paragraphs of detective work. Dialogue. Details. Details about letters and their respective adresses. Details about multiple families and their relationships. Their work relationships and so on. Maybe this richness in details are a product of their relatively unbrainroted times, and that brings me to a pertinent topic:
Arséne Lupin's stories are decidedly old. You can smell it on the cadence. Its slow and detailed. You could say deep, but only relatively so. So, if you're looking for something different, definetly try it.
Overall Arséne Lupin's adventures are these absurd acts of trickery and mistery written in a way that wonder but may challenge the usual tiktok scroller (like me. I'm the tiktok scroller).
And this concludes my first book review! I hope you liked it. There are more to come. xoxo
Personal notes:
I've been wanting to read this book for years, even after watching the Netflix series. That affected my expectations a bit i think. I grew up playing stealth games like Thief, Mark of the Ninja, and Dishonored. And, much the same, the thing i liked the least of these games was the story. No shade to Dishonored's lore, but really quickly jumping around like a wraith picking targets with precision is too fun lol! And also most stealth games also challenge you with optional objectives that test your skill, so there's also replayability.
