                               DARK.       DAMP.       VOID.

      THIS PLACE IS NOT ONE OF COMFORT. NOR ONE OF HOPE. planet x. home to the FLORA COLOSSUS. a species not known for their kindness , but rather a deep desire to further their own intellect. even as saplings the creatures begin to learn , being taught the ways of their own kind through the experience of their elders. CURIOSITY has always been encouraged among them. it comes to no surprise then , that their motivation to harm is driven from this innate CRAVING. not all , of course , some are just violent by nature. but NEVER against one of their own. such is not permitted & would lead to banishment. hostility is only directed toward inferior species , of which the colossus do not interact with. those are the RULES.

      BUT THEN , RULES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MADE TO BE BROKEN. he’s always been -- different compared to the brethren. curiosity is there , playing at the forefront of his mind. however , it differs from fellow FLORA. interest is in the living , interacting with the smaller creatures. the way they -- speak , the little sounds they make. it’s all so fascinating. that & the mere fact that they are absolutely ADORABLE ! how his own could possibly harm these little critters was beyond him. quite the contrary , he SAVES them. brings them away from the awful conditions they have been put through. perhaps maintaining a friendship once they are out of the LAB & settled into the forest just beyond COLOSSUS territory. they are usually taken from there. pulled from their natural habitat for EXPERIMENTATION.

      A RECENT ADVENTURE INTO THE LAB HAS BROUGHT HIM HERE. to the cages of tiny mammals , lined to be dissected. it makes him CRINGE. the thought of these poor creatures being harmed. all the other groot are gone , leaving this one to his thoughts. branches touch at the crates. NEW LOCKS on the small prisons. inconvenient. he’ll have to figure out another way to sneak the little ones away.

      HARDENED LIMBS STOP , HUES CATCHING SIGHT OF SOMETHING. or rather , someone. this one is so very unusual. not quite as SMALL as the others. nor does he appear as -- innocent as the others. he’s still ADORABLE though ! a light smile crawls to the bark. voice tender toward the little one.

      THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO TOUCH IN WAKANDA. so many BUTTONS to be pushed ! how could anyone actually believe that the tree would be fine touching nothing ? clearly the miniature being has a high interesting in EVERYTHING in the room. the group has been following the KING for what seems like a century , & within moments the GROOT has separated himself from the others. currently he’s wandering – well , what he can only assume is the science - y room.

      WONDER HAS FILLED GENTLE HUES , ATTENTION ON EVERYTHING. a moment to snap out of the utter shock of the place. before long he’s crawling up the table , TEMPTATION growing with each step. there is a pause , focus shifting to the female not too far from the table he has conquered. ❛ i am groot ~ ❜ the voice is small , quiet – despite an attempt at getting her notice. he doesn’t want the others to realize he’s wandered off.

      THE WAR - PAINT HAS BEEN FOUND & IS CURRENTLY BEING CAKED UPON sentient bark. the small plant has a rather HIGH interest in this woman. she walks with an air of POWER -- if not a little bit of intoxication mixed in. the alcoholic kind. but then , the shrub is pretty sure drax is always intoxicated. it’s the only way he can possibly be such a fuckin’ ASSHOLE. the florescent paint has been placed under would - be eyes , & some above.

      IS HE SURE SHE USES THIS STUFF FOR HER LOOK ? NOT REALLY. but it’s too late. he’s currently looking at himself in a mirror , expressions changing to symbolize how he would GLARE at enemies. he thinks he looks quite good. very BADASS if he says so himself. ❛ I AM GROOT ! ❜ he yells at himself in the mirror , bouncing upon legs to shows how ready he is for a FIGHT !

      THINGS HAVE CHANGED SINCE THE YOUNGLING’S YEARS MONTH. what was once cute & adorable , has turned into uncaring & -- quite frankly – a tad more HOSTILE. it must be the video game. after all , the GALAXY knows that games are the root of all evil. no , perhaps that was riches ? unimportant. what is of importance is the reason that this being has interrupted his alone time with his music. music that he has borrowed from QUILL , which somehow means that it is the TREE’S property now. ( he may have engraved his name somewhere on the player. )

      GENTLE HUES WIDEN AT THE SIGHT OF HER BRIGHT , SILVER - LIKE HAIR. or is it more of a white ? his eyes are not trained to identify such things. the shrub only sees SHINY & , well – not. her colors have certainly caught his attention , twigs carefully approaching the other as features focus upon hers. she has his ATTENTION. a feat not capable by all. ( there is a minor interest in what kind of abilities she holds , though that’s a discussion better left to the adults of the group. )

      ❛ i am grrrroooooot. ❜ the little one seems so mesmerized , inching closer before reaching up to her – wait , what if her power is to MESMERIZE him ? the thought is dismissed as quickly as it appeared , elongated word encouraging the girl to pick him up.
