elleusa: In the past, #FLETCHER hasn’t been afraid of being messy in her music. On her most recent tour, her videographer would go out and ask people for one word to describe the singer. “‘Chaos’ was the most-used word,” she says. Now, the singer, whose real name is Cari Fletcher, is embarking on a new era. Yes, she still has a little chaos in her, and yes, she is unapologetically queer. (Her 2022 single “Becky’s So Hot” exploded on TikTok and Reddit after the singer called out her ex-girlfriend’s new girlfriend by name.) findingxfletcher: today is the last full day before my new album is released into the world. this album & the build up to it has been really different from anything i’ve done before. it’s been layered and nuanced. beautiful and painful. confusing and clarifying. sort of have been through the full range of emotion all the way from it’s inception to this very moment that it’s about to make its way into to your hands. but overall, i am elated that you will finally be able to hear (and see) this project that i’ve poured my heart and soul into as a holistic body of work. to feel the full breath of a story. i look forward to your reflections & thoughts. film them if you feel cute (you are) because there are few things that make me happier than seeing beautiful humans experience a song for the first time. wish we could drive around in my car and play it for you like i do for my family and friends. anyway… i’m grateful for all the love & resistance i’ve received over all the years. it’s shaped me into who i am. and i love who that is. i hope this record meets you where you are. and is something you can take with you wherever you are going 💫 until then.
