I still keep seeing TLOAS hate and people keep sending me about them, so I feel like I have to rant here a bit.

It's quite funny and ironic how last year people kept hating on ttpd when it was released and kept saying that it's boring as hell and taylor lost her touch. Months later they warmed up to it and said the album is so lyrically profound that it deserved multiple listens to understand it. But now that tloas is out, suddenly all of them says that it's not deep enough and it's too unserious????? When literally all they wanted a year ago was a pop album?????? Make it makes sense.

And all of the people who started bashing all the internet slang lyrics as fast as they could, what happened to the grace they gave ttpd?? Did they hear "girlboss" and instantly pressed skip?? Because if they really pay attention to the lyrics, surely they can know the context of why these slangs were written, tloas is not as metaphorical as ttpd and folkmore, it's not that hard to get the meaning right away. Also, does it ever occur to them how using a different writing style or different wordings will change the impact of the whole song and album? This is the life of a showgirl, showgirl is suppose to be pop culture.

And it's also kinda ironic how taylor is always grateful that her fans care about her lyrics because she thinks most listeners just care more about the music. But with tloas, suddenly everyone is caring about the lyrics MORE than the music. As if the beats aren't there at all????? imo, tloas has one of the best productions among her albums and I think it's her best pop album that she has released. The songs are infectiously catchy and so so so soooooooooo replyable that it's even hard to believe how addicting they are. The beats and melodies catch you right in and won't let you go until it's the 12th song, and they make you beg for more as you submit to its endless loop. So why are people not acknowledging the music???? They all have something to say about the lyrics but I've not seen anyone mention anything about their opinions on the catchy, narcotic hooks.

All in all, tloas doesn't deserve the scale of hate it's getting. It's fine if you don't like the album, just don't listen to it, but you don't have to make it your whole personality to hate this album and trying to prove so hard why the album is "100% cringe and bad" and "worst album of all time". It's not. Jumping on the hate train just because it's the trend now is what's actually abhorrent.

#also referencing how taylor said her role as an artist is to make a mirror in her projects #i think it's very fitting to think about here because although a lot of ppl find internet slangs cringe and mock it #they still end up using it #and with tloas it's a mirror of that and they abort on the first mention of a slang #also this whole slang debate is like banning taylor from ever using slangs just because she wrote deep poetries before #it's ridiculous #taylor swift #the life of a showgirl #txt
