Battlefleet Gothic Box Art by John Blanche
Black Legion Chaos Champion by John Blanche
John Blanche, one of the people who gave warhammer a visual identity, has passed away.
I don’t think that I need to talk about how influential he was or how talented and gorgeous his artwork was, I think that speaks for itself.
The world was a bit more colorful to have him, and the world of Warhammer 40k was more grimdark thanks to him.
Requiescat in pace.

reblog to fire a medium laser
I've won two tournaments with lists that included a Hatchetman (mostly because I wanted a lance full of melee mechs), and its primary use is to be bait. When you position it, you put it in a place where the rest of your lance can target whoever is going after the Hatchetman. It's slow and has weak armor so opponents will generally target it first, but its also very cheap so if it dies, then you haven't lost much of value.
"The hatchetman is competitively viable if its role is to eat shit and let everyone else jump the culprit"
Incredible
Its also good as a distraction, as many players (casual players at least) will be irrationally afraid of any melee attack, and avoid it at all costs. Allowing it to her your opponent into your shooters' killzone
I mean if I wanted to do that I'd just get a Nightsky and have an actually dangerous melee threat for a few hundred extra bv
