4:47 am. Forehead is drenched in sweat. My bed is drenched. I look to my left, there’s a beautiful woman sleeping soundly. I look to my right and there’s a sign on my wall that reads “be the reason someone smiles today.” I shake my head and get out of bed. I walk to the kitchen and grab a carton of orange juice and sit on the living room couch. Why am I like this? Why can’t I get back into bed with this woman? She wants me and trust me enough to sleep in my bed. Yet.. I can’t stop thinking about the woman that isn’t here. That isn’t in my phone. That isn’t texting or calling me to see how I’m doing. She’s out, living a life... that she always wanted to live. And... I can’t even find the courage to watch it. I keep going back to the afternoon that changed everything from awkward to silent. The night my life flashed before my eyes and nothing but visions of our past flooded in my head. In that moment, I was sure that... she was the one. But in that moment, she decided she wasn’t and needed to leave. Abandoning me on my bounce back to normal. The woman that I felt lucky to even have now made me feel like... death incarnated. The love of my life... my best friend was gone. I couldn’t build myself back up but when look at her... me and all of my problems felt... inconsequential
