low-key what fucks me up to most about the opening of the weird route in chapter 5 is the way toriel tries to reach out to kris after they slept through the entire festival. it's obvious that she has no context for the cosmic possession horror they're going through, but whereas in a normal playthrough she scopes things out and investigates quietly because she can tell something is amiss, in snowgrave she defaults to what seems like a very familiar and rehearsed routine to talk kris through a mental health episode.

just... how badly was this kid doing before they met susie if toriel assumes that this is what's going on again. is it so insane she's breaking every rule and letting them roam free until night and throwing caution to the wind and doting on susie too much too fast and weirding her out?? it's the first time in years that her kid's been walking around like they're not just waiting for the best chance to kill themselves, i would literally sob with relief

Imagine they made Space Jam 2, but they were like, "parents hate hearing cartoon voices, so we're replacing all the voices of these characters," so Porky Pig was voice acted by Generic Male Actor #1, and Tweety Bird was voice acted by Generic Male Actor #2, and Elmer Fudd was voice acted by Generic Male Actor #3, etc etc. That's what these Mario movies are like to me. "We can't have this child cartoon character be played by a woman doing a Cartoon Child Voice, so let's make him sound like some random grown ass man instead." And I see and hear that during the game awards and cringe and think, "Okay, well that sucks, but these movies aren't for me anyways. They're for normie parents and children who are too young to care about what the characters sound like. So I'll just keep trying to ignore these movies." But the reality is is that I'm an adult Mario fan who follows adult Mario fans online and is friends with adult Mario fans. So I open Youtube and it's like, "here's what this Twitch streamer thinks of the newest Mario movie," and I gotta just keep scrolling. And then my friend is like, "Dude did you hear Yoshi's voice in the newest Mario movie? It sounds awful." I'm not clicking that link man. I already know they made Yoshi sound like Generic Male Actor #4, I don't need to hear it.

the thing is like. i know plenty of poor americans that really did join the military because it was "the only option" but its important to recognize that even among those people its not actually the only option. you can just be poor. they made the choice to kill people so they could advance their own societal position. thats still evil

Even non active combat military roles contribute to the killing and ruining of other peoples and lands. Medics treat soldiers so they can go back out and kill Brown people. Mechanics fix aircraft/watercraft so they can go back in the air/water to go kill Brown people and blockade supplies from getting to those who need them. Military therapists give soldiers back their will to go shoot Brown people. There is no innocent role in the military, whether in times of peace or war.

if i got paid a few thousand dollars and was provided healthcare and a free ride through college in exchange for killing someone, people would justiably see that as a very bad immoral thing for me to do and my saying “oh but i was getting paid and was getting to go to college! i was being manipulated!” probably wouldn’t hold up in court. the only reason it’s seen as a valid excuse for people in the military is because we systemically dehumanize people from other countries.
