it came to a shock, not just to you but your whole crew, when the straw hat boy defeated your nemesis with a few punches and kicks.
you yourself were not a devil fruit user, but your nemesis was. they possessed one that only brought destruction when the two of you faced off.
your crew wasn't that big either, maybe a few thirty people, the most loyalist you could find. they followed you from and to the grand line.

"straw hat. " your voice alarmed his crew, yet he turned to you with a curious grin. "i want to propose an alliance. you've done something that i must repay you with in some form."
you took notice of how zoro's eyes glistened with cautiousness. nami's was of disappointment, and you knew she expect gold as payment of gratitude.
luffy however, grinned even wider. before he could accept your hand and shake it, zoro stooped him.
"luffy, are you sure about this?"
the short captain blinked, confused at why his first mate was so weary of this proposition. "well yeah, he helped us navigate here, and he was never rude or anything. i think it would be nice to have someone on our side! plus! his crew is tough and so is he!! have you seen his bounty??"
you weren't sure if that was a compliment, but you took it as one and tried not to ponder much about how your heart skipped a beat.
"we still know nothing about them aside their bounty as a whole, and names. we just met them, luffy."
luffy frowned, still not getting the gist of what zoro meant. ussopp intervened, "hey, luffy. just think it over for a sec, we don't know if they are traitors. "
your right hand man spoke up, "hey. watch it. our captain would never do that. we may be pirates, but we mean business. if we were traitors wouldn't we have stolen all your gold and valuables already?"
nami perked up at that, "doesn't hurt to check." and she ran off like her life depended on it.
you laughed, making the straw hats weary even further. "it's ok of you don't want to, we'll settle something to repay you. although a chance like this might never pop up again-"
you stopped talking when you felt a hand grasp yours. your eyes settled on luffy's determined smile, and you found it highly amusing. so did your heart.
"we'll take it. an alliance it is."
"luffy!!" nami screamed from the ship, catching the captain's attention.
he quickly let go of your hand, making you frown unconsciously. "did they really steal our gold?!"
she shook her head, "no- but are you sure about this!?"
robin laughed, "once he decides we can't do anything about it. we have to trust him, he's our captain of course."
"sounds reliable" you mumbled with a smile, making sanji scoff.
"not always. he's a moron most of the time."
luffy growled, "hey! watch it!"
"we should get going." robin mentioned as she walked towards the ship, "i believe nami said the log pose has set to our next location. "
"oh hey. " luffy turned to look at you, "wanna come with us? we need to gather some resources on the next island, maybe we can get to know each other a bit more before parting ways. what do you say?"

again, the two of you are impulsive and oh so similar in behavior, that despite how tired you are, you chase after him and annoy your comrades
