My previous reblog made me remember : I gathered so much informations that came out during Eva fest and I wanted to share some interesting bits !
First of all, the voice actors played a CD-drama type spectacle on stage : someone kills Gendo, and Kaworu becomes an improvised detective to try and find the culprit. He instantly says that Shinji isn't the culprit and everyone booes him.
There are also Kaworu/Asuka and Kaworu/Mari interactions in it !
Miyamura said that it was amazing to be between Ishida and Ogata getting all 'lovely-dovely' during the reading.
Anno said that Akira Ishida's humming part in the original series took several takes, and lightheartedly joked that they were running behind schedule because of it.
Anno also said that Kaji was actually giving Misato a massage in *that* scene where they met up in the original series, and that he would've never broadcast two characters doing *it* in the evening (he was most likely joking) the voice actors and the audience where speechless.
Anno and Tsurumaki got asked which angel is their favorite : Anno responded with 'Kaworu', and that he's glad for his popularity (I would've never guessed lol) and Tsurumaki said Ramiel because it's easy to draw.
director Mahiro Maeda also said he's a fan of Kaworu.
It was also revealed that the scene in which Asuka dies fighting the mass produced Eva in EOE was Tsurumaki's doing. In fact, Anno kept shifting the blame to him for hurting Asuka lol.
They also talked about something that Kaworu fans partially already know, which is that he was originally supposed to be a boy accompanied by a cat, and that the cat was the real angel controlling the boy.
Something that I don't think was previously revealed is that in episode 16 Shinji was supposed to talk to the actual angel, but that Tsurumaki thought it was 'not interesting' and 'too early' for an angel to talk, so they made Shinji talk with himself. He said that he didn't want angels to speak until Kaworu showed up.
Kaworu's form, that of a humanoid angel able to speak, was also decided from the very beginning of the series.

During the stage greeting, Mahiro Maeda revealed that the reason you can see Kaworu behind the original Asuka during a scene inside of unit 13 in 4.0, is that there was a sort of "reconstruction device" that was repairing Kaworu's head. He said that even without a soul, the body's fingers were moving because it remembered playing piano with Shinji :(
The body was regenerated to pilot unit 13 (so I believe it's mostly Kaworu the one actually fighting against Shinji in the movie ? I have no idea why they wouldn't make it more clear in the movie itself)

People who attended it said it was beautiful and very romantic, and it seemed like a fusion of NGE and Rebuilds.
